Decided to take a trip down to San Diego to check out @lapuertasd at the Gaslamp. I had the courage and tried the pancakes, carnitas with eggs. Let me tell you this is a weird and odd combination but it works. I accompanied it with a paloma that was great. #san #diego #blog #gaslamp #carnitas #pancakes #eats #sd #drinks #paloma

This is our second visit to La Puerta in two years during our now annual vacation from DC to San Diego. The tacos were delicious and the service was fantastic. Erin, our server, was outstanding and even crafted a custom Margarita for my wife. OMG! I might need to move here just for the amazing food.

I ordered the 1lb traditional burrito and enjoyed some chips and salsa at the restaurant. The waiter provided excellent service, promptly taking my order, refilling my water, and salsa. The atmosphere was lively with football on, creating a good vibe. The burrito was delicious, with flavors reminiscent of a fajita, and I would definitely order it again.

Tacos are pretty good but the best thing is the huge variety of mezcal (and not tequila) not available at nearly restaurants. And don’t forget taco Tuesdays, where you can get $3 tacos!

This place has the best burritos in the United States, however the service was lacking. Apparently chips & salsa is complimentary but it’s treated like more of a secret and we never got any after asking for some. They have really small glasses for water and within 5 minutes, I already needed a refill. I never got a refill or even a “is everything good?”, only a check. It’s really loud so you have to yell at your s.o. Or friends to get the conversation across. Highly recommend as a to-go service but good luck finding any parking. $17 1lb burrito, with no water or chips & salsa, Famous chain restaurant On the Border might have this place beat. ?

I know the playing field isn’t really level since I’m from the east coast, but I had, without a doubt, the best burrito of my life here. Amazing service and atmosphere as well. Definitely check this out if you’re visiting San Diego.

Great happy hour! And honestly that’s the only time I’d eat or drink here because otherwise it’s ridiculously expensive - $20 for a cocktail type vibes. Worked from the bar for a while and the staff were super friendly. The veggie quesadilla was a big portion and delicious.

Had breakfast and lunch here recently. Breakfast tacos are amazing. The mix and match tacos for lunch were all delicious. The staff here is top notch and super friendly. Also a great variety of drinks are in the menu. Awesome food!
We were really looking forward to trying dinner here. At the bar we were completely ignored by several staff then treated rudely by a guy called Daniel. The cocktails were nice. There was a whole lime under our seat which tripped my friend up. The waitress was apologetic and friendly but after the service or lack thereof we moved on to a far better Mexican restaurant on fifth Avenue.
