Every time my wife said she wanted KFC in the past, I would only think of the American chain, but now I can only think of Korean Fried Chicken, because it's superior in every way, if done correctly.

This small restaurant is located in a small shopping center near the planet fitness gym off Mira Mesa Blvd and the 805, all the way in the corner. It's located next to the barely alive food court and there is plenty of parking.

It's pretty casual and you can order take out, but you can also dine and they will take your order and minimally wait on you.

We tried the tenders and two of the popular boneless wing flavors. The tenders were spicy, juicy, crispy and tender! The first order of boneless wings was soggy and the second order was a mix of crispy and soggy. Flavor wise, I'd say the sauces were just ok, not awe inspiring or bold in any way.

The chicken sandwiches were huge! The bread had a cheese crust and was a little crispy at the corners. The bread is way too dense though and the chicken was soggy even though we ate them immediately in the restaurant.

As far as value is concerned, this place is expensive at a little over $2 per wing. The chicken sandwich is pretty big for $10 but it could be done better.

If we're desperate for KFC after a workout at the gym, we may consider coming back, but there are better spots a few miles away on Convoy.

I'm surprise it is still open as it was the most disappointing fried chicken I have had in San Diego. I would not recommend or return.

After trying all the Korean fried chicken in San Diego, this is one of the best. The size of the chicken is huge! Very flavorful with lots of meat for a great price.
The service here is also very good. Staff is attentive and friendly to customers.

Will definitely visit again!

Friendly and clean, but my chicken sandwich was unusually oily, a little pink, possibly undercooked. Good size, but just too heavy and cold.

BHC offers both quick to-go services like a fast food spot and table service for a more relaxed dine-in experience. We tried the drumsticks, opting for the classic and Gold King flavors. The classic drumsticks were perfectly crispy, especially with the dipping sauce, while the Gold King drumsticks were juicy, covered in a delicious blend of honey and garlic. Both options were absolutely worth it!

We also ordered the kimchi fried rice and the cheese ball. While I enjoyed the cheese ball, I preferred the cheese twist as its sweetness and creaminess were more satisfying.

The signature chicken burger was a standout—featuring a large, juicy chicken breast that hit the spot. The classic sandwich was a bit of a letdown compared to the rest of the menu. The bread wasn’t as crispy as I expected, and the chicken pieces were small chunks of fried thigh meat—not as satisfying as the burger.

They play sports games on TV at night, which adds to the lively atmosphere. Overall, it's a great place for a fried chicken fix.

Worst Korean fried chicken I have tried in San Diego. Many people I know would say it is mid or meh. Personally I did not like it. If you ignore many of the reviews written by “local guide” it seems others may agree as well.

The original chicken batter has a bit of a strange taste. Kinda sweet, kinda flavorless. I think the thickness seems off and the breading is not very crispy.

The chicken itself also did not seem juicy. It seems slightly tough and dry.

The sauces were mostly meh. I would strongly recommend avoiding the bburing sauce.

Disappointed!

It bothers me that there’s already some bad reviews as even if you’re disappointed, in my personal opinion, this place is definitely not deserving of a 1-star review. My fiancé and I are from out of town and being as it was our first time here, the staff were so attentive, nice, and welcoming. The establishment screams authentic KFC! The food was great - I especially liked the rosé tteokbokki. We also got the Matcho chicken and if you’re a garlic fan, this one is SO garlicky and so good. The two young staff members who waited on us were the perfect amount of attentive and patient. They allowed us to enjoy our food while knowing when to ask if we’d like our drinks refilled, needed wet wipes, or anything else. Overall, a great experience. Take it from someone who doesn’t normally write reviews, this is a great place and it deserves more positivity and support.

Edit: I will correct myself. They did not overcharge, however they did incorrectly charge both cards. It’s extremely frustrating to be incorrectly charged on both cards when both receipts had the amount written clearly on it.

They overcharged and hoped to get away with it!

I was here with friends on 9/3. We decided to split checks and i asked for my card to be charged $30 and the rest on a separate card. On my $30 card, i put no tip and flat $30. On the 2nd card, we calculated 20% of the entire total. Looking at our statement charges now, they decided to add tip on their own to BOTH cards.
Total meal cost $42.98
Card#1 charged: $38.60
Card#2 charged: $16.31
This leaves $11.93 as tip, almost a 28% tip.
A 20% tip should only be $8.58 tip.

The first time we came the wait was wayyyy too long but it was opening weekend. We came recently and the wait was like 5 minutes and the chicken and seasoning is still excellent! All of us agreed it tastes the same as Korea when we went two weeks ago. Technically, the chicken itself is different than Korea but that's an American supply chain vs Korea supply chain thing I think. Everyone here was super nice and the ahjuma owner even gave our large table with free tteokbokki!

Our favorite is bburrinkle!

First time here, not last. Been to a lot of Korean fried chicken around San Diego as a lot of shops have popped out, and this is right towards the top. I tried the Red King sauce, their (I believe) spiciest. Very good, lots of peppers and good flavor - it’s not my number one sauce from various places around town but it’s definitely very tasty. What really sets them apart is the chicken itself though. Their chicken was legitimately the best fried chicken I’ve had. Very crispy but the batter was light and airy. Tons of flavor, went with the sauce perfectly. Highly recommend and will be back; the fried cheese looks very good and I didn’t have a chance to try it.
