This place is a little bit of fusion with a Japanese style Cutlet but with a Hong Kong style taste. All the dishes I had were great but the black pepper Spaghetti definitely hit me with a slap of flavor it was spicy but I kept coming back for more. The Hong Kong Style French toast didn't even make it to the picture it was so damn good. I'll definitely have to eat here again and try the Hong Kong Style Milk Tea. I hope you guys add some desserts like dan dan or ginger dan lai. Overall, I will be back and you guys killed it on the Japanese katsu because it's meaty, juicy and down right delicious

Newly opened store in the Safeway plaza off of elk grove florin and Calvine. They are working out kinks to improve this place and I can't wait to see how it does in the future! It's a small store so the staff is of 2-3 people. Not much conversation and the menu is not complete. I hope they have a digital menu with pictures or just a menu with pictures. The gentleman who served me, showed me what their food looks like thru his phone so I could see what they look like.He had recommended the chicken katsu with spaghetti and it was good. Nice chew of the noodles. The chicken was bit over cooked, but as mentioned before, they are still in the early stages. The sauce had a deep tomato flavor, bold, not much sweetness. I can't wait to see how they improve in the coming months!Overall it was a pleasant experience. I love seeing small businesses come to my neighborhood and enjoy what they offer! Can't wait to come back!

They’re only opened for 1 month so I’ll update this review when I return to try again. For now, my review is based on the 6 dishes I ordered and the service received:First dish that came out was the baked rice with meat sauce. Usually this is the last dish that comes out because of the time it takes to cook/bake. It’s just plain white rice under the sauce. The rice wasn’t fully cooked. Wasn’t sure if they microwaved this dish or actually baked it but it was disappointing. It would be better if they fried the rice and added more meat sauce, and bake it longer (if it was baked).Second dish was the fried chicken. This was tasty. I was concerned at some point because some of the meat looked pink, but I’ll give the benefit of doubt that it’s their marinade. Chicken was tender and tasty.Third dish was the pork cutlet. This dish was okay. Batter was crispy but I’m not a big pork cutlet fan so I’ll leave it at that.Fourth dish: beef brisket with wheat noodle soup and pork dumplings. Soup kind of bland and noodles were undercooked and unevenly cooked. Dumplings were disappointing—it didn’t taste like pork. It didn’t taste like anything for that matter.Fifth dish: shrimp wonton noodle soup with flat white noodles. Soup base tasted the same as the beef brisket noodle. Shrimp wonton better than their pork dumplings but not something I’d come back for. Noodles over cooked so it was mostly broken into pieces.Last dish: HK style French toast. This was the only dish I liked. It tasted better than most HK style French toast in Sac and I liked that their peanut butter taste was subtle. I would come back for this dish.Service: we were the only dine in table yet service and food was slow. They didn’t have smaller plates to give us for sharing appetizers so they gave us big round plates.I’ll wait another month before coming back to try similar and different dishes.Location: great location but I’ve seen several restaurants in this spot open and close. Plenty of parking.

My husband is from Hong Kong so these type of style cafes usually pique our interest, so we decided to give Richmond Cafe a try. TLDR, overall I thought the food and ambiance was average. Since the place is new I'd be willing to come back to give them another try if they add additional items to the menu.Detailed thoughts:Food- we ordered the baked chicken over rice with white sauce, beef brisket wonton noodle soup and a HK milk tea. Starting with the baked chicken rice, the chicken is actually chicken katsu and only the rice is baked (with some cheese, small amount of mushrooms, onion and green bell pepper). The overall taste was good and chicken was fried perfectly. My only note for improvement would be to have a bit more sauce as the rice was a bit dry. Next, the beef brisket noodle soup. The broth itself was quite lacking in flavor, but the brisket and wontons were pretty good. I personally wouldn't order this again since I've have better tasting broth/noodles at other places. As for the HK milk tea it tastes like your typical HK milk tea, not super sweet or strong. Their menu currently is just a piece of paper put inside a plastic sleeve (like the ones you put inside a binder) with several items crossed out. Since they just recently opened, perhaps they are still developing items.Ambiance: the overall decor wasn't too special or on theme, it was mainly pictures of trees/flowers. There is room for improvement to make the vibe match the cafe more, but seeing as they have recently opened (~ 1 month ago) they could still be working through that. The tables themselves are also quite bare, no condiments/sauces. If you need anything you have to ask the server.Service: There was only one gentleman that we could see in the cafe that took our order/served our food. His service was typical to what you'd expect at a Chinese cafe (acceptable), but nice.

