The Pendry advertised a Boozy Tea option via their official Instagram page. We booked through Open Table. When we arrived we were informed we had no reservation - not even our open table reservation. We were also told there was no Boozy Tea option. We then were told to sit away from the bar. There was no table service. The manager told us he could do the tea service but it might be a wait since the tea etc needed to be prepped. We waited for 30 minutes with no server. Finally the manager offered us food. He never returned. An hour later a server (a woman) started to wait on us. We informed her about the Boozy tea â this is when she informed us not only was that not an option that the kitchen was absolutely not going to provide that serviceâ despite the manager telling us they would. We eventually left. No where on the IG ad did the Pendry mention you need to book exclusively through concierge or the manager.
Consider yourself lucky if Vel is serving you! Sheâs the sweetest lady đ

My friend and I ordered âWagyu and Caviar Skewersâ $41 that came with gold, and honestly, the meat was absolutely delicious.
My martini was just okay.
However, I wasnât impressed with the service. When I arrived no one greeted me. I stood there looking around, but no one seemed to notice or offer help. I approached the bar and told a staff member I had a reservation and wanted to be seated. He directed me somewhere outside the bar, and when I asked whyâsince I had a reservation insideâhe apologized and said he thought I was asking for the restroom.
It wasnât a huge deal, but the staff at the bar looked noticeably stressed. Come on, people go there to relaxâgive the staff the support they need so they can be happier at work. Overall, the atmosphere felt a bit off, maybe a 3 out of 5.

The best espresso martini I've had in quite some time. The coconut foam was the perfect sweetness to balance the bitterness of the espresso.
Hip bar/lounge located in the Pendry hotel.
Nice cocktail list.
Good service.
Live DJ on weekends.

We went just for a drink- but the there is little choice and the Lady said she needed the Credit Card to reserve while we stay, which was kind of weird. And it was so loud and noisy. Not that good experience.
While we didn't eat at Fifth and Rose, we did drink! We had a lovely time sipping on cocktails into the late night and enjoyed the ambiance immensely. Definitely recommend!
Allegedly, even years later I still remember watching football here on the black and white TVs with my friends from out of state and acting like it was normal for San Diego. I cannot confirm if the TVs are still there because I may have recalled that last time they were gone. Bless their heart. Regardless, highly recommend for anywhere upscale. Staff was always nice here too, and itâs a great place to take half dozen shots before an adventure, allegedly.
I did not eat the food, so It is not a 100% accurate reading but it looked good, vibes were good and the dj was loud, nice spot to either start the night or if you stay in the hotel its a nice bar to hit.
We arrived for our reservation and were ignored by multiple staff members & finally walked over & asked bar staff for help. They sent the same staff member who had walked by us repeatedly & she finally sat us. She brought 2 plates and only 1 set of cutlery and 1 plate had food residue all over it. We finally got her attention again & asked for a new plate. She took the dirty plate & never returned with a clean one. We had 2 drinks and 2 appetizers, which were minuscule for the price. We shared 1 set of cutlery and 1 plate. Realizing the experience was not going to get any better, we then left & went & ate somewhere else. Our Valentines evening was very clearly not as advertised, and you would expect far more from a place like the Pendry. The service was absolutely horrible. Our server definitely did not want to be there. The food was mediocre at best. Beyond disappointed, especially on such a special evening.
