When I lived in Hillcrest this was the place I came to when I wanted great Mediterranean food. The people are friendly, the food is divine and the atmosphere is wonderful. I miss it so much after moving away from SD.

Just not the same as it was years ago. Now it is just a place for food. Not the welcoming atmosphere anymore.

Well, there was no lamp to rub, but Aladdin still made wishes come true . The chicken salad was delicious. So fresh. BUT Get the Borak cheese bread. The inside of the restaurant is clean but feels scattered. The waitress was so friendly. But I still wanted to see a genie in a bottle. It's good, go, eat, rub a genie bottle of wine. Worth the visit.

Always good food in a Middle Eastern atmosphere. We have been going there for over 15 years.

I ordered a lentil soup that was about it and I just got a stare when I came in to purchase it to go.
It was the only thing I had to eat as a quick late lunch I couldn’t stop throwing up it tasted old and very can type not fresh or homemade . I’m glad I didn’t finish it I only had a few tries :(
They dropped the ball I am disgusted and didn’t bother letting them know it isn’t worth the confrontation in which they seem to give off.
I prefer the other location !

Restaurantji Recommends
We stopped by this location but I was honestly disappointed with food! The Shawarma wasn’t good at all the only dish I’d recommend trying is fried and chicken biryani. For the prices you pay this is not a place I’ll recommend

The portions were much smaller, and the food quality was not what we expected. Do yourself a favor and drive 10 minutes over to Clairemont location instead.

Let me start off by saying I grew up eating Lebanese food and I am very familiar with it.
The food was ok. The dolma (grape leaves) were terrible and I could barely get through one bite. The falafel was ok, but was very heavy and tasted greasy. I ordered lamb and I received very small lamb chops that were not super flavorful. The fries that came with the meal were the best item but needed some salt. The hummus was not good and needed lemon.
I was the only person in the restaurant. I went at around 6-7pm which is peak dinner time for restaurants. You can see in the video the restaurant was completely empty. There is no reason why I should have had such a sub par experience when I was the only guest in the restaurant. When I told my server, Abraham, about my dissatisfaction with the food he got defensive. Instead of wanting to give me a better experience, he told me that he knew the food was good; which insinuated that the problem was me not the restaurant. I spent about $63 after tip on two items. This was an over priced experienced for the quality of service you receive. The food portions are generous, but it does not match the taste value of the food.
This restaurant did not give me the experience I was hoping to have. I did not receive the same service others received and the server took his time before acknowledging me at all. The partiality was off-putting as a black African-American and came across as racist.
I do not recommend eating at this establishment.

Did a call ahead order thinking it was the Clairemont location; but soon found out I actually ordered it to this location at Hillcrest. The order took about an hour from ordering thru Grubhub and to pick up the purchase. Originally it was 12-20min for prep time.
No harm no foul; i walked around the plaza there.
The shawarma(s) I ordered were superb! Worth the wait and different location originally. The shawarmas were juicy, the lamb was fresh, the share a was worth the price.
Parking: Caution parking; as parking is for plaza customers only.

The food. The service. The staff. Wonderful!! We have been here a few times, and it never disappoints. The food is second to none. Great outdoor space, large indoor space. Definitely be back.
