Stopped in to Newell's for a pre dinner drink. We just kind of stumbled on this place. How does one know where to get a good cocktail when you're an out of towner!?
Well let me tell you about Newell's.. The bartender was fabulous! She wasn't even sure what a certain drink was but she more than nailed it! It was right on! My Cadillac margarita was potent! I managed to wobble out of there to my next destination.. but barely! They do not serve food but our sweet bartender brought popcorn in order to save me embarrassment! It was a fun experience and I think I may have to return!

We visited early in the evening on a Saturday. Main reason we chose this pace is it was a short walk from our hotel. Lucky for us, as it turns out, this is the quintessential neighborhood dive bar, where everybody knows your name. Our bartender was very friendly as were all of the patrons we met. We have one more night in San Bruno so after we do our touristy stuff in SF we will finish our night here!

Great dive! Wandered in here wasting time before returning my rental car and flying out of SFO. Perfect place! Exactly what I was looking for.

Solid bar. Not a lot of frills. Pool and darts in the back.
Was in San Bruno on a Thursday evening and we ordered take out but wanted to hang out more so I looked up any bars or dive bars around. I called and asked if we can bring in outside food and I think the Irish Owner answered and he said yeah sure you can bring whatever you like. So we brought out Korean fried chicken close to around 9pm and pretty much had the whole place to ourselves in the beginning. He let us turn the lights on by the table and Christmas tree and we started with beers to go with our Korean fried chicken. And we later ordered shots. It looks like they have usuals that go there. They have a pool table and play pretty good music and it wasn’t so loud. There weren’t any other places open around it and it felt really safe, there was street parking right out front. So the best of both worlds to catch up and grab a drink with friends, plus for being able to bring outside food. The owner worker was so friendly and inviting.
Awesome service!!! Fun little spot to pop in. Irish bartender was on top of our beers the entire time. A lot of locals come and go. Juke box and pool table.
My favorite kind of dive bar - dim lighting, cheap drinks and strong pours, and full of regulars nursing their beers and chatting with the bartender like old friends.

The Irish bartender used to be so kind and social now he is so bitter, always stressed out and rude... God help him!

Crazy amounts of history and a super legit current crew make this place a winner for me. The hospitality was so good, I'll make a point of coming back next time I'm in the States. Thanks Nicky.

I don’t like all the TVs, but the bartenders are always cool, the vibe in this place is great. Perfect dive bar drink before a flight.
