We have been coming here for the last couple of years and never been disappointed. Always quality food and service. Nice quiet atmosphere and layout. Ask for Angle and tell him the Cobb Salad with Salmon sent you.

Although it's American style, the food was delicious. The portion was too much for a Japanese person and I couldn't finish it all. The staff was very kind and the place was clean.

It's not often that I dine in a restaurant that is part of a hotel but Arterra has a hidden gem when it comes to their small sushi bar run by Chef Andrew who opened the sushi concept 24 years ago. For the 2nd consecutive night ( yes - 2 straight nights, I dined here and had some fantastic nigiri and sushi as well as the braised short rib tacos. They have a limited sushi menu with no hot Japanese entrees such as bento or hot appetizers or main entrees. However, if you have your favorites from what you are accustomed to Chef Andrew can mostly make them as was the case when I wanted a Dragon Roll which was not on the menu. tfw Sushi Bar opens at 5 pm with Happy Hour for the general bar area opening at 4 pm. Service by the entire staff with Tom and Brian as well as Manager Ricardo (Ricki) were spot on. I should also mention that I met other guests who are regulars to Arterra along with another who also came for two consecutive nights to enjoy Chef Andrew's sushi creations!

Service was awesome. Shout out to our waiter, Chris! We came on a Friday night when they had live music by Tolan Shaw (which was the reason we came). We were there to celebrate a birthday, and the staff did a great job making him feel special. I loved the Marco Polo sushi roll. Wish they have more mocktail options. I'm surprised this place wasn't busier. Prices are a little premium, but I'd come back again.

We try this place during our stay in the hotel. To be honest, it truly exceed my expectations! The sashimi is super fresh and all the main dishes are delicious! Our waiter is also very helpful and nice. Happy new year everybody!

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a staycation in the Del Mar area. We came across the Marriot in Del Mar which was a prime location since it was in proximity of other shopping, dining, and beach areas. We became hungry one evening and didn't feel like driving anywhere, and ended up eating at the Arterra located in the lobby of the Marriot. Upon our arrival we were greeted by our very cordial host, Chris, who was very welcoming and provided plenty seating options depending on our mood for the evening. Chris provided us a very pleasant table for my wife and I. There was upbeat vibe since there was a live musician during our visit. There were plenty of food options on the menu. Our compliments to chef, Ron, who was able to cook up some delectable dishes including: the duck; cheese board; and pear salad. My wife and I shared most of the food and cleared our plates entirely. The drinks were very invigorating as well. Overall we had a pleasant experience and will definitely eat at the Arterra the next time we're in town.

This is a gem hidden inside the Marriott hotel.   We began a birthday celebration with a Del Mar Spritz (aperol, elderflower, sparkling wine) and a most delicious filtered sake (Junmai Ginjo).  Crunchy, yet fluffy,  yucca fries were a perfect bite with chimichurri and spicy mayo.  However,  the star was the fish.  The Hamachi sashimi was the perfect balance of texture, while the spicy yellowtail sushi was very tasty with avocado and just the right hint of spice.   We continued with another round of 'ring of fire' sushi which was yellowtail elevated and seriously spicy, absolutely delicious.  And finally the California roll with real blue crabmeat was simply phenomenal.   Everything seemed a perfect blend of freshness,  just the right spice and elegant presentation.  This would have been a 5 star review if the atmosphere was a bit more cozy.

It is such a great experience having lunch here as it is seldom crowded and we can really talk and catch up. Also fun to celebrated a birthday as the complimentary dessert is always fabulous!

Not what I would consider a great sushi spot, there was one chef on a Saturday night who could not prepare what was offered on the main menu. Service was poor. I would not recommend nor ever go back.

We really liked this place while we stayed in a hotel nearby. The sushi is freshly made and really good. The staff is very friendly too!

We ended up staying at the Marriott Del Mar with a few other families for our daughter's soccer tournament. Instead of trying to coordinate dinner elsewhere, we figured a nice dinner at the hotel would be nice... in comes Arterra. First off, their staff is absolutely world class! We wanted to have a dinner in a poolside cabana to allow the kids to swim and the manager, Brian, was super accommodating and walked us through making the reservation. We ended up with more families than expected and they quickly made room for us. For the evening, we were assigned Chris as our server and he was as patient as it gets and extremely attentive. The chips and guacamole were freshly made and super tasty. Their burger was pricey but used high quality meat and soft brioche bun and accompanied by fantastic fries. Our kids ate an extra order of fries, they were so good! The presentation of the butternut squash ravioli was exquisite and had great flavor! We overstayed our welcome and the team was took great care of us, even with splitting the bills between multiple families. We truly enjoyed our experience so much that we returned for breakfast! For breakfast, we had Juan and Yesi as our servers and they were as equally awesome as Chris. No lie, the servers are fantastic! The pancakes were some of the best we've had! Highly recommended! Thanks Brian, Chris, Juan and Yesi for a spectacular experience at Arterra. This will be our go to hotel for tournaments and can't wait to return to Arterra for all meals!!

I was here on a work trip and ate while I was here. I ordered the Del Mar Spritz and loved it. It was refreshing and citrusy. I ordered the iceberg wedge salad with a side of grilled chicken (I forgot to take a picture of the chicken). The salad was great but the chicken was lukewarm, it tasted good but it wasn’t hot. Other than that, the service was great and atmosphere was nice too.
