“The ambiance of candlelight, bright artwork, and metal music playing at a conversational level was enough to make me stay. But throw in a very vegan-friendly menu and delicious coffee and I'm swooning. This very solid first impression of Immortal Café included an oatmilk latte with Demerara brown sugar "fancy syrup" and it was quite good. I'd recommend you try it if you're down for a hint of sweetness. It was evening when we stopped by, so the food options were small bites and shareable. I tried both the potato chips (yum) and the Bertie, which was a truffle-infused fermented cashew cheese (double yum) accompanied by a seasonal preserve and crostini. The seasonal preserve was a candied orange marmalade, which elevated the whole pairing. So much deliciousness. The place is small and in a funky converted motel on the edge of Alkali Flats. I wouldn't bring a large group since the interior is more like a bar with some small seating arrangements. It is dog-friendly though with a couple of exterior tables. I'll be back to try out the Saturday vegan brunch for sure.“
“We had a great dinner this last Saturday night. First, we were seated in a comfy, centrally located booth in the dining room. The food was delicious. Their bread service is excellent! It's so tasty. My wife and I both started with the onion and leek soup. Their French onion is a good one. Next, I had the 8oz. filet Mignon with the truffle butter and red wine sauce. It was perfectly prepared to my requested medium rare. For a side, I went with the loaded baked potato. It was huge! It was baked perfectly, though it would have benefited by being salt crusted, rather than plain. My wife just had a house salad, which she enjoyed. Excellent selection of wines by the glass. Service was professional, attentive, and friendly.“
“I’ve been here a handful of times over the course of 2023 and have always had an exceptional time. The food is amazing, especially the brie grilled cheese and the wine is even better. You can’t beat the service here either. They make it incredibly easy to pick a wine/drink that you’ll enjoy. I spilled my wine all over myself and the floor the most recent time I visited, and one of the workers was so polite and quick to help out which was appreciated since I was pretty embarrassed.“
“Vine and grain was fun! Drinks were a solid 5 stars, where the food I would say was a 3 (a good 3!). Service was outstanding - the bartender was friendly and available as was the rest of the staff and we thought they were all good at their jobs. Atmosphere inside is awesome. Copy and modern. The patio can get noisy depending on what's going on around DOCO. We will be adding this to the rotation before Kings games!Parking: City event parking around DOCO available. Mostly garage parking.“
“Mattone's is a gem. The lasagne is spectacular! Being vegan, they made me their house-made spaghetti with a wonderful tomato sauce. The wine selections were also great. We've had several of their pastas now and each one was exceptional. Staff is also always very knowledgeable and helpful. Just a lovely place for dinner.“
“This little wine bar occupies the location that was formerly Celestin's- we like the proximity to our neighborhood, and it's just a few doors down from the East Village Bookstore. Recommend spending an afternoon exploring the bookstore followed by some drinks at The Nook. There is also an outdoor picnic table area for folks who want to bring their dog, but it is on the parking lot so beware of pavement temps. I can't speak to the food menu, as we have only stopped in for drinks before. Overall, there is a decent selection of wines (red/white/sparkling), as well as beers, ciders, and even mocktails. During our most recent visit, my husband was interested in the vermouth. The bartender created a cocktail that was the grapefruit vermouth + sparkling wine- it was such a refreshing spritz, and we really appreciated the personal recommendation. Service here has been great each time we have visited. Pricing is a bit more expensive compared to wine bars in midtown- expected given its East Sac location. The vibes and aesthetic of the indoor space is a little confused- featuring decor such as damask ceiling hangings, resin wall art, eclectic 3D wall art, and overhead lights that are a little too bright for a wine bar.“
“Charming local wine bar with a cosy back patio - perfect for enjoying wines on a rainy day. While the by-the-glass selection is modest, there's a wealth of bottles to delight in. The staff are not only friendly but eager to share recommendations about their town. Tasty small bites and reasonable prices complete the experience. Would recommend!“
“Scorpio Coffee is a unique gem in town which I have been visiting regularly since it opened. They use quality caffeine: coffee sourced from top-rated roasters nationwide and matcha that is unmatched in Sacramento! If you’re a newer visitor: anticipate seeing a new and delicious specialty drink and food menu (ft. locally sourced, in-season ingredients) that is different from previous visits or menus posted online. There is almost always a line, especially on weekends and there is limited seating indoors. Outdoor seating is weather dependent but could easily accommodate bigger parties. Overall Scorpio Coffee will be better enjoyed by those who are looking for an incredible coffee and dining experience and not a quick bite with coffee. That being said, I regularly take my order to-go but it is always worth any wait!“
