Best coffee in San Diego. I discovered them immediately after landing for a long weekend and after trying a few other joints it was clear they had the best beans -- even brought some back home. Solid spot.

Underrated gem. Delicious coffee and breakfast fare. The family running it was so nice and welcoming. High quality espresso. Didn't miss a day here while we were in San Diego.

This place has the best coffee, hands down! On our recent trip to San Diego, we went to this place every single day because it is THAT good! Gladys the owner is incredibly kind as well. We cannot wait to go back!

Aesthetic small coffee shop with a few seating available. I felt rushed at the order counter from the lady. After our orders though she asked how we liked our drinks. The drinks were a little dark for me. I wanted to venture out and try new things. This place is worth a visit.

This is the best coffee I've ever had.
Had the Kakawa latte and my husband had the Arabian Mocha.
The quality was amazing. I tasted the coconut notes and the arabic coffee. It was so good that we wanted to circle back and grab more.
Super friendly staff that made us feel at home. Very good location. Amazing place. Will definitely be back!!

This is a lovely, well-appointed cafe. Whether you come to talk with friends for hours over a latte, or need some time to yourself with a wake-up cup and a good book, you will be equally at home. The barista skills are on point, the coffee is smooth, and the avocado toast is the best I've had. Gladys Moubayed, the owner, is charming, intelligent, well-travelled, and provides friendly, efficient service every single time.

First time here, purchased some drinks and food on the way to Sea World. The drinks were good, but was disappointed that the matcha latte was filled to the top with ice. I finished that drink in about 6 sips. The Mayan coffee was spicy, not to my wife's liking, but I liked it. The food was ok, ordered the quiche and avocado toast. This place is definitely on the pricier side. Reason for the neutral review is because I spent $42 for 2 drinks, a small quiche, and avocado toast. Small amount of food for the price. We also weren't greeted and the barista just walked up to the register and stared at me waiting for me to order. Overall, a meh experience. Also, no restroom available. We took our food to go so we can use the restroom elsewhere.

Great coffee and cute coffee shop.

Just get a paper cup since you get the full amount of coffee versus a mug.

The coffee can be hotter. They don’t do refills if you get a mug.

It’s too loud to work from here so don’t recommend you work from this coffee shop.

Great coffee, hard to park in area based on where its located, very limited menu (mostly just coffee) no snacks/food. Not really a sit down place either, more of a grab and go!

Kakawa is more than just a great coffee shop, it’s a special place in the community. The owner makes it a point to know her customers and creates community events to bring people together. So thankful for Kakawa.

The Americano was good and avocado toast was good (ask for ciabatta roll to be toasted golden mine was just warm bread). I came here for the avo toast and coffee because I heard it was so good.

However, this will not be a destination coffee shop for me because no bathroom, nowhere to wash your hands, & only paper cups, Definitely a grab and go vibe.

Also, kind of pricey. I spent $5.50 on an americano and then once I finished it, I asked if I could have just another half cup of house coffee and I got charged another $3.75 for coffee. I was told it's because it's organic coffee. Actually, if she had just filled my cup half way and let me know that next time I'd have to be charged for it that may have been customer service and that may have brought me back here, but I'm out.

With gratuity, charge for 2 coffees ($10), and Avo toast, I spent $30 bucks. That seems a bit excessive for a coffee stop.
