“I can’t believe I was the only one there. This place should be packed!! I got the “carnitas” and the crispy tacos. Incredible! Vegan or not, you can’t go wrong. It was sooo good!Vegetarian options: All vegan but tastes like authentic mexican food.“
“Great service. It was so helpful with their recommendations of tacos since there are so many choices. This evening it is raining, and due to that, they gave a discount. Fair prices already. Great little place. Friendly people. Really good food.“
“Amazing tacos i gotvthe quesabirrias and they were loaded with meat and cheese and nice and crispy tortillia flavor was 10/10. We also got the birria raman. It was amazing i even ordered one for me for later. Will defenatly come back and try other things on the “
“I was hesitating about eating at another Mexican taqueria because I'm not from this area, but let me tell you that I will definitely come back and I can't wait to do that. service great ,and the restaurant was clean, including the restroom. the food was very good tasting and I know Mexican food. the salsas were fresh and tasty. great atmosphere and very busy..I'll be back!“
“Service excellencent. Cash or check only. No bueno Coffee tasty. Small cups though. Like larger cup so less refills Had chili Colorado w flour tortillas. Tortillas were hot hot hot! Tasted homemade Chili Colorado w papás had decent flavor. Not like I'm used to but good. I just wish there was more flavor to it and a tad more serving size. I marked down 1 star for no CC and small serving size. Good neighborhood staple“
“Excellent food! Dined in with my partner on a Tuesday evening. The place was decently busy, both dine in and carry out. I started with two pupusa, one birria and one chicken. My partner had the bean and cheese and the Loroco flower and cheese pupusas. We were also given a side salad of what I'd call a slaw. It was delicious, sort of a spicy flavor and went well with my pupusas. I really enjoyed my burria pupusa and ordered another to round out my meal. The birria pupusas come with a consome that I thoroughly enjoyed. They also have two salsa/sauces they bring to the table and both are quite alright. I will certainly be back and look forward to trying out the rest of the menu.“
“Have you ever loved a place so much that you don’t want to share it because if everyone finds out it’ll too busy?!?!? lol It's true! This place is the best! Everything… I mean EVERYTHING on the menu is great! Chilaquiles, wet burritos, tacos, tamales, papusa… it’s all amazing! When you dine in they give your table a plate of chips & beans(I’m not the biggest bean person)…bomb! The people there don’t speak too much English, but enough to take your order. Don’t be scared, they’re the sweetest people! So show your love for one of the best mom & pop restaurants in town.“
“I went to tipsy putt for the first time last week to attend drag bingo for my birthday. Bingo was fun! Arrive early to get seats and get your bingo cards from the bar. When you walk in, you have no idea where to go for bingo. Once you do get to the seats where it's at, it's still a little confusing. I just sat down, not knowing you're supposed to walk up to the bar to get your cards ($5 for 10 cards). You also order food/drinks at the bar.My friends ordered nachos. They were good. Chip to topping ratio was off though. The place looks fun with other various games to play.I will be back for bingo tho. I really enjoyed the host."Oohhhh yyyeeeaaahhhh"“
“I'm adding this place to my list of local favs! Food is delicious with lots of vegetarian options - I highly recommend the mole cheese enchiladas. They also have lots of living plants inside - overall, I'm impressed and will return.“
“*Happy Hour Chronicles*I'm only mad I didn't try their happy hour sooner. Could NOT have been more impressed with their flautas and guacamole, utter perfection ?And my friend and I were lucky to have the sweetest and most attentive waitress!! One of my favorite social outings in a while, it's the perfect time and place to sit outside and soak in the free vitamin D!“
“It's the door that is right next to the la Esperanza grocery store and it always has a line it's always busy but it's really worth the wait I always get the chicken burrito and it comes with the beans and rice ECT and it's pretty filling and a decent size and the prices aren't outrageous very affordable. Listen u have like 5 to 10 bucks you're going to get at decent meal breakfast lunch or dinner.“
“This is one of my favorite places they are so catering to your taste and the food is delicious if you go in and you have a craving for some particular for Mexican food this is the place to go the little but they have a big heart and they serve their food with “
