Dinner was decent. I didn’t like at all that did not mention anything about needing to stay for a specific time like in Pandemic and brought us the check without asking for it, the waitress argued there was a big party coming and needed the table. We were not even able to order dessert

I have to say I like the new location that’s on the corner for fourth and J St. you have a beautiful bar setting area. A large dining room and private dining room area.

I had the lunch special include salad and pasta for $14. Also, house bread. Food was phenomenal. The service was amazing.

The staff were very friendly from the minute. You arrive to the minute you leave. If you’re looking for a place to eat that has large portions and family friendly this is the place to be.

It’s located in a heart of a gas lamp District of San Diego two minutes away from the baseball stadium.

I don’t say this lightly: this was one of the best Italian meals I’ve ever had. From the moment we walked into Buca di Beppo, the atmosphere set the tone—warm, inviting, with the faint scent of garlic and fresh basil in the air. It felt like being transported straight to a cozy street-side eatery in Rome. Thank you Jeff for a wonderful meal!

Opened in a new location downtown close to the convention center, Buca is still doing that they do best, family sized portions of red table cloth Italian comfort food.

First thing you’ll notice is how open this location is. Others I’ve visited over the years always had several unusually small dining rooms, I’m looking at you Anaheim. But here the dining room is large including several theme rooms for bigger parties. Seating also is ample with large family sized booths.

Everyone we encountered was friendly and knowledgeable, helping us navigations drinks and dinner. They were out of both IPAs, same thing happened at another location. Not sure what’s up with that, so if you like drinking those, be warned.

There were 4 of us dining in so we were able to share quite a number of dishes. Standouts included their crispy-crunchy Fried Mozzarella appetizers. I mean fried cheese, what’s not to love. Chicken Parmigiana also reflected delicious crunch all smothered in sauce and cheese. Along side we ordered a Buca Big Fettuccini Alfredo, I’m pretty sure this was a couple of pounds of pasta. I’ve been eating leftovers since. All delicious and honestly, I was surprised the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente.

On a side note, if you are only 1-2 guests and sit in the bar, you can order from their lunch menu. This includes smaller versions of their most delicious items. Perfect for a regular weeknight meal.

I’m pretty happy they opened so close to our place downtown. It’s nice to have another pasta forward option in the area. Now they just need to get their IPA game together.
