Good coffee. Good service. Good ambiance. Great name! It's a nice spot to sit and take a breath while having some strong coffee.

The coffee is really good, there's no doubt about that! the service is NOT. I don't understand why everyone is so moody. I have been here over a dozen times and I can honestly say it's like pulling teeth to get the baristas to act like they give a care about you as a person and it really sucks!!

Sweet place, but inexplicably expensive for basic coffee and small sizes. The area is nice though.

I'll start the review by saying the chai that I got was great and the barista was good. The vibe was not for me - the space itself is incredibly small with no indoor seating which made for a crowded space on a gloomy day. There is a small glass case with baked goods and on the day I happened to be here there were about 5-6 options with no labels. I asked the cashier if she could give me a quick run down even of just the fruits in each option and she was visibly annoyed. I thought perhaps she was having a bad day but then spent several minutes chatting with a regular. Honestly between the small space and the ease at which I annoyed an employee, I won't be back and will instead frequent one of the other coffee shops in the neighborhood.

One of the best coffee places. I wish we had coffee this good in Seattle!

Atmosphere was good at 7 am with busy workers and chill tunes playing in the background. This place is NOT dog friendly (no problem) so I waited outside with the dogs while my wife went in to order. We got a cold brew and a honey cinnamon latte, both very good drinks to start our day. Parking was off street and easy to find free parking nearby but I’m sure it gets busier as the day goes on since this is such a close location to balboa park. They also have some breakfast bakery items which we’ll have to try next time we’re backWheelchair accessibility: Single floor with ramps on the street nearby

As much as I love James coffee, I would stop by primarily for their incredible croissants and ham and cheese, which unfortunately have been discontinuing. I was super sad when I found out, they really were the best pastries in San Diego.

Dunno about 4.7, all 3 drinks had a burnt taste from over temp.

Worthless garbage. You'd have better tasting coffee at a boarded up roadside gas station. You'd get better service there too. The staff is rude and snooty. They very much look down their collective noses at "special" requests like milk or sweetener. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Went to James Coffee on my last visit to San Diego - what a gem! The service was welcoming, warm, and friendly. This location is small. Basically standing-room only. There's outdoor seating available, but it's limited. So, I really see this as a grab and go spot. I lucked out and snagged an outdoor seat where I could enjoy my breakfast - an almond croissant paired with a cappuccino. It was a lovely start to my Sunday morning. I will be back next time I'm in town!

Small, quaint, coffee place had a very good cup of coffee. I was new to the area and was pleasantly happy to try this place out.

it was very loud inside the girls who were standing. The coffee machines were shouting very loudly among themselves. So loudly that it was blocking my ears, as if on purpose I asked about the origin of the coffee, to which I did not receive a clear answer, and when the guy asked the girl, she grimaced and muttered something under her breath nose, I think when they brought me coffee it was very bitter and sour, I also asked to add sugar, no one did it, I ordered a cortado, it was brought without milk. The croissant was very tasty, please pay attention to the worker in red, she is very unfriendly and unpleasant
