Love this restaurant. Great service and nice comfortable seating options. The fried chicken sandwich is to die for.... Absolutely delicious. Great bar and patio seating.

Del Mar has grown up!I lived in Del Mar in the 80s and 90s, to see Del Mar and what we called east Del Mar, north city west today, it's unrecognizable. The cute little beach village 92014 retains the same feel. East of the 5 is now a destination for the bougie trendy crowd. The shopping is fantastic, the theatre's top-notch the food and atmosphere is as good or better then the best zips in the state.Nicks fits in perfectly. The place is classy, clean, and delicious.Top this off with world-class service, and it is a must-visit.

The food was awesome! I had a crispy chicken sandwich, and I think it's because of the sauce I had, but it was SO good. Granted, portions are kinda huge, at least for me, so it was a bit inevitable that I had take away food (for me, tho... that's just one less meal I have to cook, lol. It did not help also, that I had 2 cocktails because their Black and Blue Mojito is magical. Dangerously tastes like juice! We also had such an amazing and sweet server, I believe her name wassss.. Jennifer? Loved her. I think the only thing that sort of bummed me out was that we were there for my birthday, and I had put in the "special occasions" section of the res, I stated it was my birthday but nothing was really done for that... that was a little disappointing, haha. But that's pretty nit-picky, I think. Maybe just don't go for special occasions if you are expecting a dessert with a candle or something ? otherwise, HIGHLY recommend.

I've had drinks at Nick's numerous times before and the bartenders are always fantastic and the drinks are great. Came here for dinner this time, and the food was prepared perfectly. I wouldn't say it's extraordinary or unique in any way, just your more basic American style high-end. The sea bass was cooked perfectly, however there was just a little drizzle of sauce next to it and it really left something to be desired. The fish didn't really have a lot of flavor other than the little spot of sauce that was used up after about three bites. The mashed potatoes were good, and the try to asparagus spears were decent as well! I wouldn't run to have dinner here again over all the other places available in San Diego, but the service was spot on, the food was prepared perfectly, the drinks were good and the atmosphere was lively. A great place for happy hour as well!

Our large party was promptly seated and well cared for. Our waitress did a great job checking in, and making sure our glasses were full. The food itself tasted great! The chips and salsa were a great bonus - we had to practice a lot of self control to not get full before the arrival of food.

We celebrated my husband's birthday here because we couldn't get into the Carlsbad location closer to home. The food was amazing! My husband loved the French Dip, and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken might be the best I've ever had! My husband upgraded his side to loaded mashed potatoes. They were very dry and not edible. Our waitress noticed and asked him about it. She took the up charge off of our bill without us asking. The cocktails were OK but overpriced. Our server, Jolene, was very attentive and sweet. And the Butter Cake? Great birthday treat. Trust me. You must try it. I like the Carlsbad location much better though. The Delmar location is tight and the tables are way too close to the bar and where the servers pick up the drinks. Also, our table was right behind the checkout computer. Waiters would gather there and chat. Not cool. Carlsbad is gorgeous and roomy. Overall we love Nick's, but it is definitely spendy. Perfect for a special occasion.

My friend and I went there specifically for the prime rib sandwich & all I can say is it was phenomenal! Best french dip I have ever had. Warm potato salad was delightful as well. Service was great. I will definitely be back!!

This was our third visit to Nick's and I'm sorry to say we were disappointed. Maybe they were understaffed and maybe they had someone new in the kitchen because this wasn't at all the high end lunch restaurant experience that we had the previous two times. We waited and waited and waited, even for drinks and when the food finally came, the fish was overcooked, undersalted and the flavours off...the magic was gone. Hopefully it was just a bad day.

The menu selections were thoughtful and current. Service was prompt and courteous. The wine menu needs help though. It's too conservative and outdated , reminding me of the wine selections at Von's or Ralph's.

Our server “Natalia” made our dinner experience great and the rest of the support staff was on point. It's been a long time since we've had a server that made us feel like we were her only customer to serve. This was our first time ever at a Nick's restaurant.
