there are not a lot of Peruvian restaurants in San Diego. The food here is really good. You should definitely give it a try if you’ve never had Peruvian food before. Their hours are super weird. They’re only open for lunch a couple of days and are not open for dinner so make sure you check the website before you go. It’s relatively casual so don’t be expecting a fine dining experience.

Best Peruvian Restaurant in San Diego!
If you’re craving authentic lomo saltado and fresh, flavorful ceviche, this is the place to go. The appetizers are just as impressive, and the customer service is warm, attentive, and welcoming. A true gem for Peruvian cuisine lovers!

We ordered out Peruvian food at work. Our coworker is Peruvian and the rest of us have never had Peruvian food. It really enjoyed my lunch. I ordered the Lomo Saltado which was really good. The meat was tender the flavors were warm and very filling. I also tried my co-workers Tallarin and it was also really good.
We were a large group and everything was packaged up nicely for us. Everything was labeled. They provided sauces for us and they were all really delicious some spicy.

My wife and I love this place. We enjoy the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. I wish parking options were better. But each time we leave here, my wife has a huge smile since she misses Peru. Worth the hassle of parking and worth the quality of the food.

My family is from Peru and we were craving Peruvian food. After googling a couple of restaurants and reading reviews we decided to try Eli’s and I’m so glad we tried it. Frustrating at first because we could not find parking whatsoever, it took us around 15 mins and lots of circling the restaurant to find a spot. We were greeted nicely by our waitress, she was bilingual which was a huge plus and very nice. She recommended some drinks and we ordered food. The food had a great taste, causa took me back to my grandmas kitchen and the ceviche took me back to a beachfront restaurant in Peru. Taste was on point, my dad had the lomo saltado and he said it was good and my mom had the arroz changa de camarón and it was okay. The empanada was good, a little small but good just not amazing but the flavor was there. Dessert was delicious. Wish I would’ve taken more pictures but we were hungry! Bathroom was clean, only one bathroom, shared but the restaurant is small, so no issue there. Restaurant has only 6-8 tables, I’m not sure. Overall 5 stars and would def go back.

Delicious place!! Took me back to Peru 💖
This place looks humble from the outside but inside packs true authentic Peruvian food and beverages. We chose the sampler--ideal for beginners and for expert foodies. Shrimp, calamares, fried yuca, traditional papas huancaine (Potatoes in special sauce), and traditional ceviche, served with 2 sauces. Awesome!! We also shared rotisserie chicken, with dark meat this time, with flavorful chicken falling off the bone garnished by rice and salad with a traditional dressing. I chose a Diet Inca Kola, the lo cal version of age-old traditional Inca Kola, an upscaled version of cream soda. We also tried the traditional Peruvian tea, a sweetened earthy tea found nowhere except Peru.
HUGO offered great attentive service in this venue with linen table cloths, silverware, and large screen TV. The subtle background music of real Peruvian tunes contributes to the ambiance.
Legible laminated menus.
Accessible entry/exit and tables. Accessible restroom with grab bars, small area.
Accessible free street parking that can be hard to find in busy times.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Tak home some canned peppers or ullocos.

After wanting to try Eli’s for a while, my boyfriend and I finally stopped by. Neither of us had ever had Peruvian food, so we were excited. I got the arroz chaufa vegan (fried rice) and a maracuyá (passion fruit) drink. The ceviche looked good, but unfortunately, it was not available the day we went. The fried rice was packed with tofu and really tasty, and the drink was super refreshing! It was over 100 degrees the day we visited (months ago), so the drink was definitely our favorite part for obvious reasons. The person working was very kind, explained the menu, and was vegan aware. We also learned some Peruvian slang while we were there, which was fun. We enjoyed our visit and look forward to going back! Updated from previous review on 2024-12-03

There is a small vegan section of the menu with vegan ceviche, vegan fried rice and quinoa salad. Unfortunately the ceviche was not available. The fried rice with tofu was really good!!! A few of the other menu items said it could be made vegan, however our server clarified that there is beef stock in the sauce. Nice atmosphere and friendly service!
