We stopped by Chaupain for a late lunch and were pleasantly surprised with the menu selection. We ordered the quiche and croque madame. On of my typical gripes about quiche is it's never consistently baked. Either too dry or soggy. The quiche at Chaupain was anything but that. Nice and firm, but not overly cooked, the quiche was amazing! It paired beautifully with the tomato soup. So much flavor and we enjoyed every bite!

This is a world class bakery, hidden in a humble store front. It has many items every bit as good or better than Bakery Neauveau in Seattle that's been named best bakery in America and won International first place. It's almost unbelievable. San Clemente has another French bakery/bistro named Moulin. They have superior atmosphere and excellent food but Chaupon has some of the best food I've ever eaten, including the best Paris has to offer. If you think this review is over the top, it's not. Do yourself a favor and visit.

I loved this little place. The gentleman that helped us out was very attentive. I had the raspberry cream cheese Danish. The absolute best Danish I have ever had. The atmosphere was great accompanied with great conversation.

The pastry options are amazing and so delicious! I can never decide what to get. The mushroom quiche is also savory and a favorite of mine. This cafe is great for brunch with a friend. I love the outdoors seating area.

We just discovered this amazing bakery, and absolutely love it!! Their pastries were fresh and tasted wonderful. We have ordered again several times since we discovered this wonderful bakery. Great presentation for their French Onion Soup! Our guests loved the soup and the pastries. This bakery was a great find!

Love this bakery. However, huge disappointment are the Pistachio croissants. Instead of injecting the paste into the croissant they are inexplicably slicing it, spreading the paste onto the interior. Besides too much paste, altering the perfect balance they achieved before, this totally compromises the structure of what started out as an amazing croissant. Splitting it tears the layers, flakes of the pastry are loosened and fall off. Then spreading the thick paste further compresses the interior. We used to go a couple times a week to buy the pistachio croissants and more (of course) but now we hardly go in as that was our favorite item. We were buying them at the farmers market location before the Del Mar location opened. I can't imagine the time saved by this new destructive procedure offsets lost sales. Please please reconsider!!!!Thank you.

Stumbled across this place while at the farmers market today. Super impressed! We bought 3 times in one hour LOL! Initially just savory, then back for dessert pastries, and then again for more pastries for tomorrow morning, they were so good! Also Ethan helped us out and was super friendly and good with the recommendations! We will be back!!!

This place had the best tarts, hands down. I have a sweet tooth and everywhere I go, I look for that quaint bakery. In San Clemente, this was the place. We went there later in the afternoon, and we dug into the apple and peach tarts, eclairs, mille feuille and croissants, along with coffee. The pastries were delectable and full of flavor. The tarts had the perfect crust and the filling was perfectly sweet. It didn't break or fell off and was ideal with the cappuccino. I packed a few pastries to go also. Definitely a place to visit if you are in the area.

You won't be disappointed and you will be back. This place is a staple. Welcome to France baby! Quiche is the best you will find in these American States.

Chaupain Bakery's raspberry croissant is an absolute gem! Picture this: a flaky, buttery pastry embracing a burst of sweet raspberry goodness. That's exactly what you get here - a delightful combo that's pure bliss for your taste buds.Walking into Chaupain Bakery, I was greeted by the irresistible aroma of fresh pastries. But let me tell you, their raspberry croissant stole the spotlight. Each bite was a perfect blend of crispy layers and soft, raspberry-filled indulgence. The sweet-tart balance was just divine! What's great is that it's not just the pastry that's amazing - the bakery's vibe and friendly staff added to the whole experience. If you're into extraordinary pastries, trust me, this raspberry croissant from Chaupain Bakery is a must-try. It's the kind of treat that'll have you coming back for more, guaranteed!

This local San Clemente business is a gem. I stopped in to order a quiche as well as some danishes for Christmas Eve. The employees were so helpful in their suggestions! The people were truly kind and patient and amazing. I ordered one piece ofmushroom and leek quiche to try it and it was truly delicious. The staff was even incredibly nice about the likelihood that I would change my order over the next two days as I find out what my Christmas guests can or can’t eat (lol)!Another customer bought a baguette and told me that it was the best! She said she pairs it with Chaupain’s feta dip to take to holiday parties. The atmosphere is cute and small, but it has big results.
