New Helvetia Brewing Company

Always knew it would come to this at some point bc the place has always been somewhat mid, but it's a bummer it has to. I'm a neighborhood guy. When I first moved here four years ago from Portland, I really liked this spot as an average neighborhood go-to. True, the beer is average and always a little flat and overpriced for the quality. But the staff were fun, engaging, and we could all overlook the awkward L-shaped space for the sake of a good neighborhood spot. Hell, I'd bring out of towners and try to sell it up (often with little fanfare) and bring folks from around town just to help support.

Ever since the first cast of servers left (the Mali and team era), it's gotten progressively weirder. To the point where weekly trips after work have become once a month at best. The owner has used the co-op model to stay in business, which is fine. And the owner is a good marketer. But that also must come with some substance and an increase in quality, not just a community supporter lifeline.

Now, in terms of service, it's mainly this one hipster-type 'tude guy incapable of small talk, a basic food truck with no food (and basic burgers) and 'tude mongers, and a constant sales pitch to pay $300 to join the co-op for flat beer and a weird space. But, again, the owner is a good marketer. And, again, that's not exactly backed up by substance.

It's a bummer. Truly bummed to post this, but after a bizarro experience tonight, had to share my unfortunate lack of support going forward.

Super chill vibe. Great beer! Just a really classic neighborhood hangout. Definitely a place to check out. Their beer is at SMF now too!

The inside and front tables are nice but the back patio is fabulous. No street noise, breezes and sunshine, the perfect place to enjoy a beer. Some nice options on tap, but a usual an inordinate amount of IPAs. Something like 60-75% of the board, which is the trend at the moment for breweries. I had high hopes for the food truck but that didn't pan out. Next door Nepalese restaurant is where it's at.

Best place on Broadway to grab a pint or even take a 4-pack to go. Staff is top notch and plenty of selection for everyone. Highly recommend Gucci Slides!!

First time here. IPA was decent. Server was friendly. As someone who likes food with his drink I was a bit disappointed with the lack of food options. Ordered a taco plate. Tasty but pretty expensive for a small amount of food.

Where are the delicious smoked ribs? Good beer but the food was way better when BBQ was there.

Nice chill brewery with a great lineup and friendly people. Off the beaten path and employee owned if I understand correctly.

Love the Buffalo … and the Molly… and i could go on and on. Great beer, great vibe, great customer service.

The bacon jam slider lunch box deal was delicious!

Stopped in at 3:30 to try their lunchbox special. Bacon jam slider, fries and a beer. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Everything was delicious and hot from their food truck in the back.

Our go to local brewery. Staff is always amazing, beer is great! Please keep the yummy seltzer on tap :) oh, and they allow dogs ! Please go support new Helvetia and support local business - it's what keeps this city great ?
