“If you were thinking of ordering Chinese food from your local orange chicken mill, please don't. It is difficult to find an amazing restaurant in the turgid swamp of modern Chinese victuals, and I'm very pleased to say this is one. Avoid any buffet-style offerings, and enjoy an authentic Sacramento experience at Frank Fat's.
From the moment their concierge took our vehicle away from our meager, hungry hands--to the moment our server, Luis, held the door for us on our way out--my grandmother and I had a fantastic evening we won't soon forget. She has been coming to this Sacramento hotspot since the year after it opened. (They opened in 1939)
Luis, our server, was amazing. It was my first time in the restaurant, despite my grandmother's incorrigible tenure. Luis explained to the both of us the exquisite delicacies we were soon to enjoy, and also a few that I will have to return and sample on a later occasion. We ordered the half Peking duck, the honey walnut prawns, and the delectably spicy Singapore rice noodles. It was absolutely to die for. Turns out you make a saucy little taco out of the rice buns that come with the duck. It was absolutely more awesome than I could ever describe.
We've all had honey walnut shrimp right? No, you haven't. I hate to gatekeep like that, but unless you've had this one, you legitimately haven't had the proper dish.
Right as we were winding up, and as I thought bursting my stomach open in a public place would be worth it just to taste the amazing food for a moment longer, Luis brought us a special gift: a slice of their famous banana pie. Now, although my grandma says it's different every time (she's been going for 84 years, anyone know a solid banana pie supplier?) she did say it was one of the best she has ever had. If I hadn't had the need to escort my toddling grandmother out of the restaurant as she used to do for me at Charles Cheddar's Fun Factory and the like, I would have crammed nearly that entire slice of pie in my face. I had to resign the majority to my grandmother, despite it being a sacrificial offering for my first time in the establishment.
It took like, I don't know, 3-5 minutes between when Luis dropped off our check, to when he was holding the door open for us as we left the restaurant. How was he not there and then suddenly there?? He was like Batman. My grandma has to hold on to me and we kind of have to do ballet to get through narrow spots and doorways without her loosing her balance, so this was a godsend in itself. If the service up until this point hadn't been amazing already, this would have secured Frank Fat's a spot in my heart.
Thank you, Luis, you rock. Managers you better read this and give that dude a raise. I'm serious, I'll come back and ask about it; I don't wanna be a Karen, but I will for Luis. I'm just joking, but really. Guys. Recognize that man's amazing service. In fact, everyone there was absolutely amazing. Our busboy or whatever his job title is got my grandma her coffee order, and I could tell that's not really his gig. But, she got it as fast as an amazing coffee could be brewed and delivered. Thanks dude, wish I got his name.
I hope I got Luis' name right. Oh jeez. Ohhh jeez.
I had my leftovers and got the inspiration to write this. Full disclosure here: I've never felt more free and loose. A meal here might help your marriage. Idk, I'm not a doctor, and I went with my grandma.
Frank I'm guessing is no longer with us, wild assumption (85 years), but my oh my if he didn't birth the most amazing Chinese food restaurant I've ever been to, then I'll be a Peking duck.“

“Ate dinner with my husband and our toddler and had an amazing time. John was a great server and the food and drinks were awesome. Food was elevated but atmosphere was relaxed which was great.
Kid-friendliness: Good options on kid menu including pasta which our daughter loved. Our server put her order in early so we didn't have to deal with a hangry toddler.“

“Creative yet very delicious food. From appetizers to main dishes all taste fresh and scrumptious! We didn’t have room for appetizers because they give big portions. Well worth the $! However the noise level is loud for me if you want to have good conversation.“

“Just being honest and frank. Over-rated. Food good but nothing here that wowed the palate. I can only say that what others have posted is certainly not true. Obviously they want to fill the place up but the dining experience is mediocre at best and the atomosphere certainly doesn't warrant a 5 star rating. How about sticking to your dress code, and actually having staff act according to Michelin star acclaim. I would have given it a 3 if not for the manager actually acting as if it were a high end restaurant.“

“Had an intimate wedding and reception here. Great staff and owners were very helpful in setting up the event. Excellent food with a variety of choices. Handy florist next door worked well with Brickland site. Chef is former chef at Biba’s. Fresh local produce adds to menu choices.
Brickland is also great for lunch, dinner or a nice weekend brunch. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
P.S. Very nice ambiance and decor!“

“I have eaten here twice recently, on a Friday night and for Sunday brunch. Both meals were excellent. They have great fresh chips served with a variety of salsa, all of which are tasty. I am super picky when it comes to Mexican food but love this place. The service is great and its super cute. I highly recommend Centro to you.“

“Had the Rhiza Carnitas bowl, which was delivered to my table for one quite quickly. It smelled wonderful, the grilled onions and rhiza (the mushroom-based "carnitas") were hot and flavorful. Hasn't had rhiza before, it was cherry and substantial. Didn't really taste like carnitas, but tbh wasn't actually expecting it to. There was plenty of quinoa, avocado, sweet potatoes, greens and sauces to round out the bowl and make it interesting. Very filling meal! Service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly.“

