I came here for the first time with my boyfriend last night and it was absolutely delicious!!! I've had Indian cuisine in many other restaurants but the flavors here are extraordinary!!! I came back tonight with my daughter and it was even better! We met the owner, Baljit, who educated us on the dishes. Her hospitality was superb!!!! It's a must go to and it'll be one of my favorite good eats restaurants in Sacramento! Restaurant was clean and ambience was nice in the downtown area. Service was great!!!

Yummy! How did I not know about this place? Small interior but comfortable seating, fun music and friendly staff. The food was seriously some of the best Indian food I've had in Sac.

India Gate offers a weekday lunch buffet option. It’s a solid option for a quick lunch for a filler up. $19.99.The lunch buffet vegetarian options are plentiful. The vegetable samosa has a thick doughy crust. The meat option is limited to chicken… tandoori chicken, chicken curry, and butter chicken. The temperature of the food is warm, but I would prefer the hot trays temp turned up a notch for the hot food. The dessert options are gulab jamun and rice pudding. Both are served cold. Complimentary naan is brought to the table. The options are garlic and regular. It’s fresh baked and served piping got. Luv that. It has crisp edges and airy pillowy interior. Yum. Overall all the buffet items tasted ok.The interior is simple. No particular ambiance. The waiter was attentive. He made sure to refill drinks and engage with the customers.

Been here a handful of times. The prices have gone up a bit since they opened. Standard Indian buffet fare, nothing fancy, nothing overly exciting, but predictable and good enough. The service is a bit inconsistent, depending on who's working that day. If the owner is there, his service is much better. The interior is a bit dark, it can use a bit of better natural or florescent lighting to brighten up the place. They will be competitive if they lowered their lunch buffet price $3-5. Spend the same and get just as full (although not all-you-can-eat) at Bombay; much better food there.

TBH, the food was a 4 star, but the table service was a 2 star. We sat down and didn't get service for 10-15 mins. We came in at 5pm and there was only one other couple there. When we did get to order, we found the food very tasty and really think it's very good to have Indian food downtown. We never did get a single re-fill of water. When we were done, I had to call the guy over for some to-go boxes. He forgot and I asked another guy. Then, I had to ask to for the check too. He never came over so I went to the register. I think if they get their service on point we have 4 stars here.

The lunch buffet is awesome with regulars like butter chicken, samosas, tandoori chicken, and vegetable pakora as well as different daily dishes that are just delicious. The buffet also includes enough naan for the whole table, either regular or the totally yummy garlic version.

This place was so good! Casual hole in the wall vibes. With AMAZING food. We had no complaints about anything we got. Couldn’t choose what we wanted so we got 2 of the combo platters and it was more than enough food for the both the of us.. plus lamb and garlic naan.. say no more. We will be waddling out of the restaurant, happy and content. Absolutely coming back and bringing friends.

First time here, truly has a hole in the wall vibes. Atmosphere was great with them playing ethnic music. Food was 10/10 we had the methi butter chicken with garlic and chicken tikka nan and it was amazing. Sunny was a great waiter and took care of us well. After we were done devouring our food Sunny asked if theres anything else we need and we asked for Sidhu to be played and he played a couple of his songs. Every time you walk into an Indian restaurant and you don’t hear SIDHU you are not in the right place.Thank you again Sunny we’ll be back forsure!LONG LIVE SIDHU MOOSE WALA

Disappointing overall, the food was the best part of the experience and it was mediocre. They seemed disinterested when people (few) arrived and service was extremely slow considering there were only 2 tables occupied and it was a buffet. Both tables had to ask for water and I was half way through my lunch when my soda (a can dropped off at the table) arrived.

It was nice to see an Indian Buffet in midtown today. The buffet offered a vegetarian selection of meals and a meat selection of chicken and fish dishes. Typical rice pudding and honey balls were also offered. We also enjoyed the fresh garlic and regular naan. The lunch buffet at 20 each was a little stiff but the food was good, We will be back if in the area, but with reservations as to what will be offered.

Three people enjoyed their buffet at lunch. The food and service was wonderful., Especially enjoyed the butter chicken and the chicken tikka masala. Nice atmosphere, and the bread was also delicious.

Arrived at the restaurant during off hours peak hours as one of the few Indian restaurant open at this time in the downtown area. We were greeted with smile & service was pleasant through out. 5 star for the veggie dishes we ordered including Biryani. Yummy ! And also surprisingly good quantity where many restaurants are increasing price but skimping on quality & quantity. Would definitely visit again when we come back to Sacramento.
