Authentic and British to the core, these folks have great food, wonderful quality, fast service and fantastic attitude. They provide awesome catering services, too. Always delicious baked goods and a sunny disposition from the owners and staff - order ahead - everything they make is popular. 5-stars all the way!

I was on the hunt for something sweet to curb my cravings, and thanks to my girlfriend's suggestion, we stumbled upon the Great British Bake Shop. Even though we arrived close to closing time and some goodies were already sold out, this little gem left a big impression.I managed to get my hands on a lemon tart, despite not being a fan of lemon-flavored desserts. To my surprise, this lemon tart was a game-changer! It was absolutely amazing and blew my taste buds away. The staff was not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable about their products. Their enthusiasm was infectious, making the visit even more enjoyable.I'm already looking forward to returning during earlier hours so I can explore the full range of delectable baked goodies before they sell out. If you're in the area, don't miss the Great British Bake Shop. It's a delightful spot for satisfying your sweet tooth, and I can't recommend it enough!

What a wonderfully delicious find! Savory or sweet the pastry is flaky and lovely. Very friendly owner/bakers too.

I have visited this charming little shop in Salinas several times but yesterday bought two Cottage Pies and four Sausage Rolls. The qualify of the food is outstanding and for anyone who is looking for authenticity when it comes to British Food, this is your place. The workers are courteous and helpful; they clearly enjoy their work. The shop is simple and orderly, and everything is easy to see. It's got a charming atmosphere, just like an English bakery. A must visit !!!

I was so surprised and excited to find this place in the middle of downtown Salinas, on YELP. Just off Main Street it's a wee bit of a place you might miss if driving by. I could hardly believe the prices, so reasonable and the menus are easily visible with a lovely display of home made pasties in the display case as you enter the shop.I ordered the beef pastie and sat outside at their one table. The crust was very nice, flaky yet soft, and the meat was flavorful with potatoes and a nice meat gravy. I liked it so much I decided to step back in, consult with the friendly staff on their favorites, and took home a steak and ale pie, said to be one of the top sellers.I'm looking forward to returning to try their shortbread, and some of their other savories.Eating here brought back sweet memories of meals past in the U.K. when we lived there for a short while.Nice to know I can find authentic British fare without having to take a plane ride across the pond.

I really, really wanted to like this place. Having been raised by a Brit, I was looking forward to the taste of home. But their shortbread is gritty, and the owner was overly condescending when I asked a question, like it was her job to educate me on British things, assuming I knew nothing. I am heartbroken at how bad my experience here was.

I was craving something sweet to satisfy my sweet tooth, and my girlfriend recommended we stop by here to try it out. They were out of a lot of goodies since we arrived near closing time, but I was able to get my hands on a lemon tart! I dislike lemon-flavored desserts, but this lemon tart blew my taste buds away!! It was amazing!! The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable about all their products. I'll stop by again at an earlier time, so I have the opportunity to try other great baked goodies before they sell out! Make sure to stop if you're in the area.

SO fresh. We happened to stop in driving through town and we were so pleasantly surprised. The pastry is so flakey and buttery and the ingredients taste so fresh. Great place to stop. Apple turnover and sausage roll are a must!

Was kind of surprised at the size of the pie, but it was STUFFED with steak. Flavor was awesome. Had a beef pasty too. It was very good. Iced tart was delicious. I'll be back!

Excellent food. Very difficult to find these goodies. The crust and filling of each dish is delectable.

The Great British Bakery is a Old Town Salinas bake shop with delicious tarts and pasties.I work within walking distance and know it very well, having been in over a dozen times. I recommend the Bakewell and Millionaire if you want something sweet. The two owners are there every day -- there's something special about small, owner-operated businesses. I feel like I can taste the difference when goods are made with love and dedication (and not sealed in plastic on the other side of the country!). It also feels good to support local businesses. And the small staff is always friendly and polite.Definitely check this place out if you want to be greeted with a smile and leave with something sweet or savory.

Friendly owner and good food. Up to UK standard? No, but better than most “English” food you’ll find anywhere near.Prices although not inexpensive are reasonable.Hours of operation are challenging if you don’t live in Salinas.Overall, I recommend a visit.
