I have never been this embarrassed by the customer service from a food and beverage establishment. They treat the hotel guests here like animals. I experienced this months ago when I stayed here, but assumed it was an isolated incident. I suggested this hotel to my client due to its proximity to my business in LaJolla. This evening, food and beverage staff scolded my client (and guest of the hotel) in front of the entire bar for having suggested that they served the wrong beverage. Their aggressive friend who was sitting at the bar joined in on the berating of my client. I can confirm that it was, in fact, a food and beverage error in serving the wrong beverage. Embassy suites should be embarrassed for being associated with such a restaurant operator. The employees have no business being in customer service. I strongly suggest choosing another hotel. I believe that management knows there is a problem and just does not give a damn.

Steak Kabob was as tough as it gets. Never had a steak this bad. The veggies served with it were hopelessly undercooked. Waiter asked if I liked the food, my face should have clearly indicated it wasn’t good, he simply ignored it.A waiter in a good restaurant would have picked up on this and sorted something out, not here though. I’d suggest avoid the place

The food is absolutely amazing. There’s no bad options and the chef is very friendly and attentive. I can’t say anything about the bar because I’m underage but the food is very delicious.

Room was nice, bed was nice. But why is parking not included and $40 a night extra. Parking structure also doesn’t have enough space for cars to go in and out at the same time. They give coupons for free drinks but the liquor is so poor of quality that you will get a nasty headache.
My big family of 6 stayed here because our daughter was graduating from UC San Diego. It’s a very nice and clean hotel. They have a pond with koi fish that you feed. Just ask front desk! They have a snack shop in the Lobby. An indoor heated pool with an outdoor hot tub, They serve an amazing breakfast style buffet in the morning that is delicious. They also provide snacks and 2 free drinks at the bar. We love this hotel! Will definitely stay here again when visiting San Diego. It’s right across the street from the mall, walking distance to PF Changs Restaurant, and close to Whole Foods super market. Rooms are nice and spacious. Great for big families!
The suite was large. It has microwave, small refrigerator. Very clean and roomy. The bedroom was Hugh with a very firm mattress. The sofa bed mattress is so terrible. The mattress was thin. We felt all the coil springs inside the mattress. It should be replaced asap.
Embassy Suites by Hilton San Diego La Jolla is a great place to stay that has everything that you need in one location. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have everything that you need for the best stay possible. Good experience every time I have been here.
We chose this property due to its location and in addition we have stayed at the Marriott and the Hyatt already. Normally, Embassy Suites is my first choice, as I'm not a fan of buffet breakfast, nor do I tend to enjoy or partake in their evening reception. We were quickly checked in by the front office manager. What a warm welcome by this wonderful employee. Her recommendation for dining out locally resulted in one of our very best dining experiences ever. Their rooms are not the usual worn-out Embassy Suites rooms. Clean, modern with very nice furnishings. We even had breakfast the next morning as we had an early appt to get to. It was definitely above the normal offerings in terms of quality. Our freshly prepared omelet was outstanding. This property is not your typical Embassy Suites for (2) reasons. (1) The staff is excellent and deliver a more than usual upscale experience. (2) This is not a family-oriented area. Most travelers, mid-week, seem to be seasoned business travelers. Alraedy booked out next (2) stays as this is now our go to for business in La Jolla.
Many of the employees, the breakfast staff, the restaurant staff and especially Nate, the Bellman were great. However, the front desk people were not great. We arrived 30 minutes after check-in and the woman said our room was ready, but that it needed to be inspected. At least 5 times, she said it would be just 5 minutes. When her shift was done, she left. Nate was also off duty, but he waited to take our luggage up to our room. That was 45 minutes later. Nate was so wonderful, he made sure the hotel made it up to us and he sent my husband a personal birthday card! Also, although we asked for maid service every day, 3 times they didn't even make the bed! And we left $5 for a tip every day. Once, we were gone all morning and came back at 3:30pm, but they hadn't done the room. We called the front desk and they told us they now had to clean the rooms for check-in and weren't sure when they would get to us. We told them that was unacceptable. They did come and clean it, but we had to wait for an hour. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place. It wasn't cheap and they charge $40/day for parking.
I stayed at the Embassy suites, La Jolla for six nights while in transition from one Home to another. I am a disabled veteran and found that quite often my room key would have to be reprogrammed. This locked me out of the parking garage and required me to walk to the front desk to get a new key or required me going up to my room on the eighth floor to find out that the key didn’t work, this happened over 10 times and it happened a few times to my wife as well during our stay, it was completely ridiculous and the staff seem completely lackadaisical about it. A few of the stop members even made you feel as if it’s just something you need a deal where they go through. When I inquired about who the manager or acting manager was, they said they’re in between managers and the interim manager is not available . I definitely will not stay at this facility ever again as the cleanliness of the room was moderate, however, there was mold in the corners of the bathroom, and then out by the pool around the trees, and all across the spot, and everything was modern. Overall bad experience! A positive thing on note was definitely the Koi pond, and how relaxing the waterfalls are, you do feel like you’re somewhere else for a moment, and the breakfast was amazing and the breakfast staff is incredible!

