I ate at the original handle’s ice cream in Youngstown, Ohio as a child. I visited locations all over the country to include North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, Utah, and California. This location in San Diego is definitely pricey, but the ice cream as always was top-notch.!
We loved the ice cream from here, there are so many flavors I’d go back in a heartbeat. I shared the four-scoop sampler with my husband and tried salted caramel truffle, Carmel brownie, strawberry cheesecake and vanilla Oreo. All of the above were incredible. The line was long on a Saturday night, which is understandable. I think it’s worth the wait, I’d certainly recommended this spot over In ‘n Out Burger.
Handel’s is an iconic San Diego spot and a must if you’re around Mission Beach. Whenever I’m in the area I make it a point to walk over and grab an ice cream. The flavors are great, the portions are generous, and it has that classic beach-town vibe. Definitely something to put on your list if you’re visiting.
