Mixed feelings on this place. We tried the red beans & rice, gumbo, and jambalaya. Overall, despite decent service and ambiance, the meal was quite expensive for the quality of food.

I will say the wings were excellent - especially the dry rub they use. We got them with the house hot sauce which was a bit too vinegary for our preference, but the ranch they came with was good.

The bread that came with the stews was incredible and for the most part the stews were tasty, but the rice in both the gumbo and red beans was super dried out and crunchy. The jambalaya had a nice flavor and kick to it, but the rice was so overcooked and mushy. I didn’t care for the gumbo - it lacked flavor and had a kind of anemic color, like maybe the roux wasn’t cooked enough?

We’d come back for the wings (and bread) but that’s about it.

Best fried catfish I've had in a long time! The staff is pretty friendly too!

I had heard about NoLa on 5th a while ago and finally decided to check it out and I’m so glad I did. From the moment we arrived, the experience was top notch. We were greeted immediately with a warm welcome, and the service throughout our visit was absolutely amazing friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home.

The outdoor look of the place was beautiful stylish, clean, and gave off a relaxed New Orleans vibe that set the mood before we even sat down. It wasn’t super busy when we arrived, which had me wondering at first… but once the food came out, that doubt disappeared quick.

I ordered the catfish gumbo, and it was packed with bold, rich flavor. The catfish was tender, well-seasoned, and the gumbo itself was comforting and full of depth. My partner got the Cajun catfish pasta, and that dish was out of this world creamy, spicy, and satisfying with perfectly cooked pasta and crispy catfish. We ended up sharing both dishes because they were just that good.

The beers were ice cold and hit the spot served at the perfect temperature. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were generous without being over the top.

This place is a hidden gem that deserves way more attention. Great food, great service, chill vibe, and a beautiful space. I’ll definitely be back. NoLa on 5th, y’all are doing it right!

The bartender was very rude, Nik. He took away my food and refused to let me pay and told me to leave without paying. when I did pay he gave me a whole other receipt that was not my meal. Food was delicious but the staff was not! Too many white people running a black food owned business

UPDATE got a response back saying I was aggressive and starting fights when a white women kept looking at me as I ate my food. I went up to her and asked her what was wrong. Don’t look at people. Grab your food and drinks and mind your business. When I first stepped foot into the restaurant no one was attentive to me. I walked asked where I wanted to be seated NOTHING. I gave you the same energy back when I stepped foot into the restaurant. Don’t be rude first because I am the one with the money to pay for my meal.not only that but the owner was playing with a crawfish as other were eating. Why are you playing with peoples food?

I love New Orleans food so hubby found this restaurant to try on vacation. The building seemed a little aged, but had alot of character. At first it took a while to get the waitress to help us, but once she did, everything was great. The drinks were very good. The Shrimp Po Boy was wonderful. It was perfectly cooked and the bread was too die for. Hubby had the beef dip, which he said was fantastic, especially the dip. Overall it was veto good and we would return.

Stopped in while visiting town for some soul food, but was disappointed. The food was bland and the rice was mushy, though the salad and garlic toast were delicious. Our waitress, Anna, was friendly and helpful. The place is rundown, with cobwebs hanging over our heads at the table, and the bathroom reeked of pee. They really need to clean the place....I’m scared to imagine what the kitchen looks like. Won’t be back.

My husband and I thought we would try something new and we love this place! The owner even came out and sat with us and had a drink at the bar! It is definitely a place where locals go to enjoy lots sporting events on TV! The food was spectacular Cajun cuisine. We will definitely go back and enjoy this place with the locals! We are locals.

The food is so good! Instantly took us back to Louisiana! The po'boy sandwich was soo good ! The catfish and shrimp was perfectly fried and super light. The truffle fries were so good too! We also had the trio plate. We really enjoyed the staff, Tony and Ruben were very nice and hospitable.

Went for Mardi Gras expecting it to have the Mardi Gras vibes. They did have a live stream of Bourbon St. going, but no NoLa music, just regular pop. Was kind of a weird vibe in there, about 4 people were sitting at the bar but were also seating people that walked in. Nobody seemed to have control over the restaurant. The food was alright. Fried foods were all saturated in oil, likely meaning the fryer wasn't hot enough. The guy next to us got a po' boy, but the bread smelled moldy even from our table. Glad I tried it, won't be going back.
