Hongdae Dakgalbi Reviews
Food is fire, well worth the price. You will not regret this choice. One of two new places worth recommending in SD this summer.
Loved it, so good! And yes, the portions are HUGE! :)
I had a great time as a first timer. The staff was very knowledgable and kind, and the food was fantastic. I'll be back soon.

Hongdae Dakgalbi is a Korean Chuncheon‑style spicy stir‑fried chicken spot on Convoy. Each table must order at least two dishes; the staff cooks everything at the table. The chicken is well‑marinated, very flavorful, and tender. It is stir‑fried with rice cakes, sweet potatoes, and cabbage in a Korean spicy sauce that soaks up the flavor. Cheese is a must; the melted cheese wraps around the chicken, giving a creamy richness that balances the spice, and the cheese pull is amazing. Side dishes are free and refillable, and guests leave very full. The cold apple radish soup is refreshing, and all the side dishes are fresh. The dalgalbi is enormous and tastes great with lots of vegetables and a perfect sauce. Couples set includes generous portions of soup, steamed egg, and banchan; the dongchimi is a favorite. The dakgalbi with cheese is incredible, and the fried rice is a highlight. Music is not loud, making it pleasant to relax. The team works together effortlessly to cook food to perfection, creating a fun, leisurely meal. Makgeolli, the Korean rice wine, is recommended. It is a great place to take friends and enjoy a delicious, relaxed meal.
