This is a world class bakery, hidden in a humble store front. It has many items every bit as good or better than Bakery Neauveau in Seattle that's been named best bakery in America and won International first place.It's almost unbelievable. San Clemente has another French bakery/bistro named Moulin. I loved this little place. The gentleman that helped us out was very attentive. I had the raspberry cream cheese Danish. The absolute best Danish I have ever had. The atmosphere was great accompanied with great conversation.

We stopped by Chaupain for a late lunch and were pleasantly surprised with the menu selection. We ordered the quiche and croque madame. On of my typical gripes about quiche is it's never consistently baked. Either too dry or soggy. The quiche at Chaupain was anything but that. Nice and firm, but not overly cooked, the quiche was amazing! It paired beautifully with the tomato soup. So much flavor and we enjoyed every bite!