The Hong Kong-style French toast pictures posted on Yelp sucked me into Richmond Cafe a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, they said they were out of bread. No sandwich and no toast. Of course, including the French toast! The service was very slow when I was there, even though they had only three tables with five customers, including my table. We tried the Wonton Rice Noodles and the Gillette Chicken Spaghetti with Black Pepper Sauce. The wonton rice noodles are a little below average. Not enough flavor! The black pepper sauce is too sweet, and very little black pepper tastes! I hope they have the French toast. At least it looks good in the picture! The dining room is very basic decoration but clean and comfortable. The parking lot is busy but safe!

I was interested to try this place. There was some things I read about it that stimulated my foodie senses. The best way I can describe my experience was confusing. When I got there I found no pictures of food displayed nor did I see any menus. Instead the gentlemen at the counter showed me pictures on his phone like a friend that just got back from vacation. The selection of dishes continued the confusion. I had assumed it was an Asian restaurant, but the dishes were a strange melange of some Asian and some Frankensteinish combination of of I am not sure what. The best example of this was a chicken cutlet in a bed of spaghetti. I also ordered the weird assemblage of noodles and won ton stuffed with shrimp. In the end the novelty was not worthy of a return visit.

I pass by this shopping center almost everyday and didn't know about this place until seeing it on Yelp's hot & new restaurant search. The menu seemed pretty similar to something like Yummy Cafe or Flame Cafe but much less variety. We had an appt a few doors down so decided to come try it for lunch. Decor is very plain, menus are all crinkled and items crossed out. They play karaoke cover videos on the tv..at least play the actual videos! The only upside was that they had high chairs we could use for our daughter. They didn't even bring us waters until we asked after our food came. I was most curious about the katsu sando since there aren't many places that offer it! Unfortunately he said they didn't have it so my husband had to pick something else. So then I picked the hamburger steak with gravy sauce, nope they didn't have it either.. so both of us didn't get what we originally wanted. We ended up with beef brisket wonton soup with rice noodles, and baked rice with cheese, chicken and cream sauce. Both were decent. The soup could've had more flavor but at least it had a generous amount of wonton and noodles. I don't think it's a $16 dish though. The baked rice was also tasty especially with the creamy cheesy parts, but again, not sure if that's $17 worth. Katsu was cooked nicely, still not sure why they couldn't make the katsu sandwich though. We ended up with a $35 lunch plus tip! It's way too pricey since you can get the same thing with bigger portions from Yummy Cafe. Maybe I'll come back when they have the katsu sando but otherwise I don't imagine they'll be surviving too long.

I came by for lunch today and it was the perfect comforting meal. It is still their soft opening but their selection had what I was craving. Here's what I ordered:-Pork Wonton with rice noodles with extra wontons - my fave! The wontons were some of the best I've had. They were good size and juicy. The noodles and broth were a great balance and it reminded me of my grandma's food. So comforting and delicious.-Lemon Iced Tea is a must have! It's the perfect combo with the sweetness and fresh lemon slices. It was so refreshing and went well with my lunch.I will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu. The fried pork chop and Hong Kong style french toast look yummy too. I'm glad a cafe like this opened up near me.

This place just recently opened and I have to admit, I love Hong Kong style cafe. Their Japanese Fried Chicken was juicy and good. I don't think they double fried this so it definitely missing that karaga feel that make it extra crispy. This comes with a citrus mayo that pair well.. they might need to add some of that cayenne sprinkle on the sauce to give it that extra bite. This place does the pork chop very well, highly recommend this. We replaced our fried chicken on the cream sauce with pork because that's how we like it . The spaghetti meat sauce is a bit on the sweet side, it remind me a lot of Fillipino style spaghetti. The cream sauce over rice is good, it had good flavor with a peppery taste from the white pepper. The only thing I would suggest is that they should have is chili oil.... as this is a staple in Hong Kong Cafe. It just goes well with everything they have... and to have wonton and not chili oil wonton... that's just, in my case a missed opportunity.

The shrimp wontons were amazing and the popcorn chicken was very juice and crispy. It came with kewpie mayo on the side and dipping the chicken katsu sauce in the curry was

Really excited to see another Hong Kong cafe has replaced R-Ice! The ambiance is definitely a lot simpler, but I love that they have a good amount of seating available. They have a counter to order from. Their staff worker told us they just opened and directed us to their menu, which we perused at the counter. We ordered the HK Style Milk Tea, Pork Wonton Noodle Soup, and the Fried Pork Chop over Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce. The Wonton Soup was definitely a winner. The wonton was so tender and juicy and the flavors were on point. I liked the ratio of milk to tea in the Hong Kong Milk Teas as well. The person who took our order also checked in on us after the meal to see if we had any criticism at all, which was nice. Overall, we enjoyed our dishes. I'm looking forward to returning and trying some of their other offerings.
