The Bar had ok music (ok this is of course a personal opinion)
However, the bouncer was unfriendly a bit aggressiv and seemed to be a bit incompetent.

Nice dive but advertised karaoke On Wednesdays @ 9 and no such activities were happening.

If you’re in Mission Beach and you want to experience a dive bar the way it’s meant to be—raw, real, and unapologetically local—look no further than Beachcomber.

The bartenders? They’re legends. Friendly, quick with a drink, and always ready with a story or a laugh. It’s the kind of spot where you might walk in as a stranger, but by the end of the night, you’ll feel like a regular. The beer is cold, the drinks are strong, and the prices are just right—nothing fancy, just quality.

And if you’re a Guinness fan, they pour one of the best pints you’ll find anywhere. I’m talking that perfect pour, with the right amount of head, served at the perfect temperature, and it’s always consistent. You know the kind that just hits different? That’s the Beachcomber’s Guinness.

The crowd is an eclectic mix of locals and wanderers, and the atmosphere feels like a perfect blend of easygoing California beach vibes and old-school dive bar charm. Whether you’re here to play some pool or just sit at the bar and watch the world go by, this is a spot where everyone can kick back and enjoy themselves.

Also, the Beachcomber has that intangible thing—soul. It’s not trying to be anything it’s not. It’s not about pretentious cocktails or trendy décor. It’s about good times, cold drinks, and a place that feels like home. So, if you want to skip the crowded, overpriced spots down the street and enjoy a real slice of Mission Beach history, this is your place. Can’t recommend it enough. Just don’t forget to tip the bartenders—they’re the heart and soul of this place.

Your average but fun and social dive in Mission Beach. Alex was great pouring drinks all night on football night. Inexpensive drinks. Wish there was music playing, though. Regardless, a cool little spot to grab a drink.

I used to peruse The Beachcomber many many years ago in an association with OMBAC and a friend of mine that no longer lives in this area knew I was going. So I bought him a really nice t-shirt and sent it to him as this was his old stomping grounds. It is a rare bar these days with a lot of very fun atmosphere and very good people in attendance. A lot of fun, a lot of just enjoying a older Time bar and one of the few remaining that are open till 2:00 in the morning! They are a real, really fun experience.

I love the beachcomber. Best bingo nights and dueling pianos around. The drinks are cheap and there’s always a good vibe. A little divey but it’s part of the charm. Also pool tables ?
