I've only been here a couple times prior and know it was a Sacramento staple, but kudos for keeping the general vibe the same but adding more tacos and margaritas to the menu. I had a shrimp taco and el pastor and OHHHH BOY they were ???

I go to many Mexican restaurants in the area, and I tried their shrimp diabla. It's not very hot, spice wise but it was good.

Serves bad overpriced tacos now. Poor food, definitely not burgers.

We wanted to enjoy another meal before the closure at the end of July 2022. Sad another East Sacramento establishment is closing. I enjoyed a delicious hamburger, ice tea and my husband had a beer and mahi-mahi street tacos. Luckily we got a table inside. The employees were hustling for the crowd was growing. Take along your patience for the street parking is minimal and wait can take awhile but oh so worth it. Sad to see The Shack close their doors.

I love this place! The food is so good and the staff is super friendly. This place is ALWAYS packed with people, so don't go if you're in a hurry. We used to go all the time, but the last couple of times we went, we had to leave because the wait was too long (1 hour+ wait time). But we went on a Wednesday at 1pm, and while it was busy, we were seated fairly quickly. They have new French fries that are AMAZING! We got the herb roasted chicken sandwich and the chicken was so juicy and flavorful. I recommend getting the aioli on the side (it's super thick and there is a lot lol) 10/10! The onion rings are usually super amazing, this time they were a bit over cooked, but still had great flavor. They have SO many beer, cider, and other drink options. There is definitely something for everyone. They also have brunch now which is super cool! I can't wait to try it. Overall, this place is truly great. If you have the time, give them a try. They are pet friendly too!

Today was my first time coming back to The Shack since the pandemic so my expectations were very high. I've tried to come a few times for brunch, but there have always been a line to get in so I was really excited to get a seat fairly quickly with how busy they were! I noticed they dropped some menu items like The Veg (she will be missed) and they no longer have any avocado on their menu. I opted with the herbed chicken sandwich with the aioli on the side, a side of ranch, a side of thousand island, a side of pickles, and a basket of onion rings. I was surprised that they no longer substitute fries for onion rings, but kind of glad because they changed their fries to a beer battered type and they are DELICIOUS. The staff here is very friendly and attentive, even with how busy they were for lunch! I always get nervous when my order isn't written down, as I can get a little complicated, but everything was served as I had ordered which was great! The only downsides to my visit was the long wait time for food (which was kind of understandable bc of the lunch rush), the quality of pickle went down (they used to serve dill pickle spears and now they are cheap tasting pickle chips), they changed the ranch and thousand island recipe, and our onion rings were over cooked. The chicken sandwich, however, was very tasty! Juicy, perfectly cooked chicken and the pepper-jack cheese was top notch!

I'm so glad The Shack has survived the scourge that COVID has inflicted upon the restaurant industry. I had a not-great experience here 6 years ago and decided not to come back for a good while. Well, upon my return i can say that their game has come back better than ever. Service, food, drinks, all top notch. A truly great neighbourhood experience.

Food sucks... Wait is overly long for 10 years so apparently they can't work out their issues.
