Coffee, pastries, and service used to be fire, but are now mid. Pretty bummed about it. Last 3 visits just weren’t the same in terms of unwelcoming service that kills the atmosphere. I’m really going to miss the coffee, exchanging my jars and getting those cute seasonal koozies—which are no longer a thing. Today, I almost didn’t get one with my return jar, then was rudely informed to bring back my old koozie next time.
There won’t be a next time!

In my opinion, this is a wonderful coffee shop in the Bankers Hill area. It serves excellent coffee with a good variety of pastry items. The staff is very friendly and courteous.

Great coffee and vegan pastries. The people were nice but the spot got really crowded which is great for them but not ideal for someone waiting on their order. We grabbed our lattes and pastries and ate outside. I would go back if I were in the area again.

Well recommended coffee selection, taste a great 8 oz cappuccino. What for me is missing is an inside space where you can talk about your coffee experience.

Cozy coffee shop near Balboa Park. Service was prompt and attentive. Latte was $6.25, and Mocha was $6.50, with regular milk being the form ($1 for alternative milks).
Coffee was very high quality. Bathroom was clean and WiFi was easy to connect to. Will be back!

On a sunny day this is a great spot to swing by for a coffee. On recommendation from the barista we got an iced honey and cinnamon late and it was good. At first I was worried that the honey might be too much since it is a strong flavor but it worked well in the background. Im always a big fan of spices in my coffee so cinnamon was a nice touch. The seating could only fit a few groups but it was pretty empty so it wasnt an issue when we went. Parking isnt too bad either since the edge of the park has a decent amount. Overall it was a pretty good spot.

This is my favorite place to stop when I am out walking San Diego's hidden bridges. The people are friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and restorative, and the latte art is beautiful

Love James Coffee! It’s my number one spot to go for coffee any day. The staff is very friendly and service is awesome. I would highly recommend their iced vanilla latte, rancher, matcha and chai.

This is my go-to coffee shop - Raul, Naiem, Kat, Richard, Claire, Molly, and Alonda are all great - I bring my kids once a week and we are always greeted with kindness - this is our special treat of the week and worth it. The coffee and Split vegan pastries are dope, the people are kind and cool, and the music is always solid. Keep up the great work James crew - y’all are awesome!

James Coffee is the best roaster in San Diego. We brew with the Kalita Wave 185 for the most intense coffee experience. We have tried several other beans and for us, there is no other.