“This place just might be one of my top 5 taco spots. The tortillas on the street and crunchy tacos are perfect, the meat is amazing, the chips are fresh and the salsas are really good. The horchata is also really good. Most of the great tacos Ive had are from taco trucks but this Taqueria might just have the best Ive had yet. I strongly recommend the chicken and asada. 5/5.“
“The people here are very nice. The burritos are very good with a fantastic portioning of meat and ingredients and perfectly cooked beans, by far the most consistent and traditional burrito I have had in years. The tacos were also very good with limes included. The complimentary salsa was good and tasted homemade and flavorful. I highly recommend this place especially if you're someone who's tired of all the generic uninspired Mexican food around Sacramento, this establishment will be a breath of fresh air and a taste of great food.“
“Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday, and sadly the place was completely empty. Given the great reviews, I tried it anyway and am glad I did. I had the "Sunny" Burger, and it was fantastic. Cooked perfectly, moist, and flavorful. Best burger I have had in a while. Friendly staff, fast service. Check this place out and do not be afraid to be the only guest.“
“We had been here a couple of times and the food was great, but we were there a week ago and it was horrible. The service was lacking, and the food was sub-par. I ordered the super burrito and the carne asada tasted burnt and had a terrible aftertaste. Debating whether we’ll return.“
“My family came in for a nice easy dining experience and we left with that and so much flavor. This place serves authentic cuisine at reasonable prices in a very chill clean environment. My wife got some veggie tacos, my daughter got a black bean carne asade kids burrito with fresh fruit slices and pineapple mango agua Fresca, and I got the birria taco plate with one extra taco. The food came out with a lovely display. I would have, and should have, taken pictures but the smells were so intoxicating the food did not stand a chance. The dipping of the birria was so good this rainy evening. I will be back and be bringing my appetite. Thank you for a wonderful easy night out.“
“Best chicken zinger burger and wrap in Sacramento. The taste and quantity is wholesome! love zingers and couldn’t find any decent restaurant in the US. That’s all I’ve tried and I can testify it’s not at all disappointing.Small review - Chicken is a little over cooked could be juicier. You can further improve it by adding more flavor of sauce like tandoori mayo!May Allah bless your work??“
“Love the murals in this establishment! The service was rapid, and the greetings by the person who took the order and gave it to me were friendly. The flavor was outstanding for the food. I purchased two Carne asada burritos to go. I took one all the way back home in Montana for my Mr.- he concurred.“
“This is the perfect time lunch spot after the zoo, fairy tale town. They service breakfast till 2 on Saturday! My daughter loves breakfast [pancakes] her friend we brought only likes chicken littles [nuggets] and I was craving a taco so bad. This place made it all happen! We been back 3 times!Kid-friendliness: Have kids menu with america and Mexican food.“
“When I say I love this place I mean I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Omg it's so good, service, food and drinks!!! If you happen to be driving by off Northgate do yourself a favor and stop in. They have a patio in back as well! The ambiance is very inviting.“
“This place is a historic restaurant that caters to many Sacramento locals. Generally very consistent with their entrees. probably the worst item in their menu is the chips and salsa that arrived on your table. very mediocre. But let's judge this place for their cuisine. They are very proud their entrees are prepared with lard. Yes, that rendered animal by-product that adds so much flavor. So what did we order: 1) chili verde: large serving of very tender pieces of pork in a flavorful sauce. Just a hint of spiciness. the rice and beans are also very good especially the beans which were probably made with lard. very hearty dish that also comes with flour or corn tortillas-but no longer home made. 2) 3 item combo: 2 homemade pork tamales with tender pork filling wrapped in a very moist flavorful masa. What helps these tamales is the homemade tamale sauce. yum yum yum. The accompanying beef quesadilla is also very flavorful with ground beef and cheese and grilled on a flat top. another tasty item The food here is very good. But i also sense my arteries are clogging after having this meal. Be prepared for taking food home because the portions are large.“
“10/10 the tacos are huge! They have tons of meat and the salsas are chefs kiss! The buche is my favorite! It's super tender and perfect amount of salty. The service was quick and good. The girl at the counter was super patient and kind. It's a pretty big seating area, you order at the counter and take a number. They bring it to the table. They have chips and a salsa bar that's all self serve! The sour cream with jalapeños are sooooo good with the chips. Def will be coming back !“
