I don't leave reviews ever. I had to for this place. It looked like your normal Southern California Mexican restaurant that we've all grown accustomed to. The place was clean and I didn't get sick. That is a plus. The waitress didn't speak or understand English. However, the food was absolutely disgusting. It took two days solid to get the taste of their chips and salsa to go away. If you've ever eaten in Mexico, you know there is a vast difference between the Mexican food here in California and Mexico. And that's what this food was. It's food that people in Mexico are accustomed to. I asked if the beef was carne asada, and she said yes. The beef was all that precooked Brazilian shredded beef junk. Salsa was sweet and made with the canned stewed tomatoes and funky seasonings. The chips were not fresh made tortilla chips. They were bagged chips from Mexico, tasted nasty and were orange in color. The cheese in the quesadilla was that processed stuff. The iced tea was nasty and the soda tasted strange and was flat. If you're looking for that trademark delicious SoCal Mexican food, this place is not it. I will never eat there again.

They should do deliveries
Went here because it looked like a chill spot. Totally impressed. The food was delicious and the family and staff here are so nice like literally the most welcoming and happy people around. For reals. Definitely recommend and will be back for another Cubano for sure.

First time here. Won't be the last. This place is a gem. I'm a vegetarian so it can be hit and miss with Mexican food for me. But this place has the best tasting tostada I ever had! With cooked mushroom, potatoes, onions...and their pico de gallo is delicious! Genuine authentic Mexican food. Staff is extremely nice and attentive. If I close my eyes, almost feels like I'm in Mexico!! 10 out of 10. Would recommend to anyone. Boyfriends tacos were amazing as well, if you like meat ?

Great local Mexican restaurant!!! Love the fish and chips ?.. comes with fries , coleslaw and tarter sauce , limón.. Great place to sit and eat , beer on tap and the micheladas are good.. Also love the chicken torta ( shredded chicken ) ?.. All in all nothing but good things to say about El Jefe .. 5 star on my book .. Only thing that I would change would be playing some Mexican music at a reasonable volume to hype up the place .. just a suggestion ?

Very rude! Wasn’t even parked in the parking lot and was going somewhere else, just happened to walk through it, some cook comes out from there yelling…I mean yelling at my husband and I that we can’t park there unless we were going there. We explained that we aren’t even parked in this parking lot he was talking about, and he was still yelling at us. Thought about maybe trying it out sometime but definitely won’t now.

We ordered two breakfast burritos. They were good and I've had better. The price was right and the service was fast.

One great family owned business. Got the chance to meet and talk to the family. Welcomed us Ohio Buckeye with a smile. Nothing fancy, doesn't need to be, very clean and great service. Fun place to take your family. Give it a try if you are in the area.

I had been going to El Jefe for decades but recently had a horrible experience and will not be returning. I have ordered chile verde burritos for years but my last visit I was served pork and squash burrito with canned tomatillo sauce. If the concoction were good then I would just enjoy it but it wasn’t.. When I complained the waitress decided to argue with me and my wife instead of correcting the order. Having ordered the burrito for years I was extremely disappointed and upset with our experience. Should have taken a picture so I could post here, oh well. If you dare to dine here, beware.

The times that my dad and I go, they serve us very well, they are very nice people and they try to serve the dishes quickly as much as possible, they are attentive to the customers. The restaurant has a nice Mexican appearance, the food is very delicious.I forgot to mention that the staff speaks Spanish and English, so there is no problem, they are very accessible, thank you very much. ?
