I had the classic eggs Benedict with breakfast potatoes and a side of French toast with sliced strawberries and powdered sugar. Everything was delicious! The staff is friendly and my server Kim was great! There is a small parking lot behind the diner or you can find local on-street parking close by. Would love to go again to try all the recommendations Kim made to me!
Edited to add: Went back the next day for dinner. I had the Lumpia, French Onion Soup and the Bacon-wrapped Meatloaf. They were all outstanding! My server, Amy, was very friendly and we had a great chat about my visit to San Diego.

Nice little City Cafe/ Diner. Served fresh pressed coffee which was very delicious. Service was great and people were friendly. Order breakfast there on Sunday morning

We went there for breakfast while visiting San Diego. We were staying in hotel circle area and wanted to get away from the big chain type diners. This was a close drive and we are so happy to have found it. The food was spectacular. I had an omelet and potatos. It was full of veggies. Cheese. And the oven roasted potatoes were fantastic. My husband had French toast and it looked terrific. We found out that this restaurant had been visited by Guy Fieri for his show for the beef sandwich and meatloaf. We definitely need to try those! Friendly welcoming staff. Comfortable cafe vibe !

4.5 stars -- they serve breakfast all day. Kim our waitress was awesome. Cinnamon pancakes are great! Omelettes are perfect egg consistency (visually appealing and tasty). Only critiques are with the polenta and short ribs Benedict-- the hollandaise looked curdled, probably because we ordered breakfast at 2pm... The polenta wasn't creamy, it was rigid and unappetizing in appearance and texture. Still...everything tasted good and that is what matters!

Great food for a dumpy looking hole on the wall place. Great service and the eggs benedict was excellent.

Their meatloaf and short ribs were melt in your mouth goodness. It will definitely be a great place to add to our repertoire.

They sent an order to a hotel with no cutlery. Diabolical. And the wrong order - I ordered a salad and got a different meal. But the food was good, so I’m bumping this rating up!

Delicious and a great pace to have a business meeting because they never rush you. I would highly recommend.

Not good. Food was bland, nobody in our party of 3 finished their plate. Service was slow and they never took our plates despite being obviously finished for ~20 minutes. Prices are higher than they should be (18.50 for 2 eggs and 2 pancakes and a sausage). Skip this place, go somewhere else.

I’m sooooo bummed!
I’m used to thick meatloaf with a heavy slab of that tomato paste icing on top…

I’ve never had bacon on my meatloaf before. Maybe it’s just a preference thing! The flavor wasn’t bad just not what this pregnant girl was craving.

The mashed potatoes were bland but tasted fresh.
Same with the green beans.

I don’t believe the portion size was worth what I paid either

But the lady who took my order was very friendly. Just wanted to leave an honest review without trashing.

The staff is really nice and down to earth, and they have lunch specials, which is what we tend to get.

Vegetarian options: 2/3 of the soups are vegetarian, French onion, and tomato bisque. The salads are good, as is the Mac and cheese. They have a vegetarian burger on the menu, as well as grilled cheese. There is also a variety of breakfast and dinner options.
