Really fresh, authentic, Italian food. We tried a variety of dishes offered and all were amazing. Our waitress Nikki was very engaging and knowledgeable of all items offered along with ingredients used. We will be going back!

The food was okay, typical Italian food. The only problem I had was the service here. The workers just seemed very unwelcoming and rushed us to leave but they didn't really do that to anyone else.

Very good, feels like authentic home made no fuss Italian food. Pasta and deserts all homemade. As someone who comes from Michelin star (star not rosette) background, this place has a lot of potential with a few tweaks in terms of attention to detail. For the quality, is very cheap. Neighborhood mostly still mostly military and/or blue collar retirees living in 1960s. However, younger Ivy League/corporate executive blood coming in daily and changing neighborhood, considering houses now aren’t less than $100k but all over $1M now. Would get very different reviews if in Del Mar or La Jolla where clientele are used to this level. As a small family run business, I have to give it 5*

We were visiting from out of town and we were searching for some good Italian food for dinner for my family and found this beautiful place. We had the most amazing Italian food we had in a while. I would really recommend anyone that is looking for some good homemade Italian food to give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed.

This is where to go to have an incredible, authentic, no-frills Italian meal. We were headed from Del Mar to Chula Vista in rush hour and decided to get out of traffic and find a place to grab a bite/drink and take a break from the bumper cars. This was such a fantastic unexpected gem! From the unassuming neighborhood and humble decor, we weren’t sure what we were in for, but we were so pleasantly surprised! We sat at the bar and ordered the special Halibut Picatta to share, a delicately pan-seared flaky white fish with lemon, butter, and capers with a glass of their house Pinot Grigio. They offered to make a simple side of fettuccine with the same delicious sauce to accompany the meal, chef’s kiss! The meal was beautifully ended with an espresso, a cannolo siciliano, and a Porto. Can’t wait to send my mom their way to speak in Italian with the owners! Will be back 🤗

Cucina Basilico has all the makings of a great spot—cute, charming, and welcoming, with a reasonably priced menu that offers a nice range of Italian favorites. Naturally, I went with the lasagna ($22)—because what’s more classic Italian than that?

But… meh.

The top layer was burnt, the marinara sauce was basically MIA, and the dish came without garlic bread, which just felt wrong. For something that should’ve been rich, saucy, and satisfying, it ended up being underwhelming. The atmosphere gets a thumbs up, but the lasagna? Not so much.

This place is absolutely amazing. The service was exceptional and we felt so welcomed. The handmade pasta and dishes are to die for. My husband has the special and I had the pescatore dish followed with dessert. We will definitely be back!

Outstanding!! I just happened to be staying at the Hilton around the corner for a week long work trip. I came here 3 times! Homemade pasta, delicious cannolis, quick service, and a great staff. A must if you’re in the area. 💯 I highly recommend any pasta dish and a cannoli for dessert. Enjoy!😊

My wife and I always make it a point to eat at Cucina Basilico when we visit from LA. Between the amazing, authentic Italian food and awesome, attentive staff, it's hard to go wrong here.

I'd suggest the Norcina with gnnochi, but everything I've tried has been delicious. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

Been coming here for the better part of 3 years now at least once a month and this place is always so welcoming and the food is consistently delicious. The staff truly make the experience and they always ensure you’re having a good experience and go above and beyond to provide that. Pablo in particular is usually there when we dine and he is an incredible person and always treats everyone with so much kindness. Definitely give this place a try if you’re in the area!

Absolutely FANTASTIC! A hole-in-the-wall, cozy Italian restaurant that knocks every dish out of the park. The quality and flavor behind their dishes is phenomenal and puts them far ahead of many Italian spots in town.