“Very rapid and kindly service. Restaurant was very nice and clean. It's a midtown restaurant, so remember that it's going to be more quaint, but that being said, it fit my party of 12 rather easily. Staff were attentive and prompt. And last but not least, food selection and quality was top notch.“
“Four of us enjoyed a wonderful experience last night at Moxie. From the crab appetizer to the mouthwatering desserts, the evening was fantastic. The host, the service, the generous portions of food, and the atmosphere were glorious! The presentation of each course was amazingly prepared. If you want a special night out, Moxie is the place to go!Parking: Going early there was no problem on the street near the restaurant.“
“Gluten free fryer & so many delicious options! The ? burger is always incredibly satisfying & perfectly cooked. Gluten free bun is top quality & yummy ? fries ?Dietary restrictions: Gluten free fryer & delicious gluten free ? bread. Celiac safe!“
“Went for the first time for our 33 anniversary. The services and food was amazing. The focaccia bread and butter were extraordinary. Even the Butter was awesome, creamy and best we've had. The beet salad was a piece of art, both to the palate and to my eyes. Tomato onion soup was outstanding. The entrees of scallops were good but the duck confit casserole was incredible. Perfect portions. Water glasses never got to half empty. Great experience and staff made it very special. Thank you to all of the Waterboy staff, made the night special.“
“One of our favorite places to eat!!! Super close to our house off Antelope rd. A must try if you’re looking for good Italian food without breaking the bank. The owner is great, he sometimes has a bounce house setup out front and you can also book it with your birthday reservations. We just had dinner there tonight and good conversations with the staff. You’ll love it“
“omg love the ambiance and atmosphere of this place. Smells good, the vibe was vibin, the owners who are mother and daughter were so warm, welcoming and personable. The wine was great, the charcuterie board I ordered was fantastic. Definitely recommend“
“Nestled in the heart of Sacramento, this hidden gem of a restaurant has consistently stolen our hearts with its exceptional offerings. Boasting a seasonal menu that celebrates the freshest farm-to-fork ingredients, each visit is a delightful journey through the finest flavors. The culinary team's prowess shines through in every dish, but the standout for me has to be the seasonal scallops over risotto. The innovative twist of changing the risotto with each season adds an element of surprise, making it a tough task to choose a favorite. Yet, somehow, each rendition manages to surpass the previous, leaving a lasting impression of culinary excellence. The intimate ambiance of the restaurant sets the perfect stage for a romantic evening. Dim lighting, cozy corners, and window view create an atmosphere that's both sophisticated and inviting. It's no wonder that this has become our go-to choice for elevated date nights. Moreover, when we have guests in town, it's the first place we want to showcase - a testament to the restaurant's universal appeal. What truly sets this establishment apart is the extraordinary service. The warm welcome from the moment we step through the door, orchestrated by the owner and his attentive staff, is unparalleled. The personal touch, as the owner takes the time to walk through and greet each table, adds a special charm. It's this level of commitment to customer experience that transforms a meal into an unforgettable dining event. In a city filled with dining options, this restaurant stands out not only for its delectable cuisine but also for the complete experience it offers. For those seeking a perfect blend of seasonal delicious cuisine, intimate ambiance, and impeccable service, this culinary haven remains unmatched. Each visit feels like a celebration, making it a top choice for creating lasting memories.“
“Quite solid for the area. Caesar split was more than enough. Two 8 oz filets with strong sides. Decent wines (I had the Faust). It's not Mastros but it's not priced like that either. Cool small desserts (key lime was the best) so you could try a few.“
“The food was great and so was the service. It was our first time and the server recommended some options. We took her suggestion and placed our order. 1 pepperoni, one margarita, garlic parm wings, and meatballs. Everything tasted great. Make sure you get the ranch to taste homemade and it's great on everything hehehe. :-) We will definitely be back soon.“
“We went for happy hour, and were a bit disappointed in the food options. The oysters were delicious, as were the duck fat fries, but neither very filling. When we tried to order a sandwich, we were told they were no longer on the menu (even though the menu had been updated with that specific days' specials).“
“If you like your cocktails served with a shot of pretension, this is the place for you. The drinks are quite good and taste fresh. The place is cute. It’s a good place to bring your drink snob friends, but if you are not one yourself prepare to be publicly shamed by the bartender as he looks down his nose at you. I feel like he was more focused on maintaining his superiority than helping me find a drink I’d like. On the plus side, he said he’d make me a different one if I didn’t like the one I chose. It’s a nice atmosphere for catching up with old friends, not too loud or crowded.“
