Thanks again to Mulvaney's for hosting the Sacramento Bacon Fest Chef's Competition. As is normal for them, the staff were fantastic and everyone seemed to have a great time. The B&L is always up for a large group party and I'll always recommend them to anyone looking for a large event. Cheers!
We held a celebration of life for our Mom on Sunday. It was a beautiful event that went seamlessly, thanks to Rachel and the amazing Mulvaney's kitchen and staff. Bonus points to Rachel, who joined he team midway, but managed to pick up the pieces, while adding her own special touches and suggestions.
I would highly recommend Mulvaney's event team for any special occasion!
Not the first time here but yet another review. Great place to have dinner. Service is always on point. Food wise is excellent.
My wife and I came for our anniversary on a recommendation from a friend. Everything - service, atmosphere, and definitely the food - was amazing! We're looking forward to going again.
It was so good artshow
Tries but it’s a swing and a miss. Overarching theme of the night was food was lacking. Evening began with a lovely 20 year old bottle of wine - I tried to warn the waitress who promptly broke the cork so they needed to filter the wine as they decanted it. Would have expected a restaurant of this caliber to have a Durand and double decanter. We ordered the house smoked salmon appetizer. The play on lox was a good attempt with the home made Irish brown bread but the bread was too dry and dense for the salmon. This would have been a better dish if the salmon was presented as salmon carpaccio. The pork chop continued the theme of the night - dry and over cooked. When we got to the Niman ranch rib eye, the night stared to turn around. The rib eye was perfectly marbled, cooked to melt in your mouth and paired perfectly with the wine. Then dessert was another play attempt - this time of a hostess ding dong. We returned right back to the theme of the evening dry.
This is a high-end California style farm to fork restaurant. It deserves a Michelin star. Chef Mulvaney and his wife run a tight ship. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. I especially enjoy watching the magic happen with the open kitchen.
Seriously, very sweet and helpful. Thank you so much.
I love photographing weddings at Mulvaney's B&L in Sacramento. It is a charming and intimate wedding venue that perfectly blends historic character with warm hospitality. The beautifully restored brick building, cozy courtyard, and elegant dining spaces create a romantic and inviting atmosphere, perfect for capturing timeless wedding moments.
The proximity to surrounding streets with vibrant backdrops allow for a short walk to many great portrait opportunities.
The exceptional farm-to-table cuisine and attentive staff ensure a seamless and unforgettable experience for couples and their guests. Whether photographing intimate indoor celebrations or lively receptions under the twinkling patio lights, Mulvaney's B&L offers a uniquely beautiful setting for a memorable wedding day.
We enjoyed our last experience, and wanted to bring our friends and wine to enjoy with the special menu.
The staff was more than willing to accommodate our BYO, but when the bill came, we were then—and only then— informed the corkage was $25 for the first bottle, $50 for the second and third, and $100 for the fourth.
This was news, TBH, unexpected. They were unapologetic and kinda killed our evening.
Good food but the policies overshadow the joy.

Excellent 'day after Valentine's Day' dinner here. I had made rez a week in advance to ensure we could get in. They were booked for sure and the place was hopping when we arrived. The decor is typically casual, but for VDay it was more dressy which I prefer anyway when dining out at a higher level restaurant. They also have a larger 'event' room attached and a private dining room as well. We were in the main dining room for this night. Service was exceptional throughout the evening. The menu changes with the season as this is a farm to fork restaurant. On this night we both enjoyed the 'soup of the day' which was a broccoli cheddar. The cheddar was sharp which gave the soup some punch. And, as a nice addition, they topped the soup with some 'dried' broccoli florets that had a nice flavorful crunch to them. Added a little pizzazz as well. The soup was very good. We also both ordered the braised short rib dinner which was a special for the weekend. The short rib was flavorful and extremely tender but not dry. Excellently prepared. Overall, this was a very good dining experience on a day/weekend where many times the restaurants fall short due to the over capacity of diners. Mulvaney's delivered on all marks for us.
Great atmosphere — we were given a private room in the back off of the kitchen. Very relaxed and low stress.
We ordered six or seven different dishes, mostly small plates, and enjoyed the variety and flavors. Excellent quality. We probably could have gotten by with a little less food but we left satisfied. Don’t miss the ding-dong for dessert.
Don’t care about their food, what I care about is them doing a catering thing at my apartment complex and scratching up my car because they park crooked. And we’re very inconsiderate considering they are promoting a business and their drivers/employees don’t care. This is the car that scratched it.
Great food but very very slow service and over expensive
Very very poor ventilation in the building and your clothes/hair smells like all the food that been cooked. I had to take a coat and sweater to the dry cleaners to get the smell out.