Faculty is nice, clean and staff is friendly. Morning breakfast is great and if you make it to the evening reception time, a complimentary drink or two is fun. Great location. Walking distance to an outdoor mall, very close to the fwy, restaurants and UCSD. Things to consider. Parking is $40 a day, and DO NOT pick the room option with a sofa bed. Most uncomfortable sofa bed in the world. It will ruin your back. Beds are very comfy though.
Everything about this Embassy Suites and our stay was perfect - other than that our stay was too short. The room was spectacular. Our kids slept on the sofa bed in the front room and my spouse and I slept in the bedroom with a proper bedroom door that actually locked. One of my favorite parts of the stay was the lighting - there must have been 10 or 15 options in the space. Lots of different warm lighting combinations. The gym had two Pelotons. Unfortunately my stay was too short to use them but I appreciated that they had shoe cages attached for travelers without their biking shoes. We enjoyed the pool - the temperature was good and the entire roof over it was a skylight. The staff granted our request for a late checkout at noon without upcharges or snarkiness. Other hotels should take note. This small touch (when feasible and a hotel isn’t sold out) can make a huge difference for travelers who have come a long way. The breakfast selection was massive. They had gluten free pancakes ready for my child which was a huge surprise and greatly appreciated. They also had almond milk, easily accommodating our need for dairy free meals. The interior atrium was classic Embassy Suites style but with huge fish in the ponds and interior waterfalls. We parked on the street for free. Would love to stay here again!!
The customer service at this facility has decreased drastically. I’ve frequented this hotel for years and there is definitely a change. Upgrades are available but not granted. Staff act as if you are an interruption to their day. Diamond membership has no bearing. And the list goes on and on. Less than a year ago, the staff was completely different and had excellent customer service skills. I question if it is even worth the stay now.
Very functional but not fancy. It is nice having the living area in addition to the bedroom. A good hot breakfast with cooked to order eggs is a plus. There is also a beautiful koi pond in the lobby. Free parking. Only complaint is that the gym needs to be larger given the size of the hotel.
It's great for a family vacation stay. The room is spacious and the hotel location is great! I would mainly complain about the pullout sofa bed mattress is too thin. I had to ask the front desk to send a bed pad. And they didn't send the right size for the first time. It's a queen-size bed but they sent a double-size bed pad. The room cleaning staff may need some improvement. They just randomly put my wife's and my sleeping clothing on the nightstands even over the phones. That does't look good. And I purposely left the double-size bed pad aside. The cleaners cover it on top of the fitted bed sheet. If they pay a slight attention, they should know that the size is not right and the pad should never be on top of a bed sheet. My kids slept on the pad for the second night, and we didn't noticed it until next morning. My wife and I fixed it ourself.
