This was a very hot and miss experience. We got the breakfast burrito and the big Jim. The burrito tasted like a breakfast sandwich that had been wrapped in a tortilla. It was actually nice and simple. The big Jim, the oatmeal pancakes were tasty and filling, the potato pancake was ok, it was chopped up potatoes with some batter to hold them together. The egg was a basic egg, the bacon was less than noteworthy and the sausage was still pink on the inside.
Great service and great food. Mac and Cheese w
Look no further, Sacramento. We have just found the best burger in town!!
The vibe at Jim Denny's is off the hook! Welcoming, up-beat, lively with a solid nod to it's past. It's a tiny place with about 10 counter stools inside, but there is plenty of extra seating on the patio. The service was top notch and the burger was the best Sacramento has to offer, hands-down. So fresh, hot and dripping with goodness. The onions rings were good too.
Worst dining experience I’ve ever had.
Owner was complaining to customers that she was short staffed, and telling people it would be 15 minutes before she could even take your order but in all actuality we waited for two sub par burgers for 45-50 minutes, didn’t received our fries but were charged for them even after I asked her if I wasn’t being charged for them.. 40$!!!
I didn’t really care because I’ll never be back again and also won’t recommend them to anyone..
As a customer; experiencing this was so unprofessional. Plus there were flys everywhere inside the restaurant.
They had another customer wait for his order for 30 minutes just to be told that they weren’t going to serve him because they were out of food..
I know bad reviews don’t benefit the restaurant, but this wasn’t worth the 40$ I spent today.
Well, let me tell you about this diner of excellence on all levels. Superior Burgers, Fries cooked in real fat like the old diner days and the chili. Oh, the chili!! I don’t like beans in chili, technically in Texas, they remove restaurant licenses if you have beans in chili but it was so good here! I think they have a touch of curry but it’s actually clove. Delish!!!
Definitely worth a trip downtown for this gastronomic experience.
This is becoming a favorite lunch spot for me. Love the atmosphere of the old joint. Even the surly customers are awesome. Food is great, the Ranch is off the charts.

Incredible, incredible, incredible! Owner was super welcoming. Chicken sandwich was perfect. Burger was great. Don't skip the onion rings and housemade ranch. What a cool place. Can't wait to go back.

Chicken Sandwich is huge and delicious. The fried cauliflower is also great. Atmosphere nostalgic for old time diners.

This isn’t the old Jim Deny’s I was looking forward too. Only scrambled eggs, cold bacon, and a big thick potato chip that was chewy.

Inconsistent hours, always sold out of chicken. Can’t keep up with demand I guess. Bird is the word used to be my go to but the chicken was undercooked a couple of times and that’s not a gamble i enjoy. They do have the best ranch and onion rings tho.

Amazing staff who went above and beyond to help my kids and me feel better after a horrible day. Next time in town, I will definitely be returning!

To me they are proportion sizes in their meals is fairly decent but for me the main downside is the prices I can understand having a raise the prices with the cost of living going up but still it's just how I personally feel one of the really good upsides is they don't take cash so that they don't have any criminal issues

Jim Denny’s is one of few places downtown you can get a proper lunch for under $20 even after tax and tip. The menu is small and not fancy, but good. I’ve had their grilled cheese and fried fish sandwich and both were 10/10. Most of the seating is outdoors though, so keep that in mind if the weather isn’t the best.