“Incredible vegan taqueria! Instead of hitting the road early for our 6 hour drive back home, we stayed later at our Airbnb just to try this highly recommended place when they opened at 11am. WORTH IT! My husband has been craving birria since we went vegan earlier this year, and the quesabirria burrito was outstanding. I got the chile relleno plate which was also fantastic. Got the corn tortillas that come with it, they're made fresh in house and SO good! And both dishes were a lot of food. Very filling. We're gonna plan another Sacramento trip just to eat here again.“

“We really enjoyed this place. Good atmosphere. They have a bar, and it's a good place to watch sports while you grab a bite or drink. Establishment and restrooms were clean during my visit. I really loves their waffle style fries and the skinny French fries.

“Rev is absolutely the most innovative restaurant in Midtown when it comes to vegan offerings - the chef makes thoughtful, complex, delicious dishes. This is my favorite restaurant in Midtown for business lunches because of the breadth of options for vegans and carnivores alike. And!! They update the menu seasonally so it doesn’t get “stale”. A great experience all around. 6 stars!“

“10/12/2021 Recommend? Yes. Let's get straight to the point: BEST VEGAN BUN BO HUE. That's it. I'm Vietnamese and since my vegan journey of more than 2 years I haven't been able to find a satisfactory bun bo hue. My favorite ones ever have always been in Viet Nam at a little stall in the market or the neighborhood house that makes it to sell. Here I ordered bun bo hue and cha gio. Do take my review with a grain of salt because I had been hungry for daysssss, well really just 1 day because I was on a train. Lol. The bun bo hue here comes with a paste and you should definitely add it to your bowl. It has banana blossom as a veggie to add, but in addition to that I would also love some morning glory. The broth was well seasoned and not overly sweet like a lot of over bun bo hue and the mushrooms, tofu, and "meats" have well absorbed the flavor of the broth too. The cha gio (eggrolls, spring rolls) were fine. I didn't hate it, but I didn't think they were extra great either.“

“I finally had the opportunity to try Burger Patch in Sacramento. I've been following this plant-based burger place on Instagram ever since my partner went to visit last year. And it was every bit as good as I hoped it would be. I LOVED the food! Hearing the owner talk about the values behind Burger Patch as a business and how they live those values is so admirable. They aren't just another business saying they care about the environment, or saying they believe Black Lives Matter, or that women should have equal opportunity to men, or that workers deserve a living wage. They're actually continuously finding new ways to live these values, and the staff get to participate in ideas of how to do that. As a result, Burger Patch pays good wages, 50% of their kitchen leadership are women, they were one of the first in Sac to come out with a statement after George Floyd and participate as a business in protests, and of course, they are saving animals and the environment as they are entirely plant-based. THIS is the type of business that I am absolutely thrilled to support. If you're ever in Sacramento, you 100% MUST try Burger Patch!“

The owner is super friendly, and the staff is equally welcoming and attentive. “Friday, 10/25/2024 - Tried "Pho Viet Anh" for dinner for the 1st time. Address is 9529 Folsom Blvd A, Sacramento, CA 95827. They have a nice medium parking lot. We found parking right away. Domino's Pizza is in the front of the building and they are towards the back. Upon arrival....
Pros
1) There was no wait. We seated ourself.
2) the waiter was very nice and patient with us. He let us review the online menu.
3) they didn't provide any hard copy menu. You have to scan the QR code for the menu. It's located on the table.
4) we got the strawberry Lemonade drink ($5.00). It was very tart. A little hard to drink. But we dranked it.
5) We got the large combo pho ($17.00) with the greens on the side. The broth was good. We didn't need to put any of the sauce condiments into the pho broth. We just ate it as is.
6) we got the chicken viet sandwich ($10.20). Sandwich was really good. But watch out. The jalapeño is super spicey. We removed a few jalapeño and the made it less spicey.
7) water tasted good. No funky or metal taste.
8) clean. Our table, chairs, utensils plates, bowls, cups looked clean.
9) they did check on our table to make sure all was good and if we needed anything else.
Cons
1) the menu is small. not much to choose from. But it makes it easier to pick something to eat.
Conclusion
We liked this restaurant. Customer service was great. Food menu is small, but perfect. Made it easier to pick something quickly. Pho was delicious. Chicken viet sandwich was great. Parking was easy. We didn't have any wait time. We'd go here again.“

“Came on a Saturday morning to enjoy the brunch and caffeinated beverages. They had the garage doors rolled up for an open feel in the quirk cafe with tons of character. Staff were friendly and food came fast. I got the vegan breakfast strata, a mocha, horchata, and two shortbread cookies. Everything was top notch because it’s all made in house! The menu is almost all vegan and clearly indicated what was vegan. There was a bunch of scones and cookies and all were vegan as well. Such a great spot that I highly recommend and can’t wait to to check out again!“