“I came in during my lunch break just to try a place near by. I am so glad I came in here! I ordered a super breakfast burrito with asada and some salsa verde on the side. The salsa was so good and the burrito was delicious! Also, the customer service was really great. It felt homely and comforting. I would love to come back here again and try new things.“
“Super clean ! When i went the ladies had the dining area immaculate and we're very attentive as we ate. 10/10 would recommend anyone nearby to try the carne asada fries, quesabirria and fish tacos. Super generous portions served as well.“
“Came here as a quick pit stop and instantly became a fan of this place. You know a Mexican restaurant is going to be great by the amount of people are there in the morning. When I first walked in, the line was at the door. I ordered the menudo and a coffee. The menudo was phenomenal. Would come here again all the way from Atwater!“
“When coming here looking at the menu it could be a little overwhelming because there is so much of a delicious variety of authentic Mexican food that is made delicious and I am only a customer but I always come back their soups are delicious I recommend the menudo and that is on the weekend so that specific times so be there or be square, they have birria, and caldo de pollo o de res chicken or beef, and veggies soup,!! I definitely recommend this place . Somewhat kid friendly.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes“
“This place has THEE best birria tacos and consome. You’d never believe it’s located in a gas station. The taco shells are dipped in the consome before frying to get that taste and texture. Then they add heaps of beef. And you have to get an order of consome, it’s thick, rich and comes with chunks of beef. It’s practically a beef soup by itself! I really wish this place wasn’t across town from me or I might be visiting a dangerously amount of times. Seriously come here. After having the birria tacos and consome here, I haven’t been able to find another place in Sacramento. The only down side I really don’t like is that blast the music way to loud in there! I get it you want to play music to fit the vibe of your food and that’s all fine, but the noice is just too loud. Atmosphere would be a lot better is they simply lowered the volume.“
“Excellent service! We were a bit late for our reservation on Saturday 3/23 and had to be at a show, so I was concerned we wouldn't have enough time to be seated, eat, and pay. The whole crew from the hostess staff, the back of house chefs, and the waiter went out of their way to make our experience pleasant. They didn't know that the dinner and show were a gift for my 15 year old son's birthday, and that they had a part in setting the night on the right foot. The place just seemed to be run well. The food came out hot and we enjoyed each dish, the ambiance is really warm and inviting with cool art, and the prices are reasonable. We'll be back to try some Vegan dishes next time we're in downtown Sacramento!“
“Met a friend here on Friday evening to catch up. We each had yummy Happy Hour food - the quesadilla and the fish tacos - and a delicious cocktail. We ate out on the patio as it was a nice evening and they turned the heater on for us. Zocalo can be counted on for good food, great cocktails and a lovelyatmosphere.“
“Newly opened. The recipes tasted like they came from Grandma's kitchen . Like comfort food from Heaven. Had the camaron burrito. Fresh ingredients and made with love. Staff is really friendly. TV 's are on for sports, etc. Near Sacramento St and geared to a wide variety of clientele. I'll be back.Vegetarian options: All dishes can be made sans meat“
“Had the quesabirria taco with consume. SO GOOD! Our waiter was very kind and had a great personality. Went with family members for a "girls lunch" on a Saturday. Very family friendly. One ordered the birria ramen (bomb), another the flautas (just ok), and the last had the shrimp cocktail (yum). We had a great experience and will definitely be back :)Parking: If you miss the entrance, turn the corner and there's plenty in the back of the building.Kid-friendliness: Very family friendly“
“First time here and it was hella good!! I had two fish tacos and it was so fresh and you can tell the tortillas are made from scratch. Everything is reasonably priced. The whole time while I was sitting there, there was a constant stream of people coming in and out. I'm definitely going back. I was always curious about the place when I'd drive by. A straight forward menu but good variety.“
