This place is completely underrated. I haven’t even eaten here recently. I’m just thinking about it and remembering how amazing it is. Everybody nearby. Should give it a chance. Try their pizza try their chopped salad. You will not regret it. I cannot overstate how incredible the food environment and staff are here. I will come back very soon.
Sonny if you see this thank you for everything
Excellent food. 4 of us shared the gnocchi, rigatoni, and lasagna lunch plates, which was plenty of food. Best Italian I've had
This place is genuinely so so good!!! If you’re looking for an amazing Italian food place during vacation this is it! I went on vacation last week and for the past 2 years they have given amazing food, and service. I love this place!
So I owed this place a good review. We’ve been here twice with our kids - 2 and 3 years old. They are not easy to deal with and I appreciate the staff for that. The food has been so good I keep wanting to try to things so I apologize - we will probably be back. The outdoor seating is so nice with flowers everywhere even our kids are looking up to enjoy the atmosphere. I’m very sorry if we’re difficult but we don’t go out much lately - we appreciate your restaurant and staff so much for being accommodating and lovely.
Grabbed a couple pies to go. Hot and fresh when we got home. Such good pizza! One of our favorite pizza places.
Love the crispy crust and super garlic on everything! Service is always great, a neighborhood favorite!!
Been coming to Sonny’s for a long time and have only ever had positive experiences, but yesterday was a bit odd. First off we read online that their patio is dog friendly, but only service dogs are allowed (not Sonny’s fault for incorrect internet info, I only mention so folks with doggos aren’t surprised). No worries, we love Sonny’s so to go is all good, as we’re not in the area often. The server who took our order seemed annoyed when I “waited to be seated” outside and that I didn’t hear her at the inside counter, as I am hard of hearing and a speaker was blaring into my ears, and it was dark inside. No worries again. I specifically chose the eggplant parmigiana, because it came with a pasta side, and my husband ordered the meatball sandwich. They said it would be a 10-15 minute wait and that they would bring us the food, as we were waiting on a bench out front with our dog. I don’t like to rush food service folks (being that I once was one myself), but there were only 3 customers inside and we had been waiting over 30 minutes with no sign of food. I decided to politely check in and the same person who took the order seemed frazzled and started to sort through tickets and talk to the kitchen, while another very polite and seemingly more experienced server found that our order had accidentally been placed in a delivery bag. All good, that happens. We get to a park to eat on a picnic table only to find that my pasta was not in the box—bummer. It was $38 with tip and my husband’s sandwich included only two meatballs. Bummer again. I can’t give Sonny’s less than four stars, but this just wasn’t worth the time and effort. We were patient and nice, even after the confusion, but finding that we didn’t get all of the food at the end was a huge let down.
It’s a long story, but we’ve had a hard year financially and we can only dine out for special occasions. I suppose that’s why I wrote this review, because you never know when someone is splurging more than they probably should, for the sake of enjoying a special moment, with special food. Thankfully we don’t need special food to have a special moment (as my husband and dog are the most special beings in my life), but it would have been a nice cherry on top if the food had matched the energy of the moment. I don’t think we’ll prioritize this spot anymore and we’ll definitely only dine in the next time we do eat Sonny’s.
Great food & service. Pizza , pasta and salad were all delicious.
Always have had a great experience here, and I have going here for over 40 years!!!

I've been coming here since it opened. Garlic bread, pizza with sausage and Canadian bacon, and a pitcher of Peroni are my favorite after surfing SanO.
Parking: You can usually find parking but worst case less than a block away.

Absolutely delicious. The pizza is so good, the sauce is tangy and flavorful. My go to is the seafood linguini with both red and white sauce, freakin amazing.

I’m surprised it’s taken me this long to tell you how much I love this establishment. I usually bring my favorite customer here for lunch. And they initially recommended Sonny’s to me and thank God that they did. The food is the real thing! I put there food up there with the best “old school” Italian I’ve ever had. And the pizza is absolutely killer, with great sauce, cheese and crispy awesome crust.
This is my Dad's very fav place to eat that is in San Clemente, every time I visit him at my hometown of S.C. he takes me to have dinner.
I always stick with my very favorite chicken Parm. With pasta but I request the white Alfredo sauce instead of the red sauce ,depending on my mood
So delicious
The restaurant is always packed.
It's a restaurant most locals truly consider a jewel of our beloved beach town.
