We were in San Diego for 4 days to enjoy Seaworld, the Zoo and do some whale watching. We found Jimmy Carters Mexican Cafe on Google and it was about a mile from our rental apartment. We went for dinner and a drink the first night and we were so glad we went there. The food was amazing. It came out hot and fast. I had the carnitas adobo with beans and rice. The steak was flavorful and tender, the tortillas were freshly made and hot. My wife had a cheese enchilada with Colorado...
Outstanding chicken burrito. Great value for the price and great service.
My only criticism was that my burrito was drenched in the sauce I ordered. Next time I will ask for sauce on the side or no sauce at all.

This hole-in-the-wall locale is a unique and incredible restaurant of San Diego. I have come here for dinner for years every time I am in town, and it never disappoints. Keep in mind it does close earlier than some dinner restaurants (last call is 7:30). However, I recommend anyone who loves authentic Mexican food to make Jimmy Carter's a stop on their trip.
