I was with a group of 8 & service was excellent Most of the group loved their meals. I had petrale sole & felt it was significantly overly sauced. The tartuffo dessert was the best part of my meal and I did not offer to share.

I had a quad pizza...delicious.
Server was attentive.
Unfortunately, the noise level is high, tables inside, close!

This place itself is very cute, right in the heart of downtown San Anselmo. Food is ok - overpriced for what it is. My favorite thing we had was the arancini, but gnocchi was tacky and fish was just meh. Drinks were also just ok - overpriced again (the $16 glass of red wine tasted like it came from a $10 bottle of wine...there are much better glass prices and quality at other restaurants nearby). And the service was very very slow. Overall, would not recommend, and would not come back. Seeing a rat scuttle by while we were seated on the walkway from the restaurant to the creek sealed the deal for us.

A fantastic restaurant right in downtown. It is small and quaint. The service was very attentive and helpful. The food was good. Slightly better than I was expecting, but not quite worth five stars.I would definitely come back if I was in the area. It's a very solid choice for a good dinner.

Our party of four dined here last week and the food was fantastic. The salmon, the smashed potatoes, and the almond cake were the favorites. We ate al fresco, which was perfect, because Cucina has really invested in good equipment - umbrellas that really block the sun and sturdy dining tables and chairs, plus string lights. I felt like I was at a Parisian bistro. Only complaint was that our server never brought the bread we ordered.

Terrible ServiceIf it were possible I would probably rate this place a zero. My wonderful wife had planned a nice relaxing weekend getaway. She had chosen for us to have a great meal at Cucina Sa.When we arrived they sat us in an area that had NO AC. We asked if they could turn on the AC and then they told us it was broken. We asked to be moved to an area in the restaurant where they had air conditioning. They said everything was reserved but found us a table by the window in front of the restaurant. All of a sudden a cockroach fell from the ceiling and onto the table. I had informed the manager she might have cockroaches and dismissively told us “We don’t have cockroaches it could be some other bug. We have trees in front of our restaurant”.We immediately asked to be moved and then the manager attempted to move us back to the area where the AC was broken. We told her we don’t want to sit there and she said with frustration “Well it’s Saturday and we are fully booked. This is what we have. Keep in mind some other customers that must be regulars requested to be moved to another part of the restaurant and were given a nice place to sit away from the window with no issue. They finally moved us again to the air conditioned part of the restaurant to a similar table next to a window. We patiently waited for a server to take our order and one of the servers grabbed our glasses of water from the cockroach table and slammed them down and walked away. At this point my wife and I stood up and left.We will never return to this restaurant. It’s possible the food maybe of good quality. However the service from mostly the manager and a few staff is abysmal.

Busy Friday night, Arrived a few minutes early for a party of 6 reservation. The hostess wasn’t friendly, said we had no table, then went away and left me there. Not a great start . Everyone in our party had to park so far away
and were sweaty by the time they trekked the town to arrive. Luckily no one was non ambulatory or wearing too crazy of heels . Warm evening .. busy bar and next door casual pizza place( it was cool In there ) , we were put in back room that was stifling, table too small, we added a table to it, asked for ice repeatedly since water wasn’t cold. Calamari was interesting w other seafood and a bit of spice, meatball app , ahi app and the zucchini w pine nuts was excellent. I had a caprese with balsamic that was too sweet , others at table liked their meals tho I didn’t feel it was particularly special or authentic Italian. Average pastas , salmon. Bland and needed spice /herbs we thought. An almond cake for desert and the apps were stand out . We ordered montepulciano wine which was also excellent tho I couldn’t have much as it would make me even warmer . Service slow and such a hot hot room, I found it very hard to enjoy the meal which dragged on for hours perhaps because of the size of the party or the busy Friday night? A breeze finally came in through back door and of course when we left , it was so much cooler outside than in. When I used the bathroom the thermostat near the super stinky facilities read 82
it was 70s outside so yeah just not necessary. So much for wearing a nice silk blouse and styling my hair . It was one of the most miserably uncomfortable meals I can recall, which is unfortunate because the downtown is charming, the building itself beautiful and we were so looking forward to a nice evening. As we were leaving the table clean up folks seemed to be annoyed w our group in their way ..which was hilarious because they seemed annoyed when we arrived as well. We didn’t feel welcomed or appreciated at all. We didn’t linger after the meal, we ordered promptly , the service was slow so I don’t think we caused any lag . Insalata just across street is delicious and they have parking and AC . The food is excellent and imaginative at insalata. Both my husband and I were just melted when we got home and concurred that we would’ve enjoyed the company so much more in a cooler environment . Bummer
