The drinks here are definitely my favorite! I tried the braised pork and it was pretty good, but I’m already planning to come back to try more dishes. I keep hearing the sandwiches are the real stars here, so that’s next on my list!

Legit Taiwanese shop with probably the best matcha flavored drinks in San Diego (not best pure matcha though). Haven't tried any of the dishes yet.

Tried:
Matcha Jin Xuan Oolong
Iced - Regular
75% Sweetness

The Oolong tea flavor was stronger than the Matcha but the drink was good.

BA-LA Matcha
Iced - Regular
25% Sweetness

A fruity twist to the classic matcha taste. The guava flavor definitely predominates, so keep that in mind.

Popcorn Chicken
Thigh (Dark meat)

I really enjoyed that Chicken especially with the dipping sauce.

New and cheerful, happy customers and easygoing vibe. Paper straws, so prepare for a soggy drink experience. Often full of customers, but the line is short to nonexistent. There are no sunshades, so expect to squint when the sun sets.

A little bit pricey, but because you can taste and see the higher quality.

We came for their anniversary event where they had a special of free Jin xuan milk tea if you order the nori fish tacos and mofo asada fries.

The Jin xuan milk tea was okay. Nothing special.

The nori fish tacos though were so delicious! just wish they were a little bit bigger. Crispy fried fish and crunchy slaw.

The mofo asada fries were also delicious with crispy fries and tender steak pieces. Also wish this was a little bigger.

Parking is easy in large free parking lot. Service is friendly.

This review is based in a delivered order. Will try to visit in person to see if the delivery changes thee quality of the food.
Drink: ordered the strawberry corn milk with 25% sweet and boba. Barely taste the corn part in the drink. 3/5 for boba
Food: ordered spicy popcorn chicken. Look spicy but not spicy. Maybe offer additional spice? I thought popcorn chicken is supposed to be crunchy but my chicken was soggy. Maybe it due to delivery but I have tried others' popcorn chicken that still crunchy after 1 hour drive.

They have less seating than they used to, it gets warm easily, and they don't have outlets but they do have wifi. Great for hanging out. great drinks, good but expensive food, and they keep their bathrooms nice. Wouldn't spend more than an hour or two in here unless you like sitting outside or in the sun.

Great drinks, a bit on the sweet side, quality hojicha, and right next door to a bakery and a ramen place. Would come here after ramen to extend a hangout

I finally had a chance to visit this cafe. It’s clean and spacious (but not many tables for dining in). There are few tables outside though.

We ordered a Taiwanese chicken sandwich, pork belly rice bowl and a bubble tea. The chicken sandwich got good flavors but the bun was a bit too sweet for my taste. The pork belly rice bowl was delicious. I liked Jin Xuan Oolong milk tea because it’s got natural tea taste.

Been here a handful of times. This place is cashless. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Out of all the food and drinks I’ve tried, I haven’t found anything that I didn’t enjoy.
My kid does enjoy the bopo bento with dark meat popcorn chicken.

I’ve been seriously obsessed with this place lately, it’s my go-to spot to fix my matcha cravings. Here’s my lineup of faves:
1. Ba-La Matcha (25% sweetness) – Matcha mixed with guava juice? So refreshing and not too sweet. A must-try!
2. Hojicha Latte (50% sweetness) – Rich, roasty, and super comforting.
3. Mint Matcha – I stick with their default sweetness. The mint gives it that cool, refreshing kick!
4. Blueberry Matcha (25% sweetness) – Just the right balance of fruity and earthy.
5. Original Matcha Latte (50% sweetness) – Can’t go wrong with the classic.

I always get oat milk in all of them, and the best part? No extra charge for the oat milk! 🙌

Tried the popcorn chicken too… honestly, it was kinda mid for the price. I’d stick with the drinks!

Bonus points for the super friendly customer service :) they always make the experience feel extra welcoming. 💚

Boba fans have a lot of choices these days, but Bopomofo Cafe is worth a visit if you're a fan of either bubble tea, Asian snacks, or just want a quick & satisfying bite to eat. Mapo tofu tatertots were a hit, but so were the Hainan chicken tacos and the chicken salad. Popcorn chicken can be ordered as classic or spicy, with white and dark meat choices.

Blueberry matcha latte & popcorn chicken are both amazing!
However, the boba add-on I got was too soft and not firm enough.
I also think their chicken sandwiches are really expensive - would love to try them if they weren’t $14-16 for sandwich only.

Bopomofo is an amazing boba + snacks shop!! I tell everyone who visits socal to treat themselves here. My favorite boba shop of all time!

If only they were in the bay area, but alas, it's an extra special treat when I'm down here! ❤️

I always love coming to this place for boba when I'm back home visiting. They are a place I recommend to friends and family in San Diego. It's a great place to hit up when you are in the convoy area, and its a big plus when the owner is a UCSD alumni and a big YouTuber 🔥
