The man who seated us highly encouraged us to sit at the bar, I usually don’t like sitting at the bar but he made a silly joke about how on dates it’s best to sit at the bar so your date is forced to be next to you! So funny! Once seated service was immediate super fast. It was so fun to watch Chef Frank and the other Chefs prepare all the food it was truly impressive! “Gift card scam. Mikunis implemented a new protocol in 2022. Any gift cards that were purchased before a certain (unknown) date, and now utilized, will be zeroed out. Back story: I attempted to use a gift card today (April 2023) and was informed it had a zero balance. The server kept my card. I had a gut feeling, asked for the card back. I spoke to the manager about how I could have a zero balance when I had never used it. The manager informed me that corporate zeroed out all gift cards that weren’t used. In order for me to get my money on the gift card, I have to call corporate headquarters and “request” an inquiry; which I did to no avail. It’s not about “expired” gift cards. It’s about not informing consumers ahead of a new rule that gift cards be zeroed out before a certain date. I’ve used 10 year old gift cards at other restaurants without any problem. Biggest scam ever.“

She will not eat raw fish, and she ate their sushi burritos and said we need to eat there more often. They could use some more flavoring/sauces in them, but they tasted fresh and healthy. Prices vary from lunch to dinner was $27, plus drinks and takeout box was $6 time a tiny box that only fits 8 shushi. Order digitally from the table. This place is always packed, arrive early. Ice cream is one scoop per bowl, so order two for each person. Same with appetizers 2 pieces per order, so order more than one! Not bad for the prices. If you love shushi this is the place for you!“

Ok, so, I have legitimately been recommending this spot to people since 2011, when I used to frequently drive with buddies from UC Davis to enjoy the incredible made to order all you can eat setup. During the past 15 years, I have never been disappointed leaving Azukar. When I walk out, I am super full and super happy every single time.

The all you can eat menu is the way to go for most patrons, and the pricing is still a great deal when you consider how many amazing things can be chosen and the outstanding quality of the food. Such a variety here: countless rolls, nigiri, sashimi, carpaccio, bento boxes, sides, desserts, everything. I have tried many items in my many visits, and while everything is delicious, my personal favorite is the 49er Roll. The last two times I went, I wound up eating 10 orders of it, while also enjoying some other items.

Their customer service is also exceptional! The team at Azukar is very friendly and very attentive. It has been lovely seeing some of the same faces for so many years.

“This is my favorite restaurant in Sacramento without question. I moved to the area about three years ago now, and it quickly became my go-to comfort food. Even when the pandemic started and the restaurant shifted to takeout-only, the food remained consistently excellent. I also want to say 'thank you' to the couple that runs the restaurant as well. “Absolutely the best sushi in Sacramento. I discovered them on a date, we decided sushi on a whim when the raman place several blocks into mid town was closed. It was during the transition of new ownership before their official re-grand opening. They had for the first time cut their dry aged tuna sashimi. My girlfriend and I had just finished and we're about to pay when the owners stopped us for a sampling after we had just finished one of the best sushi meals we have ever had.

The dry aged sashimi was the icing on the cake, it had a clean and buttery flavor. The fish melted in our mouths and was unlike anything we had ever had before. Since then we have gone back several times and it has become our favorite restaurant.

The spicy edamame is also the best I have ever eaten, the other dry aged options available are also just as amazing.

I highly recommend ordering the real hand grated wasabi and skipping the stuff from the tube. If you order the dry age, it comes with a serving that for us was able to be used across 2 rolls.

The presentation of the food also met every expectation I could have had entering the restaurant.“

“The staff are very friendly and professional. The food is delicious. I’ve never been unsatisfied with a dish I’ve ordered here, and we probably go once a month. The Lion King roll and Crazy Roll are personal favorites. The agedashi tofu and bbq albacore are also quite good! The restaurant doesn’t have the biggest footprint so it can get busy and a little loud during peak dinner hours. However, if you’re going for lunch or early dinner then it’s a very nice and relaxing place to be.“
