Yep this one's a winner. They are selling food but the building isn't complete yet. Tables and chairs inside. Good food, flavorful.

Loved it. The greens tasted great, so much flavor. The catfish was so good, tasted so fresh! Candied yams was chefs kiss! Not too soft and not too sweet. The giant chocolate cookie was soft. I wasn't a fan of the seasoning for the ribs but I will say they were falling off the bone. I see why they have earned their 5 star reviews.

I went here with one other person. The two staff members there were very nice and the food was heavenly, especially the Mac-N-Cheese. Would go here again when I have enough money.

Love love this place! Catfish is fire!!!
I've ordered from here since 2011. I've had food from their main Oceanside location, the location that used to be in the Target shopping center across from Rookies, and the San Marcos location. I have also order Thanksgiving dinners a few times from the Carlsbad location. Over the past couple years the food quality has went completely down. They switched up round cakes to flat square cake and there is a very noticeable difference in the recipe. The new way they make the cakes are so nasty. I used to stop in just to get a piece of kiwi lime cake nearly every week, now you couldn't pay me to eat that disgusting cake. After numerous noticeable changes in food quality I stuck to just ordering gumbo. The gumbo was delicious! But the last 2 times I had it the gumbo was disgusting. I ordered $45 worth of food last week. The gumbo tasted HEAVILY of tomatoes and bland seasoning. I ordered the new red snapper fish and the fish had NO seasoning, not even salt! I was fed up because this wasn't the first time I've ordered from Felix's and the food was uneatable. I called and complained because they got me for $45. The person who answered the food said it was probably just a new cook and she'd let the chef know the issues. Not good enough, I asked her to have a manager call me back. I would have GLADLY brought the food back because I wanted a refund. She took my info but I never heard back from them. It is a shame that a Black owned restaurant who started out with savory and well seasoned southern foods has decided to go bland to meet the taste of non-Black people. This is why Daruis Cooks rated you guys so poorly. You no longer have authentic standards for real southern food and ZERO consistency on quality. I ordered gumbo from the Cheesecake Factory the next day, and although it wasn't close to authentic, it was 100% better than yours. I doubt my one opinion will matter much to you but I am extremely disappointed in this business. I hope the location you are planning to open in SD caters to Black People because the Black owned businesses in SD actually make authentic southern food and you've proven to be unreliable in that regards.
Great food decent portions, so far the best soul food in SD! Still under construction I’m assuming giving pop up vibes.

Some of the best barbecue you will eat is being served by these folks, smoking the meat and using the finest sauce to bring an authentic smokey flavor to your weekend lunch or supper. I suggest a rack of ribs and some pulled pork. Round it out with some bbq chicken and beef brisket. Pile it high and go to town. Mix and match your favorites all year long. The possibilities are endless, and the depth of flavor asks questions you don't even want to know the answer to.
Vegetarian options: While the smoked meats are not vegetarian, please don't let that stop you from enjoying them to the fullest.
Kid-friendliness: This place serves bbq and soul. Your kid will likely prefer one over the other. But it doesn't hurt to gently point them in your desired direction.
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes!
