Went here for a somewhat large family gathering. While not the best Mexican food I've ever had the quality was good. Every one in the group seemed to enjoy their meals and my steak burrito hit the spot. Margaritas were pretty good too. Staff were friendly and attentive.
I would suggest you guys take orders at the table like a normal restaurant instead of making us go up to the front desk and order. I get that you are probably short staffed but getting our group of over 10 people to the front of the restaurant and ordered took way longer than was necessary, and we ended up making other customers wait while we got everything sorted.
While I don't mind paying for my meal before I eat it, if you are paying with a credit card it means you have to tip before receiving service, which just seems backwards to me (a tip should be a thank you).
Would go back again.
I would give Taco Jane's 5 stars except for this: we had a dozen people and they don't have a server who will come to take the order. As a result we ended up going in 3 groups to the register to order which meant the host had to go pay 3 different times because they have no way to keep a tab running. That said, the staff were all very welcoming, polite and efficient. The food was delicious, every order was correct and we had a great time.
They have great fish tacos. Their patio is really nice during the day and at night.
Such a pretty and tasty spot!!
Matt’s restaurant has been consistently excellent for the last 27 years! We’ve been away awhile and returned to his restaurant recently to amazing results. The guacamole and black salsa is wonderful. The jackfruit tacos were over the top! The Jane salad and lemonade were as expected: delicious. Love the new model of ordering upon arrival and seating oneself. Relaxed and casual. Service was SO fast!! Keep up the great work, Matt! Can’t wait to return!
Vegetarian options: Good vegan options as well.
Kid-friendliness: Yes. Matt and his staff love kids.
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, accessible.

Very Marin with low-key vibe. Casual but good food , good ingredients. Affordable in a Marin way. Decent beer selection and good cocktails.
Parking: Take the first spot you find and walk.

We ate here twice while we stayed in San Anselmo. I had the fish tacos both times because they were that good and my boyfriend had the chicken tacos and the beef burrito the second time. They both come with a really refreshing delicious salad topped with mandarin slices and jicama, and a side of rice and beans. It’s a really filling meal. You order and then seat yourself and the food is brought out promptly. The staff still checks on you while you eat. While you wait you’re brought chips and salsa. Both salsas were really good with a nice spin on the classics. As a person who grew up eating Mexican food in our household daily, I whole heartedly approve of the menu this restaurant has to offer. Everyone was very nice both times.

3rd time this summer. Really sad to say my plate was inedible. Small plate tamale with mole sauce this time. I think it could be a great spot ! That’s why I keep trying it. But sadly. No more. Owner/manager doesn’t seem to really care.

I was excited to try this place but was overall disappointed for a few reasons.
1. This is a walk up to order and sit down place. But the prices reflect table side service.
2. The food was mid, essentially a personal twist on a classic dish. It unfortunately did not improve the dish, but quite the opposite.
3. This is petty but I asked for a side of sour cream mid meal and they charged me like 3 bucks.
All in all not worth the price for the set up. Drinks were ok.

Been eating here for decades. Love the owner and staff; many of which have worked here since the late 90's when Taco Jane's opened.

I loved Taco Jane's! The menu is unique, and the flavors are surprising and extremely delicious! I had the vegetable tamale as a shared starter. It was so moist and the texture was so soft, and the flavor, slightly sweet with a mild tomatillo sauce. Served with a side salad and plantain slice. Really outstanding! Our table also ordered the nachos and the enchiladas on the special menu, chicken enchiladas with a creamy verde sauce, drunken pinto beans and rice! Friends, this is a great spot in the beautiful environment of San Anselmo! I will definitely go back to try the mole!

Taco Jane's is a quaint restaurant with an energetic and friendly waitstaff, and food that is well worth the mid-range Marin County prices. Beers on tap, indoor and outdoor seating, and the occasional bard with guitar and amp posted near the entrance give this place a fun and relaxing feel. They have many vegan friendly options. I recommend the jackfruit tacos when they are on special.