“My wife and I stopped here today, and were really happy we did. I got a montepulciano and she got a glass of bubbles. We paired it with a brie and bacon flatbread and it all came together very nicely. Check them out, they've got a really nice patio across from the State Capitol and Capitol Park, so it's a nice place to relax.“
“Had a wonderful time wine tasting here! I really enjoyed the standard flight to try some red and white wine. The charcuterie boards were fantastic with the wines. The ambiance was very relaxing and great service. They also have a room downstairs for private parties.“
“Tasty food, upscale casual ambience. My friend and I each ordered the salmon BLT, mine with fries and theirs with salad. Generous portions, delicious food, affordable prices. Sit in the cafe, the bar or outside on the front patio, wherever you can snag a table at this popular restaurant.“
“I came in with my friend on a Tuesday night which is "couples night" and let me just say we had an excellent experience ! From the service to the food everything was amazing . Thank you Victor , Kenji and Iliana (bartender) . The drinks were also amazing Im for sure coming back soon“
“New favorite coffee shop I guess the 2 guys working there are so cool and friendly, my friend and I had a really great conversation with them. And they have the perfect menu in my opinion, something for everyone! I personally am not a huge coffee drinker but I love smoothies, and one of the guys was kind enough to make me a special one not on the menu with fresh pineapple, blueberries and apple juice. I also had a slice of chocolate chip banana bread that was very good!! They have such a great variety of snacks and drinks so I will definitely go back to try more!“
“My partner and I I decided to celebrate our anniversary here and we had nothing short of a truly amazing experience. Our server and bartender Rhiannon was absolutely wonderful and kind and completely attentive and made sure we had the best experience possible. It was a bit slow when we came in before the dinner rush time and she even went as far as asking us if we'd like any specific music to be played during our visit. The atmosphere was quiet and nice, perfect for the romantic evening we wanted. The restaurant was clean and beautiful. I loved the options for seating as well; if you wanted a booth, table, bar seating, or even the cozy lounge type seating area.. they have it all. The food was phenomenal. We ordered the Chicken Piccata and Wild Mushroom Bucatini and were more than satisfied with presentation and taste. My partner doesn't drink but ordered the n/a lemonade and is still craving more of it a day later. I ordered a drink I can't remember the name for, but it was vodka, strawberry and basil and it was beautifully refreshing. I definitely and HIGHLY recommend this spot for a nice date night or night cap with a solid drink. They even have events like trivia and an industry night for us industry folk! Shout out to Rhiannon again for making our evening as wonderful as she is!!“
“This spot is so fun! There is a great, extensive, and well-organized menu with clever names, friendly, chatty service, and a variety of seating options (ie. inside, outside, at the counter, or a booth). I enjoyed a Cappuccino and the Rockland Omelet. The Cappuccino was foamy and the roast was full-flavored, but not bitter or acidic as some espresso roasts tend to be. The mug size was also larger than expected. The Rockland Omelet was also far more substantial in size than I anticipated as well.On a drizzly, grey morning this meal was fresh, hearty, and delicious. (I will be back to try one of the many mimosa options available.)The server/bartender clearly takes pride in their skills and knowledge of flavor pairings. On the way out I did try the Lavender Fields latte and it was exquisite! I am a huge fan of lavender-based beverages (evident from my other reviews) and this is one of the best I've had. The rich oatmilk paired with wonderful espresso and bright, herbal lavender was a cozy hug of sunshine in a cup.I will be back!Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options in nearly every section of the menu and alternative milks. This location was recommended to me because my partner is a vegetarian. It's a great spot for those who a vegetarian or are looking for more plant-based options.Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance in flat and would be easy for a wheelchair user to navigate. My only criticism is a wheelchair or walker user would need assistance with the restroom door, but otherwise the restroom has a single-occupany accessible stall, and the sink doesn't sit too high for most wheelchair users.“
“I've had my fair share of excellent dining experiences, from hole-in-the-walls to critically acclaimed restaurants, and Allora easily tops them all. The food is both provocatively artful and exquisitely delicious - a surprisingly rare combination among high-end restaurants. The wine tasting is superbly paired with the courses. The service was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere was outstanding. I can't think of a single aspect of the experience that was anything less than perfect.“
