A truly wonderful dining experience. The food was fresh, innovative without being overly sauced or fussy, and well presented. Kudos in particular to the octopus with gnocchi and the scallops. The service matched the food. We were greeted warmly and ordered drinks followed by a very well informed description of the menu. After that everything sounded delicious. Outstanding food and service. For such an outstanding restaurant, I thought the surroundings, the ambience, was sort of plain - is that the right word ? Might have expected at least a linen tablecloth ? From observing the garden room I think when warmer would be the place to be in that regard. Most dishes were outstanding! And the personalized touch for our anniversary was lovely The quail appetizer was more breading than quail. My scallops were a tad too rare despite best efforts on the second attempt. We enjoy the creativity of the chef and appreciate the staff's commitment to fine dining which is lacking in most other Sacramento restaurants.
