My husband and I were on our way back to San Diego from Coronado Island, craving some Hawaiian fare. After a quick search, we found Homestyle Hawaiian located in Midway Point Loma--perfectly on our route. Although it took about 35 minutes to get our food, it was absolutely worth the wait. We indulged in the chicken katsu--crispy, golden, and smothered in a delectable katsu sauce, accompanied by a creamy macaroni salad and fluffy rice. We didn't stop there. We also tried the regular spam musubi, the Portuguese spam musubi, and the deep-fried spam musubi, each more scrumptious than the last. We can't wait to return! A special shout-out to the staff, who were not only friendly but also exceptionally attentive, making our wait feel shorter with their great service. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait, but trust me, the food and the warmth of the service make it well worth it.

We were super excited to try this place before a nice day on the water. Unfortunately, despite there being no one in the restaurant, we had an unexpected 30 minute wait for 2 orders of Chicken Teriyaki. The employee at the front desk was extremely apologetic, but we had no warning it would take that long or we would've chosen another place to eat. Also the rest of our orders came up almost immediately which means by the time our full order was ready for take out, half of our order was lukewarm at best. That said, my lukewarm Chicken Katsu was pretty good and I'm sure it would've been delicious hot. Our guests liked the Chicken Teriyaki as well despite the lengthy wait!

Not much aloha here...katsu chicken with BBQ sauce?? Say it's not so...but it was! Single scoop of rice with the lunch plate...overall blah. I think there's a 'chain competitor' nearby...Mac salad was below a Vons deli counter. Auntie would not be proud...plus it took almost 20 min for 1 takeout order!!! No mahalo

Worst looking Lumpia I have ever seen. Not a tight roll. Burnt on edges. Won't be back

I just want to start off by saying most of the time that I come to this restaurant. I love it there! That being said, today there was someone super pushy behind the counter who didn't want me to read the menu. Wanted me to know exactly what I needed and so I just ordered the first thing off of the top of my head and it was the worst meal ever. Disgusting. That being said, The rest of the food here is super good. It was just that I ordered something because I was being pressured by the woman behind the counter.

This place is amazing!! From their food to their customer service-- it was such a great experience. I got the combo plates, in which i was impressed at the amount of food they give you. Everything was fresh and came out steaming hot. The place is kept very clean and has nice relaxing music playing. I would highly recommend their lumpia, chicken katsu, fried spam musubi, and the Korean beef! I'll definitely be back.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!! We drive about 30 mins just for Hawaiian food! Their deep fried masubis are the best thing ever!! I haven't found it anywhere else that makes it. Everything is so good here! The owners are super nice and friendly, I love going there just for that too! Tricia always greets you with a huge smile on her face.

This is my favorite Hawaiian spot in San Diego & It's a family owned business. The service is excellent, atmosphere is very chill & the food is amazing. I always get the Loco Moco with a Hawaiian Sun 'Pineapple Orange' If your craving for some Hawaiian food, I recommend Homestyle

Food is great here but patrons beware. Their business practices on charging patrons is awful. If you in cash no issues. If you pay with a card then the menu prices change on your order. They tack on a fee for each item you buy. They don't tell you this upfront. I only noticed this after looking over my receipt. I spoke with the cashier and asked about the menu price vs the price charge on my receipt and that's when she told me. Big bummer I ate at the Tierrasanta location and the same thing happened. Just a heads up for customers

I am doing three stars because the customer service was amazing. The woman working the register was extremely nice and even offered to remake our food but I wasn't in a patient enough mood to wait. With that being said whomever was cooking today was definitely over being there or new because the food was highly disappointing. The shrimp in our shrimp scampi plates were extremely overcooked to the point where you couldn't even chew it. The musubi was more like a hand roll at a Japanese restaurant, flavor was still good but it definitely was not what I would consider a musubi. Lastly the Mac salad lacked flavor across the board, definitely needed some salt/pepper.

A solid restaurant. Great service, friendly and helpful staff. Not sure of what to order don't worry their selection is amazing and the workers would help you with a quality selection on their menu. Come alone or with some people. There is plenty of space in the restaurant.

The food is great but the hours of operation are not accurate, which is very frustrating. There have been three times now where my husband and I have tried to go here for dinner around 4:45/5:30 and the restaurant is closed. When we looked online before driving over it had stated that it was open. Although the food is good the lack of reliable hours is causing us to give up on it. I recommend trying it if you go sometime before 4pm, but after that is a toss-up if it will be open.

Very delish Hawaiian food! Owner served us and was so nice and very friendly. Did not know this Homestyle Hawaiian restaurant was on Midway Drive Point Loma has been here 8 years as owner explained! We loveHomestyle Hawaiianand frequent their location in Tierrasanta and Chula. Wish I knew this outstanding restaurant was here long ago bc we go to a NOT so great one nearby when craving a Hawaiian Plate Lunch. You MUST give Homestyle Hawaiian in Point Loma a try over all other Hawaiian plate lunch AND traditional Hawaiian cuisine if in the area. Hands down food is outstanding and fresh and servings very generous!?
