The food was delicious, and our waiter was friendly, but the service was really slow. We waited a good 10 minutes before we were able to order drinks and another 15-20 minutes waiting for our drinks and being able to order our food. It was Sunday evening, but maybe the restaurant needed a couple more waiters

This was my first time here. Compared to the other restaurants in Old Town. It is very slow. There only two waiters. The closer it got to 1pm. The busier it got. The service is okay. The waiter was very polite, and checked on us often. After the food was served. The ambiance is an old time western Mexican theme. Right next to restaurant, are musicians that play for the plaza. So you get to hear some smooth jazz and Latino music. The food was pretty good. The Molcajete De Maria, is a great option for a first timer. It is filled with a wide selection of the treats. Inside has carne asada, chicken, onions, cheese, cactus, jalapeño, shrimp, and chorizo. My favorite part was the cheese. Two thick cuts of queso fresco. This item is served in a piping hot Molcajete. You must be careful with this. As it can burn you. This is also a dish shared, and shared a little fast. I say this because the dish is hot, and will continue the cooking process. Especially the shrimp. They will overcook them and make them stick to the Molcajete. The smoothies sweet. So if you love sweet drinks. This is up your alley. The Jamaica is not overly sweet. This is a nice drink on a warm day. I would come here again.

Cute place, good atmosphere and service, but that’s about it…Food might as well have been microwaved. To elaborate, the enchilada was unseasoned and dry shredded chicken with an uncooked tortilla covered in enchilada sauce, with slightly melted cheese on top.

Being in the heart of old Town San Diego, this place is touristy and a bit pricey for what you get. They have a beautiful outdoor dining area with live music from the plaza area right next door. The service was decent, the food could use a bit more flavor, we ordered the expensive molcajete dish with shrimp, chicken, carne asada, and chorizo! We expected so much flavor with all the variety of meats but it was all a bit bland. The menu states it's for 2 people and the meats definitely are but the side dishes beans and rice were only enough for one.( Which isn't stated in the menu) I had a basic margarita for $16 and it was basic. But the atmosphere is great and the live music was nice. They don't have a bathroom you have to use the one outside in the little plaza which is disgusting. Do not need to go into detail about it ?

My meal was delicious. Plenty of cheeses, sour cream and guacamole. The chips and salsa were great! Server was friendly and attentive. I was short on time and they served me in a timely manner
Party of 3 on a Saturday afternoon and we were seated very quickly. We enjoyed some shots, margaritas, tacos and a sampler molcajete. Everything was perfect and I'm still thinking about the food. We sat outside and were treated to some live music. Our waiter was never nice, funny and checked on us a few times. This was a great spot and I would eat here again.

So Zen. Beautiful, serene grounds. Very welcoming staff. Wonderful programs offered - there used to be free guided Loving Kindness meditation nights. Just drop in and walk around the grounds to feel revived. Entrance used to be easy before Covid.

We never made it in it was our anniversary we were told we could wait 30 minutes since we had no reservation we agreed but when we came back 30 mins later the hostess at the front had left for the day and the waiter walking around looking lost was surprised we were told that since he said they closed in 30 mins it was 7:30 when we first arrived ended up leaving and going to the Bali hai which never disappoints:)

The food was delicious. We had the molcajete and shared it between 3 people, and had so much left over. And the customer service was great.
