La Siesta Mexican Restaurant

Updated 8.13.22. Since they stopped serving outside the quality seemed to decline. Drinks were bad and tamales are not the same at all. Not sure what is wrong with their margaritas but they taste like soap. See other reviews. Feel bad that the fire shut them down for a bit. Hopefully they get a fresh re-start.Old review. Great food! Everyone there is always very happy and helpful.

It's okay. Always crowded, so others clearly like it... but all of the food is very bland - not much flavor.Ranch Market (in the back of the grocery store next door) is WAY better (and cheaper).There's no way this is the best Mexican option in San Clemente.

This past july 4th week we ate here again and brought the fam; just saw the devastating news-- this place is a gem and I hope they are able to re-build, thoughts out to this fantastic restaurant. See new pics. My dad is hard to please and really liked it. We all did, delicious. 5ys ago, We driving by and this place seemed cute. What a surprise. We got the best salsa and chips when were sat down. I wish I could get the recipe because my hubby liked it a lot. Then we ordered a small guacamole-- why :) it was so good ! Recommend the large. We had chiliquile plate and Spanish omelette. Both were good. One drawback, the doors were open. Service was friendly. We had the chocolate mole cake-- yum, it was served like a lava cake warm with ice cream, two churros and whipped cream.

I really enjoy La Siesta! Food is authentic Mex, very good, Nice lil bar, pleasent wait staff and usually good people surround. This is a popular place on weekend eves, so either go early or be patient during wait. Summer season adds to that. Limited parking when busy. Give it a try!

La Siesta has been my family’s favorite Mexican restaurant since I was a kid. Their salsa is the absolute best in the world. All their food is fantastic. They have catered parties for us, both large and small, and always impress. I highly recommend La Siesta to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food at a reasonable price.

Not sure how it ranks with other Mexican restaurants in the area, but the food is average. Flavors are on the bland side, but the ingredients are fresh. Service is friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is louder. Happy Hour might be something to check out.

Old fashioned, viejo cantina, family owned & operated. Reasonable prices, popular margaritas & beer. One of our favorite pico de gallo salsas. Staff has worked there for years know their stuff. It has been remodeled fewer booths more tables. There can be a quick moving wait to get seated.

Was busy...but excellent service and food! You know you're going to have a delicious dinner when they bring you authentic chips and delicious salsa on the house to start! Best crispy fish tacos and shrimp n crab Chile rellenos! For dessert, loved the banana Rama! Oh and 1 of the best la Paloma cocktail. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant! Always delicious with generous portions. The enchiladas are actually full of meat and I recommend topping at least one with their yummy mole. I also tried the chili cucumber margarita last night and I will be back for more. Thank you to the friendly staff for taking good care of us and our littles on a busy night!

We recently visited La Siesta and we’re very impressed with everything. The service, the food and of course the Margaritas were perfect! This is now our go to for Mexican food in SC’

All of our dishes were great. Chips were good, Chile Colorado was good, tacos were good. All of it.

Some of the best Mexican food around. Literally my favorite place. They always get my order just right. Also, shout out to the manager Andy..not sure if that's how spell his name but his customer service is EXPEPTIONAL. I'm a regular that will definetly keep coming back. ☺️

Probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in San Clemente. Always a great dining experience. Kind of miss the old design, but the remodel is well done. Parking is not ideal especially on busy nights. Besides that, La Siesta is a great place and a can’t miss for locals and tourists alike.

Good food but a little too much salt.

Fish burrito Ala Carte is soooo BOMB !!! To go order ……Make sure to ask 4 the tasty homemade chips and salsa and also for a side order of the secret spicy hot sauce in the back kitchen……….this fish and these flavors are seriously going 2 melt in your mouth like a sea candy from King Neptune lol ?
