Even though the seating is tight, the environment still felt welcoming and relaxed. Amazing food. Excellent service. Will be returning ASAP.
Fantastic tacos. Everything from the freshness and quality of the fish to the incredible tortillas and toppings are top notch. I’d recommend visiting with a friend or two so you can try more things!
The staff is also welcoming and friendly. I’ll be back for my second visit very soon.
Went in right before they opened and had one person in front of me. The service was excellent. I ordered the Baja fish tacos and they were the best fish tacos I have ever had north of the border! The handmade tortillas were absolutely fire! As an sd local, I echo others who are unable to come in here on the weekends being that it is so busy, but if you have time, do come on the weekdays to get your fix! Thank you Fish Guts for the fresh meal!
The shrimp taco was a die for! And the homemade tortillas were just the icing on the cake!!! I wish they sold them separately so we could take them home 🙈 Here’s a tip. We drove by on the weekend and there was a line every time, but when we came during the week during the day, we got to walk right in and sit down. Obviously, only some people have time to do that, but I do believe that even if you do have to wait, it’s worth it.
Great customer service, but depending on the day you might have to wait 10-20 mins due to limited seating. Definitely worth it for me, ordered the oyster tacos, swordfish and the beer battered fish. Scrumptious!!!! I will definitely come back here. The cocktails looked good, too. If you're looking for your normal mom and pop birria tacos, this place is different. No hot sauce required on Fish Gut tacos, they're that good!
In town from VA for 36 hours and grabbed some fish tacos here on a Wednesday late afternoon after finding them recommended on the Eater website. These were without question the best fish tacos I have had in a long long time. Super fresh ingredients and a ton of love in the preparation. The hand maid corn tortillas melt in your mouth, the crunch of the creamy slaw blended perfectly with the crispy, flaky fish. I tried both the beer-battered white fish and the blackened swordfish - both were Next Level. It's a 10 min Uber ride from the Gaslamp district but 200% worth the trouble. Thank you Fish Guts!
In nice sunny san diego, it's a shame they make it dark, cold and windy. The food and service is top tier. The architecture and layout is a fail.
A MUST VISIT! Best fish tacos I’ve ever had!
Best Tacos!
They are fresh and really good! Never had so tasty fish Tacos.
Thanks for this yummy taste!
Incredible. Love the focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients with unique flavors. Loved everything I tried, and don’t sleep on the michelada.

A nice little fish taco restaurant in an upcoming area with limited menu. When we were there, they run out the only appetizer and one of the tacos. The fish tastes fresh, the portion was small.

At about $5 per taco it can seem like a lot but the quality and the presentation let you know your getting your money's worth. The menu is small but what they have is fantastic.
Vegetarian options: They have one taco that's vegetarian but I guess it's a best seller so make sure you don't wait too late in the night to go and see if they have it.
