Make sure NOT to make reservations on holidays as they do not update their availability on major holidays, make it on the small list of open restaurants available to book on OpenTable, then are absolutely closed when you arrive after a 40 minute drive in pouring rain on Christmas Day. Management, you need to do better. This comment is not the only with this feedback. The business and staff will suffer as a result of these poor reviews.

The food is delicious. I love to get their beans, green rice, super fresh tortillas, guacamole and their delicious slaw! Everything tastes very fresh and flavorful! My husband also loves their Brussels sprouts. It is one of the few places in Marin that caters to omnivores, vegetarians, vegans, and people who are gluten free! The service is always great and I love the atmosphere with the well spaced and comfortable booths! They make a great margarita!

Several families were very disappointed to arrive to find theirThanksgiving plans were to find another place to dine. Service fail

My family decided that we will celebrate Thanksgiving day with an early dinner at Marinates. I made a reservation for 5PM through Open Table. On Thursday morning, I received a text (presumably from the restaurant) asking me to confirm that we still planned to dine at Marinates. When I replied “Yes,” I received a follow-up text to let me know that my reservation was confirmed that that we would be joyfully greeted at Marinitas later in the day. Unfortunately, when my family of 5 people arrived at your restaurant at 5PM, we discovered that it was closed. We dine at Marinitas frequently and were looking forward to a comfortable experience . We had to scramble to find a small restaurant in San Rafael that was still open. Our family made the best of it, but we were all very disapointed. What really upsets me is that after the holiday, I sent two emails to Marinitas owner/manager (directly through the restaurant's website hoping at least for an explanatin/apolgy, but received no response.

I got the tacos de pescado, my husband got the carne asada tacos and we swapped 1 each for “surf n turf”. At first I was skeptical if I would still be hungry after 2 tacos, but the portions were filling. Everything from the salsa, to the fish, to the margaritas was extremely fresh. The carne asada was probably the most tender and flavorful I’ve ever had. Our server was so helpful and attentive even with our many substitutes (I don’t like dairy and my husband doesn’t like onions, so we always get them on the side when we share). The ambiance was very welcoming and fun. 5/5 would recommend and return.

We have been going to Marinitas for years! The last two times we have ordered take out have not been good! Last night we ordered Chicken tacos and rice and beans. All tasteless! The chicken was supposed to be breast of chicken was mainly dark meat and even simple black beans and green rice was different! The wonderful chips they always had way too salty! Not sure what is going on but we will be staying away for now! We hope things can turn around because it has always been one of our favorite take out spots!!!
