The pictured indoor seating area is access limited. When I went on a chilly afternoon, thinking it would be nice to sit inside, it was unavailable. I felt deceived as I sat outside to eat my very okay turkey sandwich.

Great coffee shop in a quiet residential area but very central in San Diego. The coffee was great and enjoyed the park next door for our kids and dog. Would definitely come back to sit inside and do some work

I had a very nice cortado from this new Communal Coffee located in Banker's Hill. The cortado was smooth and rich and offered a very good coffee flavor. Customer service was friendly and welcoming.

There's inside seating at this location, but I think there's a minimum purchase to sit indoors the lobby of the apartment complex. There's an outside patio with several tables right outside and there's a small community park right next door. They offer some baked goods provided by a local bakery, and toasted bagels with toppings.

Good cortado.

We were given flyers for a free coffee but when we gave them to the staff, we only got a discount. Bit of a deceiving way to get people in. Pastry was good but coffee wasn’t great, nor was the service. Was excited to see this new spot but left disappointed :(

Communal is in the bottom
floor of the Kaya building. It’s very cute, has outside seating and you can
sit inside the Kaya and relax with your purchase for two hours.

Great flavor, lovely atmosphere. I live at a walkable distance and it could easily be one of my new local favorites. However the barista service is ridiculously rude and lack basic manners in regards to customer service. It's been twice now and the same situation has occurred. This is definitely not the attitude for any coffee shop specifically when it's new.

I love the atmosphere here. When you grab a coffee at this location, you also get access to the sitting area next door, which is such a beautiful space to meet with friends or catch up on work. I recently met up with two friends there—we had a great chat over coffee and their salmon toast, which was absolutely phenomenal.

Highly recommend this spot. I’m a bit of a coffee snob, and I can confidently say: this place gets my approval.

I didn’t read the reviews all the way through. Kinda wish I did because I just got to the coffee shop thinking there’s going to be seating inside. Turns out like others, I find out it’s limited and it’s not technically the coffee shop, it’s a lobby to the apartment complex. I wanted to get some work done, but I had to leave because I couldn’t sit side. I wish the management team can fix this so it’s not misleading.

This new coffee shop is a must visit if you're in the area! The staff is very nice and pleasant to interact with.I visited just as they opened at 630am, so I had my pick of seating, but it fills up quickly around 8-9am. The interior design is beautiful and feels spacious and comfortable. There is a variety of drinks but I went for the cronut, one of the best if not the best in San Diego. I highly recommend Communal Coffee and will be back again!

Communal Coffee has always been a go-to coffee shop in San Diego, but this location is pretty bad. The service is great, and the baristas are super friendly. The coffee was honestly terrible, which was super surprising, as the other locations are pretty good. Both my wife's Matcha, and my Cap were absolutely terrible, and they both went in the trash on the way to another coffee shop. The long wait time can be forgiven because they were pretty busy and it's not a big operation. The seating arrangements are not great, and noy clearly defined(see other reviews). I hope they figure it out, as it's not for a lack of good equipment, or quality beans, but for now, it's pretty terrible.
