This was my first time trying House of Bao SD, and oh man, it was delicious. The buns were fluffy, tender, and full of flavorful fillings. I got one of each of their bao buns. The BBQ Pork Bun, chicken, vegetables, cabbage, and mushrooms. It was a deal of 3 bao buns for 10 dollars. The cabbage and mushrooms stood out to me because they tasted like southern style collard greens, only without ham. The mushrooms gave it that meaty taste, even though it's a vegan bun. The service was great. I would definitely go back and try more items on the menu. You can find them every Thursday at the Ocean Side Sunset Market. Check them out and give them a try!!!

We tried the House of Bao pop up at the 2026 Cherry Blossom Festival at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park.

The line moved quickly compared to other vendors, and the Bao’s were hot and flavorful.

Amazing experience from this vendor, the buns were exquisite and the shopkeeper was very sweet. We all shared a few buns at first but I had to go back up and purchase 4 of my own. Wow, thanks House of Bao!

I go to this place all the time and usually have a good experience but I went at sunset market today. Asked for chili oil and they said they didn’t have any and then watched as the guy behind the counter grabbed a box with a jar FULL of chili oil and moved in underneath the counter. Also had to ask for chopsticks multiple times which were hidden under the counter. Not sure who they’re saving that entire jar of chili oil for but honestly pretty disappointed considering the prices have gone up and your dumplings are advertised everywhere with chili oil. Kinda weird.

Address on website very misleading. They should have a post stating we only do markets or pop ups . Very disappointed

Reached out to these guys because my son requested their buns for his birthday. He had tried them at Hillcrest Farmers Market and was all about them. Family was crazy busy on a packed weekend and the good folks of House of Bao were sooooooo accommodating and helpful. They went out of their way to fulfill his birthday wish and the baos were precisely what he had recalled and hoped for!!!!!! Thank you House of Bao SD

HOUSE OF BAO brought their pop-up to a three day 3000 guest festival we hosted over the last weekend, and they were fantastic! The line was always long because the food was so delicious. All of their bao were amazing, along with their dumplings! My daughter said the cream buns were divine, while my favorite was the shu mai. I really appreciated the fact that of all the vendors, House of Bao never ran out of food because they made certain to restock throughout the day!House of Bao even catered a 150 guest lunch and it was also amazing! I cannot say enough good things about HOUSE OF BAO!