“This place is so accommodating and sweet. I ordered breakfast burritos for my coworkers and bosses for a birthday celebration. I start at 8am and they open at 8am. The lady said she could have everything ready for us at 8am which they totally did and even packed us silverware. It was so easy and the burritos were so good. We have been a few times after. So far we have ordered the Breakfast Asada and Chorizo burritos, Torta with carnitas and added guacamole, Adobada Tacos, Birria de Res Taco, Chorizo Taco, Enchiladas, and Chicken Taco. Drinks we had the Horchata, Melon, Horchata Limon (together), and Strawberry Lime agua frescas. The agua frescas are so refreshing. The food is bomb. I did not really care for the cafe de olla.“
“Driving back to the Bay Area famished, after a full day of groomer-warriors antics in Tahoe, my friends and I decided to stop in Sacramento to stretch and replenish our weary bones. We turned off on J Street and trolled the area for the first establishment that would meet our unanimous approval. After going around a few times, we spotted and agreed on a Mexican taqueria called La Fiesta Alteña. When we walked in, it was immediately evident that this was much more than a taqueria. The expansive menu, consisting of meats, seafood, salads, soups (including menudo), chips & salsa bar, and even tap beers, has something for every possible inclination or preference for the cuisine. Struggling to decide from all the enticing options, I finally approached the counter and asked if they have any specialty. Well ok, that's not exactly how I asked, I generally (and jokingly) like to ask what they're world famous for. In any case, the young lady was a good sport and I agreed to try her suggested Alhambra Burrito. Now to the meat of my review (pun intended). Our table was served quickly and went immediately quiet, as we all dug in without hesitation. But soon the moans of approval started, followed by "this is so good!" and "uh-huh" statements. My burrito recommendation delivered big time, it was a generous portion of meaty and spicy goodness with every bite, which I initially doubted being able to finish but woofed down in no time. The spaciousness and high ceilings of the restaurant make it visually appealing and keeps background noises down. And last, but certainly not least, the staff is awesome. From the order taker (who laughed at my corny joke-big points!), to the helpful busboy, and the manager who checked in on us, everyone seemed to enjoy working there and having us. I only wish that they were closer to home.“
“I ordered using their website which was easy and convenient. I got the mangonada chunks, horchata late with almond milk, and the esquite (street corn). Everything was delicious. I would post a picture but I already ate it all. The fruit was fresh and perfect. The corn wasn’t dry. And the latte is my favorite from their menu specifically with almond milk.“
“The people are really nice. I always get the flour tortilla tostada bowl it is one of the best and it costs less here than most places. I like the yellow rice I don't care for the red rice. My daughter always gets a bean and cheese burrito my son gets a bean taco. The fish tacos are really good. I can feed my family dinner here for $50“
“I lived in Natomas for most of my life and I have never visited this Mezcal Grill location - we usually go to the one closer to East Sacramento. We came in on a Friday at 8pm and the place was pretty busy, but we were seated right away. There was inside and patio seating and everything felt clean and modern. We ordered the Soft Flour Ground Beef Tacos and Crispy Chili Verde Tacos. The crispy tacos were not hot and neither was the rice and beans on either plate. The ground beef was super salty, to the point where I couldn't even finish and I like salt. Service was great and friendly, but I was not a huge fan of the food we ordered compared to the other location. I kept seeing other customers ordering the Molcajete so maybe we just ordered the wrong items. We'll give them another chance next time we're in the area!“
“My first time trying this place in all the years I’ve lived in natomas. It was so delicious! I went Sunday morning right when they open at 8 for Menudo, and it was the best I’ve had in a long time! It definitely reminded me of when my grandma use to make it. The service was fast and everything was fresh and reasonably priced. The kid that took my order was super nice and packed everything up nice to go. This will be my new place to go for menudo on Sundays! They also off we fresh corn tortillas with it, which are really good!“
“The owner was very nice & shared her experience with me, the food was very good, I wish I would've ordered extra beans & rice tho ? it meant alot cause I grew up n the area & that building was always vacant, hope they do very “
