This was our first time here and we were delighted with everything from the service to the delicious food! We sat on the patio which has about 8 tables or so. We went in during happy hour which runs from 5pm to 7pm . The food on the happy hour menu is really affordable! $11 for a plate of sushi, we tried a plate of salmon and avocado rolls and a plate of spicy tuna rolls. Both delicious and also came with a side of wasabi and some fresh pickled ginger and soy sauce was also available. We had to ask for more ginger because we liked it so much which was promptly brought to us. Also had a glass each of Pinot noir which complemented the meal perfectly! The service was great! Promptly greeted and sat, the server arrived shortly thereafter. A wonderful experience, we will be back!

New-ish place with phenomenal food, attentive, gracious service, and a fun fusion atmosphere. I recommend a lot of the family-style sides, with a preference for the broccolini and brussel sprouts.

Disappointing food experience at AKA. It was our first time trying and while the service was attentive, the food was terrible for the price and taste. We ordered the fatty tuna sashimi, salmon sashimi, and the Dan Dan noodles. The noodles were overcooked and sticking together. They were a bland representation of spice, nuttiness and flavor. The fatty tuna had a strong fishy smell and it was cut poorly. The fatty tuna was cut with the grain and had the connective tissue present throughout, which resulted into a stringy and mushy texture. The salmon sashimi had miware, broken flesh present. I would suggest going somewhere else for dinner, it is heavily not worth coming here.

From the moment we walked into AKA, we were met with warm hospitality and a vibrant yet intimate atmosphere. The entire staff was genuinely welcoming and attentive, setting the tone for what would become an unforgettable evening.
The filet mignon was nothing short of phenomenal—cooked to absolute perfection, tender, and bursting with flavor. The accompanying vegetables were expertly charred, adding a delightful smoky depth, and the mashed potatoes had an incredible texture—silky yet rich with just the right amount of seasoning.
The bartender was a true artist, crafting some of the most innovative and delicious drink combinations I’ve ever experienced. Each cocktail was balanced, refreshing, and perfectly paired with the meal.
What truly elevated the evening was the thoughtfulness of the kitchen director. They not only delivered a masterfully prepared meal but also took the time to personally come out and wish my wife a happy birthday, making the night even more special.
If you’re looking for impeccable service, a welcoming ambiance, and world-class cuisine, AKA is an absolute must in San Diego. We can’t wait to return!

From the moment we walked in, the vibe was spot on, modern, welcoming, and full of energy. Our waitress, Emily, was fantastic, super friendly and helpful with recommendations that did not disappoint. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and beautifully presented.
You can tell the kitchen takes pride in their work, and the service just elevated the whole night. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great meal and atmosphere in downtown San Diego. We’ll definitely be back!

Great atmosphere with the DJ but the food is mid. The truffle roll had ZERO truffle flavor. Pad Thai was too sweet. Drinks took surprisingly longer than expected. Overall, I wasn’t impressed and would probably not come back.

Amazing dinner! The dishes are flavorful and unique! I had the scallion appetizer and it was the best. Savory and a little bit sweet with an amazing crunch. I will come back next time I am in town. The bartender Teagan was also very kind and guided my meal well. I appreciate her hospitality as another service industry professional.
