Our server was Trent and he was really nice and attentive! He gave us a wonderful time while eating here and made sure we were all set with our meal.

The food was really good and I would come back whenever I am in San Diego again.

We went in for the lunch service at opening and had a good time. All of the food was delicious. We got a lot of extra food that we probably didn't need to get, but there is a lot of variety of things you can get at this restaurant.

Great food and experience! Went here for restaurant week, and it was great! The only drawback was the sewage smell as you entered. They definitely need to fix that

The $25 lunch was filling and delicious. We loved the nice salad and dressing, the appetizer-fried and steamed chili dumplings, the spinach, and the level A with nicely seasoned beef and tasty basil chicken. The s'more was a nice sweet finish.

***The most perfect japanese bbq food and service***

Came here by myself. Checked in with a reservation. The area is quite clean and presentable. The service is very responsive and knowledgeable when comes to food. The food itself is fresh and fantastic. Can't really find anything to criticize other than the price itself, but it's worth it. If I can, would give this place another star.

***Come on an empty stomach, you'll thank me later***

A Dining Experience Made Perfect by Kealoha's Exceptional Service!

As a frequent visitor of Gyu-kaku, I was excited to try their San Diego downtown location. As always, the food was delicious and met the high standards I've come to expect. However, what truly made this visit stand out was the outstanding service provided by Kealoha.

Kealoha's attentiveness, knowledge, and warm personality made my meal truly unforgettable. She went above and beyond to ensure that my experience was nothing short of amazing. Her thoughtful recommendations and friendly demeanor added an extra touch of magic to the evening.

I can't thank Kealoha enough for making my visit to Gyu-kaku San Diego downtown so delightful. Her dedication to providing excellent service is a testament to the high-quality experience that Gyu-kaku is known for. I can't wait to return and enjoy another fantastic meal with Kealoha's top-notch service!

Our server was Vee, and they really made our night out special. They were very warm and sociable, attentive, and had great vibes. I visit SD every year so I try new places often, but I’d come back here just for Vee. We love you!! ❤️

Very good Japanese, the meat menu to cook at the table was perfect!!! 100% recommended. It is good to call to reserve a table, otherwise on Saturdays it gets busy and you have to wait.

Can't go wrong here if you're a carnivore like me and don't mind cooking your own food. Endless choices, and what a great date night it would make.

Just saw the logo. Then Mama's voice shouted, "We survived." The rest of the people turned to each other: How did we survive? But is it true that it's more delicious than Thailand? Probably because I haven't seen meat anywhere that tastes worse than in Thailand, haha. But it's definitely something here. More full than any meal

The protein options were quite tasty! The garlic rice is a must.

This is an American version of the Japanese yakiniku restaurant where meat is grilled at the table. I ordered a spicy beef bowl that was cooked without grilling for a quick lunch. I was very disappointed to see that the food served 2-3 people with rice mixed with canned corn, a little bit of very tough meat, and mixed with red pepper paste and ketchup. And when cleaning the tables in the store, a lot of harsh disinfectants were used, so I lost my appetite.

My husband and I are regulars at the gaslamp location, and I have to say that this is the best location in SD. Every time we come, we’re greeted with the warmest welcome back. Jazz is often our server and she’s great as well as the other staff! Jazz remembers our names, and order even our drinks!
The food is amazing and tastes the closest to the Gyu Kaku we had in Japan. We always get the Prime Kalbi, Zucchini, Garlic Shrimp and Toro Beef. The gyoza is always fresh and perfectly cooked. Service is fast, and the wait staff is attentive.
The atmosphere is very welcoming and it does not get too crowded where we have to wait 10+ minutes. If you’re thinking about going to Korean bbq DON’T this outbeats it every time.

The quality here was great and the service, excellent. We made a couple special requests and they were happy to accommodate. The meats are the centerpiece, of course, but don't miss out on options like grilled broccoli & cheese sauce or garlic noodles. Delish!