“Just went to Centro for the first time & liked everything we tried. First of all, the location & atmosphere is nice. The staff was friendly helpful with recommendations. Pre-meal chips & salsa verde were great. I had the chorizo burrito with rice & black beans on the side—all great & made in-house. We tried four different types of tacos. Carne asada & pollo were the two best but they were all super good. No complaints & we will definitely return to try more from the menu!“
“Hey let's start with the atmosphere... It's cold at least at this time of the year and the tables, chairs, walls are dated. But then when the food comes out... MAGIC! what an incredibly delicious vegan treat for us. We ordered three different options and each equally incredible.Vegetarian options: If you're vegan or vegetarian then you owe it to yourself to try this out. I give it a 9 out of 10 on the quality and fun of this place.“
“A lot of reviews nowadays are just fake. But in reality, this place was clean and attractive. The color of the place and the different ingredients in the food made it especially welcome for newcomers who have never tried Birria. The food was good, I had the Qeusotacos and the orange spicy sauce on the side along with a green sauce, both of which were filled with flavor and added that special kick to your food. So if your ever in the mood for some good food that will hit the spot, try La Mini Birrieria.“
“I must say I loved this place, the food was very hot and freshly made, I have heard about this place and how good their food is and it did not disappoint, however service was not good, guy at the register seemed overwhelmed with online and App orders and had us wait for 7 minutes, when we were the only customers Dinning in in the Restaurant.“
“If you like to adventure with your tacos and like a bit of diversity in the flavors, this place is the spot!! The combinations of tacos they mash up are insane like banh mi, pork belly, butter chicken, tuna! And the cocktails are also delicious. I wish they were a bit stronger but it made them super delicious. My absolute favorite taco of all was the pork belly that was a close tie with the banh mi taco. The meat was so tender and flavorful, it was literally dripping down my arm. I loved that they matched the taco bread with the dish like the banh mi was in a softer bread and the tuna was in a lettuce wrap and the butter chicken taco was in a naan bread. They also have exciting new tacos all the time to try, and my personal favorite the “secret taco”. The “secret” taco is a daily rotating taco that has new flavors the chef decided to put together. You don’t know what it is when you order, so it’s a fun gamble. Also there’s chips and salsa come out in tortas not tortilla chips which was different but both salsas were yummy. I’m only not giving it a 5 because the day I took my friend with me here, it was a hot sacramento summer day & their AC broke. We were literally sweating throughout our entire meal it was so hot.“
“I came to visit my hometown plainview, born and raised here!!,I wanted to see the Iglesia catholic, but I think it's closed ...and the "Lopez tiendita also closed down,I guess Rafael and Celia,no longer around, they were my padrinos, they baptized me when I was a baby....now I'm 43,but never forget them....I left plainview when I was 24 yrs old,now live in New York...but come to visit my cousins here in plainview!!!“
“Interesting place where you can enjoy the company of friends and others. You sort of forget your surroundings when you step inside. Sample the imported beer or the great selection of food. I've tried many of the menu items and none have left me dissatisfied.Parking: Limited lot spots. Street parking sometimes a couple blocks away.Kid-friendliness: More of an adult location. Not the best for full families.“
“Best consume I have had in Sacramento! My personal favorite meat is the Carne asada, but everything I tried was top tier. It is a food truck with some picnic tables with some of the best tacos in sac!Parking: Parking behind the structure has like 6 spots“
“There are a lot of trucks outside, which made me curious. Huge carved figures stand outside and invite you to stop by. The restaurant is very large and you can look directly into the kitchen and watch the preparation. I chose something Mexican from the menu. It was only a little spicy, but a huge portion.Parking: There are lots of parking spaces right around it... 100+“
“Found the place on Yelp. I try to find places that have Mexican shrimp cocktails, in hopes they have campechana which just adds octopus. Top marks for their campechana here! It has more kick than most, so I really like it. The hostess was very helpful when I custom designed a dish to try to hit keto, on a different day. So I ate here four meals in three days on a business trip. I took a road trip during the week and had shrimp cocktail an hour up the road… This one is way better. I would look forward to coming back here for the food.Dietary restrictions: Hostess readily customized a dish for my keto request“
