Food and drink was delicious and the decor is very stylish. I came to people watch in Comic Con weekend and the view from the indoor high tables did not disappoint.

I wish I could have given more but due to service, I feel even 3 stars is generous.

We dined here during San Diego Comic-Con weekend with a 5:30 PM reservation and were told we’d need to wrap up by 7:30—which we completely understood given the busy weekend. Ironically, we didn’t leave until 8:30, not because we lingered, but because the service was incredibly slow and disorganized.

We had high expectations going in, given the elevated pricing and the overall feel of a nicer dining experience. Unfortunately, the service did not reflect that at all. Our waiter was barely present, drink refills were slow or nonexistent, and one drink never even arrived. There also seemed to be no communication between the server and the bussing staff—dishes we were still enjoying were taken away prematurely, including ones we had ordered more bread for.

It took nearly an hour and a half before we were even able to place our main course orders. It was difficult to get our server’s attention, and when he finally approached us, he said, “I’m ready when you’re ready,” which felt especially frustrating given how long we’d been waiting.

As for the food, it was a mixed experience. The tomato burrata was excellent, and the miso fish was a standout. The Parker Rolls are a must. The Greek salad, on the other hand, was drenched in dressing, the corn soup felt cold, and many of the cocktails were unbalanced.

A 20% automatic gratuity was added for our party, which is standard for larger groups, but it felt unfortunate given the poor level of service we received.

Overall, we were really looking forward to this meal and expected a polished, well-paced experience, but sadly the service and execution didn’t match the setting or price point.

Last year, Huntress delivered magic. The kind of night that reminds you why people still gather over steak and cocktails to make deals. So I returned, this time with business partners, expecting the same.

Instead, I got a masterclass in disappointment.

We were seated promptly. Greeted warmly. Drinks ordered. Then our server vanished. He walked by repeatedly, avoiding eye contact as music pounded through the space. We had to flag him down through another table. Ninety minutes in, we finally placed our order.

The food? Frustratingly good. Parker House rolls, sweet corn soup, and miso sea bass all impressed. The tomato burrata was excellent—until it was cleared mid-bite.

Service never recovered. No check-ins. A salad drenched in dressing sat untouched. Sending it back wasn’t worth the wait.

Drinks were overpriced and underwhelming. “The Remedy” tasted like expired cough syrup. We sent it back. I requested a simple gin substitution in a rum-based cocktail. Was told no—no reason given.

We finished with the Magic Mushroom. It looked like a Vegas stage prop. More flash than flavor. The lemon verbena dessert was better, but by then, the mood had soured.

A mandatory 20% gratuity was added. Fair on paper. But when your server knows his tip is locked in, service becomes optional. Ours was.

I asked to speak to a manager. Was told they were too busy.

We left disappointed. Huntress used to feel like a secret worth sharing. Now it feels like a lesson in how quickly a good place can lose its way. We won’t be back

The food was so good here! And we got the ABSOLUTE BEST service from John! He was so attentive, so considerate and his recommendations were amazing. We had booked the Chef's tasting menu and it was just absolutely delicious. Loved it so much that we're going in again tonight!

This place was ok. Not lot of variety and the few items that are on the menu are just ok. Not worth $200+ tab we incurred. But the staff was friendly. That's the only plus from the entire night.

I don’t understand the Chefs reasoning for changing the menu to a “summer menu” they removed the only food people enjoyed and now have their cheapest steak for 110 that’s a ribeye with only fat and chewy. Chef is trying to do too much.

Quite frankly, I was expecting a much more tender steak. The meat was tough and sinewy.

We tried to make reservations at another steak house but they were booked so we decided to try huntress I heard good things so we gave it a try. The hostess was helpful and friendly there’s 2 dining areas 1 down stairs and the 2nd floor that’s where we ate there’s stairs or an elevator but it’s a bit slow so we took the stairs. It’s a nice restaurant Chris our waiter was very tentative and informative of the menu. All steaks are à la cart. For starters we had the warm bread for 10.00 only enough for 2 people. And For starters we had The yellowtail sashimi great flavor and melted in your mouth I really wanted a wedge salad I couldn’t believe a steak house that doesn’t have a wedge smh. For the main We had a filet mignon cooked medium a bone in ribeye, medium rare and a regular ribeye also medium rare. The presentation of the steak was not that great. They were warm at best lack a bit of flavor. It definitely could have been better not one of my favorite steakhouses. I wanted to love the food but i have eaten at so many steak houses like cowboy star Morten’s Ruth Chris and Del frisco just to name a few I more than likely would not go back Maybe because it’s the day after Valentine’s Day not sure, but I did expect more from huntress steaks I can say the staff, the cocktails and the restaurant visually was amazing.

Huntress had been on my list for several months, and was a breath of fresh air for the SD restaurant scene. The biggest issue with restaurants in CA near this price point are that service is an afterthought, and spectacle supersedes execution. I am happy to say that the attention to the diner's experience made for a very enjoyable meal.

We did not have cocktails, but it is clear that the whisky selection was curated with a careful eye, and wine list was more than serviceable. I typically find Tempranillos to be boring in the states, but the origin signaled a knowledgeable sommelier. It offered just enough to justify the pairing. The star of the amuse bouche was the Wagyu puff, but the other two offerings (short rib en croute, tartare taco), were also very nice and had their intended effect. The lobster curry soup was perfectly fine. Conceptually, I understand what they were going for but in execution, it was much more of a curry than a soup; the consistency was not ideal. Glad they kept the whole ribs of romaine for the caesar salad; it was about what you would expect. Parker house rolls with housemade butters added a creative complement to the meal.

For the main courses, we enjoyed the truffle agnolotti and the boneless ribeye. Both were worthwhile in their own right. There was a nice balance of all flavors and a velvety mouth feel for the pasta, and the char on the steak made the dish worth getting. The thousand layer potato was an accompaniment that elevated the dish, and is the type of detail that differentiated Huntress from a typical steakhouse. It is worth mentioning that the XO sauce, serrano ranch, and chives were nowhere to be found in the flavor profile. So, I would rework the dish or leave them off the menu. We were fortunate to dine during restaurant week, which made for an exceptional value for the experience. Not exactly opulent (which I like), but at a price point that is easily north of $100/person without alcohol. That said, will definitely return and would recommend to anyone.

Visited this place for an unforgettable NYE dinner. This upscale restaurant truly lives up to the hype. The menu may be small, but every dish is thoughtfully presented and absolutely delicious. We started with some incredibly fresh oysters--an amazing way to kick off the meal. The rolls with trio of butters (miso, spicy togarashi, and black bean) are a must-try and full of flavor! The yellowtail appetizer was perfectly balanced--light, refreshing, and vibrant--while the gem salad was just as delightful. My boyfriend ordered the NY steak medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection, tender, and packed with flavor. We're already looking forward to our next visit when we're back in town!

Pros: Service was top notch!

Cons: Speaker system right above our heads and DJ adjacent blaring music so loud it drowned out conversation. When we asked if this could be modified, management explained in so many terms that “we’ll ask him to turn it down, but this is how we do things.” Basically, the vibe from him, even though he was professional was, “you’re the problem.” Okay, no big deal, we should’ve researched this option better. This was “techno Xmas” we were seeking more “dinner jazz Xmas.” Second thing, if I’m spending $300+ on dinner the roasted carrots (which were actually parsnips) shouldn’t be hard. We waited so long for our entrées that I didn’t say anything bc we hungry. Our Bavettes were just okay. Not worthy of a $40+ cut of meat and our Beef Wellingtons, for how long we waited for the entrées, were undercooked. Overall, a mediocre experience, def won’t be back.
